Stupid Republican idea of the day

Texas’s latest attempt at nullification of federal laws: a 14-member board, 8 of whom can declare a federal law null within the state and which would be approved (or not) at the next legislative session. Because that worked so well in the 19th century.

It really seems sometimes that a lot of people have completely missed most of the 19th Century, actually. Not to mention a goodly portion of the 20th.

[creating one’s own alternate reality]If they determine that it isn’t a law, then it would be unconstitutional for it to be a law, and therefore it is unconstitutional for it to be a law.[/creating one’s own alternate reality]

(http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/republican-staffer-says-obama-daughters-are-disrespectful-and-dress-like-bar-sluts/)”]Dear Sasha and Malia, I get that you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part that you play. Then again your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department.

Nevertheless, stretch yourself, rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events.

So, “Nanny State”, anyone?

…Wow. That’s fucking low.

Not low, looks like about two hands above the knee; the same standard that was set back when I went to junior high. Not slutty, just regular young girl coverings.
Praise the lord we’re not stuck with that frilly-sleeved mid-calf length crap that plagued us all during the Reagan years. Everyone looked like Melissa Sue Anderson in Little House on the Prairie for a while there, shudder!

Here’s the thing. Lauten’s post is very revealing. Of course, there’s the casual racism of it, but Lauten and Republicans like her REALLY WOULD like to return America to the 1950s if they could. THEY STILL LIVE THERE IN THEIR HEADS. That’s why they are so generally pissed off about everything. Everything that has happened during the 60s and afterward is an affront to their idea of how the US should be.

And of course, racism was MUCH more tolerated in the 1950s.

Gotta love that Teen pregnancy rate (15-19 year olds) back in the 50’s.
Girls must’ve been far randier before the sexual revolution ruined everything for everybody.

That whole 50’s nostalgia thing amuses me. It’s TV 50’s. And the whole “old West” thing. Also TV. So many people nostalgic for TV, not reality.

I think it had more to do with you had to go to the counter, look that man right in the tie clasp and ask for r-r-r-rubbers.

I like how it say she took “many hours of prayer” to decide to apologize (and delete the comments).

Maybe instead of ‘many hours of prayer’ you should watch two seconds of the internet reacting to your crap?

Ms. Lauten: Dear God, am I a dick?

God: YES.

I suspect the fear of losing her job had a lot more to do with it than any “prayer.”

Has the entire W. presidency been excised from the minds of the right wing? Have the forgotten the party twins? Busted for underage drinking within the first six months of their father taking office.

Eddie Haskell woulda done it.

pssssst…the entire W. Bush family is white. Just in case you’ve forgotten.

Republican (as usual with deniers) Anthony Watts did go there, godwin and the antisemitism is showing on top of the anti science and denialism that is coming from many Republicans.

Eli Rabett does not pull punches on what is going regarding what is passing as “devate” among the deniers:

I have seen also that the preferred targets of a group of the deniers are scientists who are jews, I really do wonder when this will finally make the responsible Republicans (or I’m being too optimistic here?) realize that a chunk of the ones that are pushing for anti science regarding climate science are doing it also for other more unsavory reasons.

Forgot to add: when looking at who is funding those yahoos one has to wonder also how far they will be allowed to spew that kind of trash, and when their funding coming from the Heartland Institute and other right wing groups will end.

I mean, do they care at all about what groups like WUWT are doing with their money? Or do they like what they see??

What’s WUWT?

Watts Up With That*, the main blog for climate change deniers out there, or like they want to call themselves: “Skeptics” of the current consensus the scientists have regarding climate change, but many that look at what they do know that the correct term to use for them is Fake Skeptics.

And they are more of an astroturf organization rather than a grassroots one.
