In Oklahoma, a lawmaker got a Ten Commandments monument erected - with spelling errors.

This SRIOTD has been dealt with.:

Someone drove up a ramp near the Oklahoma Capitol steps overnight and into a disputed granite monument of the Ten Commandments, smashing it to pieces in an apparent act of vandalism, authorities said.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. George Brown said the person abandoned the car and fled the scene after destroying the monument Thursday night, and that investigators are searching the sedan for clues.

Another that really belongs under Evil rather than Stupid: The Arizona Senate is working on a bill that allows employers to fire women for using “whore pills”.

Yesterday, a Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed Republican Debbie Lesko’s HB2625 by a vote of 6-2, which would allow an employer to request proof that a woman using insurance to buy birth control was being prescribed the birth control for reasons other than not wanting to get pregnant. It’s all about freedom, she said, echoing everyone who thinks there’s nothing ironic about claiming that a country that’s “free” allows people’s bosses to dictate what medical care is available to them through insurance. First amendment. The constitution. Rights of religious people to practice the treasured tenets of their faiths, the tenets that dictate that religious people get to tell everyone who is not of faith how they’re supposed to live, and the freedom to have that faith enforced by law. Freedom®.

Further, Lesko states, with a straight face, that this bill is necessary because “we live in America; we don’t live in the Soviet Union.”

That’s a really disgusting bill, ElvisL1ves, and I thank you for bringing it to our attention. I wonder, though, what an employer could do with that proof of whore pill usage. Is that really considered a fireable offense, or is Arizona a right-to-work state and you can be fired for wearing a red cardigan sweater on a Tuesday?

On a lighter note, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the **D’Anconia **contributions. And, having just Googled the username because I figured it was a reference to something but couldn’t guess what, I now know why everyone keeps bringing up Ayn Rand in the other thread again.
