Take a large population of poor individuals, put them in an area where the number of potentially employed is much greater than the number of job openings, and make higher education absolutely and ridiculously unaffordable, and explain everything as lousy work ethic.
Yeah, that’s the ticket. Poor black folk don’t want to work!
What about the ones who do have jobs?
What sorts of jobs do THEY do?
Are they doing construction? Factory work? Collecting trash? Flipping burgers? Can you not find dozens of impoverished black people working 2 fucking full time jobs with their “lousy work ethic” and no desire to earn money for themselves EVERYWHERE YOU GO IN THE INNER CITY and elsewhere?

It pisses me off personally. Hundreds of applications, and dozens of interviews which resulted from such applications, each for a single position that was applied for by dozens of people, in a down economy. This goes on for a couple years and the conclusion is I must not have wanted to work, or I don’t work hard.
Someone hires me and I make manager within a few months. I wonder why.
Maybe the misconception that the unemployed don’t want to work and really enjoy their meager welfare checks which do not, in any way, remotely come close to covering their expenses, is complete and utter bullcrap, not true in 95 cases out of 100. The only cases anyone ever talks about are the total losers of our society who do exist, but they do not make up the majority of those who need assistance by a long shot.
Most of the people who are unemployed are so temporarily, who need assistance because they’ve got kids, who will go hungry or without shelter just because Daddy got laid off from his job working at the bottle-making plant.
When unemployment levels spike it isn’t because millions of people suddenly decided to be drugged-out welfare queens. It’s because they lost their job. Mind-blowing, I know.
And herewe have the predictable desperate effort by **Bricker **to find a way not to recognize that Ryan meant what he said.
