It really seems sometimes that a lot of people have completely missed most of the 19th Century, actually. Not to mention a goodly portion of the 20th.

Here’s the thing. Lauten’s post is very revealing. Of course, there’s the casual racism of it, but Lauten and Republicans like her REALLY WOULD like to return America to the 1950s if they could. THEY STILL LIVE THERE IN THEIR HEADS. That’s why they are so generally pissed off about everything. Everything that has happened during the 60s and afterward is an affront to their idea of how the US should be.

And of course, racism was MUCH more tolerated in the 1950s.

I’ve noticed a few people expressing shock and disbelief that Anthony Watts would put up the article that Tim Ball wrote the other day.

I don’t know why they picked out that particular one.

Yes, it was shocking. Yes, it was not only one of the dumbest articles you’ll ever read, it was horrible. Tim Ball was basically accusing climate scientists of being Hitlers. He quoted a passage from Hitler’s writings to prove that climate science was one big con. (Yeah - weird!) He was accusing climate scientists of massive deception on a centuries-long world-wide scale, which is something that Anthony encourages his readers to believe quite often. So that’s nothing new.
Thing is, Anthony Watts often posts articles by Tim Ball, some of which, to my reading, have been just as shocking as the one he posted the other day.

I won’t go into the detail of the article itself. I’ll just point out that it took quite some time for Anthony to finally hint that he knows this time he’s gone way too far. Well, he’s gone too far on many occasions. However, this time he’s decided he’d better try to distance himself from the article. He’s belatedly added a tiny little post-script:

Too little, too late. He doesn’t actually dissociate himself from the article, you’ll notice. He doesn’t say - this is most definitely NOT my opinion. All he says is that it doesn’t “necessarily” reflect his opinion. It might or might not. He’s not saying. Most certainly he doesn’t think it’s necessary to remove the article.

Eli Rabett does not pull punches on what is going regarding what is passing as “devate” among the deniers:

Well, ok, Eli is on occasion a trouble maker. This all started when Willard Tony gave the keys to Tim Ball, the elder northern bunnies may remember him. Well in the grand tradition of the Good Lord, Monckton (and anybunny following that link will understand why Eli calls him “Good Lord,” maybe with a comma in there) when you are on the grift you have to keep accelerating the crazy to move the crowd to the next level otherwise the well dries up.

It was all there and more, maybe no moon landing but not much else was missing in the Thanksgiving melange.

I did not dare to click on it. Seems to be acceptable at WUWT. MCourtney is the local voice of some reason and ask people not to blame to “ethno-Bolsheviks”, but to honestly call them Jews.

Have asked Anthony Watts on twitter whether he read the post before publishing it. He did not respond yet. Would be nice to get a: I am Anthony Watts and I approve this message.

I have seen also that the preferred targets of a group of the deniers are scientists who are jews, I really do wonder when this will finally make the responsible Republicans (or I’m being too optimistic here?) realize that a chunk of the ones that are pushing for anti science regarding climate science are doing it also for other more unsavory reasons.

Forgot to add: when looking at who is funding those yahoos one has to wonder also how far they will be allowed to spew that kind of trash, and when their funding coming from the Heartland Institute and other right wing groups will end.

I mean, do they care at all about what groups like WUWT are doing with their money? Or do they like what they see??
