Funny thing was, I’d just been contemplating making a nearly identical post, but then thought …"nah, too obscure. Nobody’d get it…
This is the SDMB. Somebody is going to get any reference you could make if it involves popular culture, literature, science, history, film & tv, anime, tiddlywinks or Ganymedean trivia.
There are people on this board who wouldn’t recognize a reference to The Ransom of Red Chief?
Oh, yeah, that’s the one where the guy sells his hair to buy his wife a totally obnoxious twat of a child.
Yeah, then they all get locked in a closet and miss the only day of sunshine in seven years.
Wait… that’s that Asimov story that became Star Trek V, right?
No, Twilight Zone. You can tell from the Trek ending.
Minnesota Republican congressional candidate Jim Hagedorn on alleged voting improprieties on Indian reservations:
-
Yikes.

Why, are they more likely to vote Republican?
A Republican is a person whose brain is MOSTLY dead … not far from being a zombie …
Zombies do not waste their time with Republican “brains”. There is not much food value. It is almost cannibalistic.
Louisiana Teabaggers are calling David Vitter a turncoat because he supports the evil Communistic Common Core standards. On their page, they posted a story from the Broken World site declaring that Common Core turns kids gay.
Of course Broken World is a rap-scallion site, their about page says you must be a TFM to believe their content.
So, now, the Teabaggers are saying that they knew it was satire, the linked to it anyway, to bring attention to this important issue.
Actually, according to investigative reporter Greg Palast, the vote on reservations tends to be more heavily Democratic. In consequence, he claims that reservations are victims of “vote spoilage”, receiving defective voting machines and other such tactics.
This site barely mentions it, but he goes into detail in his books:

Here’s some more:
Now I’m confused. What you’re saying is that Red Chief can’t vote, but isn’t he like seven or eight?
Minority votes get suppressed? Next, you’re going to claim the Pope is Catholic, and bears shit in the woods. C’mon.
