Stupid Republican idea of the day

Tom Cotton ‘Corruption Of Blood’ Bill Would Convict Family Members Of Iran Sanctions Violators

This guy just keeps outdoing himself for off the chart wackiness.

I just realized that this is from 2013.

Welp. OK, I’m joining his campaign. Lindsey Graham for President, gonna make it happen.

Yes, I do believe his brain to be made of poutine, based on previous positions the old twit has taken.

But I have been for some time wildly disillusioned with the ability of Congress to run the country, and I’m afraid our best bet for a more competent executive may be a military-supported dictatorship. I think it’s for the best that the GOP set that precedent, so a future leader has more opportunity to start reigning from the White House without all the “Congress controls the power of the purse” jive that’s been imposed on Mr. Obama.

Let’s do this terrible thing, Lindsey.

Hah! Given the ease of becoming a Dudist Priest, anyone can do that when this passes.

Its very similar to what the 12 steppers call a “moment of clarity”.

I can! In fact, not only will you go to heaven, you get to bring one person or animal with you no matter how bad they are! Its a salvation sell-off, 2 for the price of one!

But I’m not that surprised Oklahoma wants to do this, they are #2 in most second marriages. I guess the marriage thing hasn’t been working for them so they want to try something new.

Its really of absolutely no surprise that in measures of divorces, teen pregnancy, number of poor people, wages, deaths, obesity, taking federal money, etc. that conservative states are always ranked pretty high. One might even think they are defective in some way

The Texas GOPpers have apparently realized they haven’t appeared in this thread for several posts, so here they are with their response to evidence coming to light of police brutality incidents throughout the country: http://m.chron.com/news/politics/texas/article/Bill-restricting-rights-of-citizens-to-videotape-6130903.php

From the article:

Oh, Rudy, you’re *soooo *close. You’ve almost got it. The phrase you’re looking for is

“I’m not an asshole, but…”

“Could you pass that shovel down to me in this hole”

It’s because they don’t drink water without sanitizing it with alcohol.

And that’s only counting marriages outside the immediate family.

Maybe they would be open to a quid pro quo: If you don’t stand in the way of legalizing SSM, we won’t stand in the way of legalizing incest! Win-win!

Wincest!

Rudy Giuliani: ‘Darren Wilson Should Be Commended For Shooting Michael Brown

Let us condone Ty Kendricks
If we cannot decorate.

Boy, Giuliani just keeps putting his foot in his mouth, like he wants to be seen as a complete, racist dumbass

I cannot believe I used to respect that numbskull once upon a time.

The GOP war on science continues:

Ted Cruz Tells NASA Chief They Shouldn’t Do Climate Science Research

I never paid much attention to Rudy (other than right after 9/11, when after awhile it became clear that his actions as mayor had made that day worse, not better), but it’s possible that he may have been worthy of respect once upon a time.

He’d be one of a number of conservative figures who’ve gone from being more or less sane (if more conservative than we’d like) to being old men yelling at clouds.

Example 1 would of course be John McCain, who was actually pretty thoughtful in the late 1990s and early 2000s - there was a reason all the journalists fawned over him. Bothsidesdoitism requires the existence of reasonable Republicans, and once upon a time, McCain was the real deal. Now he’s fucking crazy, and has been that way for many years now. (And yet he still gets asked to appear on all the Sunday political talk shows. They’ll never be ‘over’ McCain.)

And then there’s Antonin Scalia, whose judicial conservatism used to at least be undergirded with some principles, even if they were principles most of us didn’t particularly like. Now he’s your crazy uncle who spends all day watching Fox News, only with black robes and a vote on the supreme tribunal of the land.

So though I can’t tell whether Rudy’s always been this bad, or whether he started off making sense, then underwent the same evolution as McCain and Scalia, the latter is certainly possible, from my vantage point.

I think George Will is another example.
