Stupid Republican idea of the day

Elected Republican Judge moonlighting as a security guard decided it was appropriate to slap around a young black man looking for work while yelling racial slurs towards him.

This is alleged so far, but I doubt random vendors make up stories like that for shits and giggles.

Y’all missed the Twitter feed of former Election Commission chairman of Simpsonville, S.C., Todd Kincannon, who thinks his (imaginary) son would have superpowers if shot at on a public street.
“No idea how my son will die, but I know it won’t be cowering like a bitch at UC Santa Barbara. Any son of mine would have been shooting back”

If you don’t want to be ill, don’t look at the rest of his feed. He tells women to show him their tits or GTFO, told one woman, “Calm your tits, junebug,” and responded to a woman who said she’d never heard of him before the tweet about his son, with this: “Horse-faced liberal broads of the world, unite!

Also known as “The Bristol Palin Gambit.”

Now Michael Grimm says the media are out to get him.

The clueless idiot is actually running for reelection?!

Such a sterling record, too…

Hey, man, that was totally unrelated to his congressional tenure. It’s practically a different person.

GOP science deniers threaten U.S. national defense
The GOP used to be the party of national defense. … Last week 227 of 231 GOP members of the House voted to turn the Pentagon into climate-science deniers, a decision certain to weaken national security. That’s about as absurd as telling Silicon Valley they can’t use technology.

Don’t see much impact on national security, unless the Canadians start getting all pissy about* their* water!

You say that as if they do not really not believe in climate change but are voting that way for political (or monetary) reasons. Is that your view? I’m more leaning towards them being genuine dumbasses and are voting their actual views.

scuse me that is from the article. shudda quoted or made clear.

" The GOP used to be the party of national defense. … Last week 227 of 231 GOP members of the House voted to turn the Pentagon into climate-science deniers, a decision certain to weaken national security. That’s about as absurd as telling Silicon Valley they can’t use technology. "

The article mentions the importance of climate science re: intelligence planning, e.g. determining which geographical area is going to go apeshit in 12 months because there’s going to be a sudden draught/flood. Or knowing that this and that National Guard unit won’t be able to be deployed in Bumfuqistan because they’ll be busy overseeing the aftermath of Hurricane God Hates Us All.

Then there’s the whole “naval bases should maybe prolly be able to study rising sea levels so they don’t get damaged or worse”. E.g. If y’all have to move out of Pearl in a hurry I’d axiomatically postulate that’s something you’d want to be able to know about and plan contingencies for. And if you think that’s silly sky-gonna-fall doomsaying, Micronesia’s already in deep shit due to rising sea levels.

Oh, come now, was it not St. Ronnie that told us, “A rising sea lifts all boats”? Who are we to gainsay the beatified?

The pier doesn’t rise along with the boat !

So, if/when Bangladesh floods from rising sea levels, and millions of refugees get the hell out of there, straining the resources of their neighbors to the breaking point, and this results in armed conflicts, how will the Pentagon describe what is happening?

As climate terrorism … but NOT climate change!

Well, then the author of the article is making the mistake of attributing their actions to maliciousness when it might be better explained by their simple ignorance and stupidity.

No one says you can’t be maliciously stupid.

Wait, so they can vote on what science they’re going to follow and not follow? Can they vote that NASA can’t believe in gravity anymore so they can launch spacecraft easier? Can they vote that fossil fuels will never run out?

Admittedly, this one is another barrel-fish-shoot, but what the hell:

Remember, kids: Leadership that blows off warnings before your capital and metropolis get attacked is strong; leadership that gives the guy responsible some high-velocity lead poisoning is weak!

Y’all don’t seem to understand that the Republicans made a simple mistake that any of us could have made. When assigned to a Crime Panel, your job is to help stamp out crime. When assigned to a Poverty Panel, you job is to try to eliminate poverty. When assigned to an Inflation Panel, your job is to try to Whip Inflation Now :p.
So naturally, when these Republicans got assigned to a Science Panel…
