The Democratic governor of Virginia said that he would veto any bills passed by the Republican legislature (which got enough votes by bribing a Democratic state Senator into resigning) which would forbid Medicaid expansion (Governor McAuliffe campaigned on expanding Medicaid in the state). The Republican Speaker of the House said he would call the legislature into session Monday to vote on the forbidding of Medicaid expansion, so the Governor went away for the Father’s Day weekend. While he was gone, the Speaker called the House into session, passed the Medicaid bill, and had the Capitol Police break into the Governor’s office in the state Capitol so they could lay the bill on his desk. That gives him fewer days to veto the bill, under the state law which requires a veto within seven days of a bill’s passage.
It seems to be the traditional method for a crazy extremist group to overcome their lack of popular muscle and seize control of the government. I think it happened in some country somewhere a while back and millions of people died as a result. Not to, like, godwinize the Tea Pratty or anything – they are just not that good.
Of course he’s not suing over the sheer number of them. The point I obviously didn’t make well the first time is, every president makes executive orders (except the one who died a month into office), including their butt-buddy Bush … and as an aside, he did even more of them. But Democrats never called him a lawless tyrant and sued him for the ones we didn’t like. We recognized it was within his power to do so and worked the system as it’s designed.
I think he has it wrong, given that he actually thinks if Boehner et al win, it will also be a loss because: [By] forcing the administration to withdraw some of its executive actions, the process will showcase the Constitution working as it is supposed to work, with the legislative and executive branches disagreeing about the correct interpretation of the Constitution and the Judicial branch stepping in to mediate the dispute. Americans will get a civics lesson and life will go on.
In what universe will winning the legal argument that the black, but not-black-enough, gay, atheist, Muslim, Christian Radical, Anti-Christ, Messiah, anti-American, Kenyan, Arab half-breed, Communist, Socialist, Marxist, Nazi, pawn of the UN, dictator pussy is also a lawless tyrant make the Republicans slink back into “normal” life and shut the hell up about it?
Just the mere notion is cray-cray.
 They have no fucking shame and not a shred of respect for the democratic process.
Then his remedy is to impeach. The list of cognizable claims (i.e., those a federal court won’t dismiss as political questions) against a sitting POTUS is vanishingly small.
