Summer's here and I'm hot and muggy: a topical MMP

What happened?? I had a post all done up a couple of hours ago, and it’s not here. I bet I forgot to hit post… :smack

The gist of my post - the thing in Annapolis was unimpressive, but it was a nice, if windy, day to walk among boats. What we got out of it was the smell of burgers on the grill, which inspired me to come home and fire up our grill for burgers and dogs. Plus I scrubbed, oiled, and wrapped some baking N.O.T. and tossed them on the coals an hour ahead of time. Add beans and condiments, and we had a good supper. Dishwasher is taking care of the remains right now.

It was the first meal we grilled on the deck. No more going thru the garage - yay!!

Before going to Annapolis, we stopped at a patio store to look at furniture. We found a set we like, and it’ll only cost $2K! That’s for a table, 4 swivel sling chairs, and an umbrella. Too bad we don’t have $2K lying around. Although if someone wants to give me a present… I wrote the brand name down, so I’ll see if I can find it elsewhere for less, since this store tends to be a tad pricy. But don’t let that stop you if you plan to surprise me with the Primera Sling Collection.

**FCD **and daughter are going to a movie tonight. I’m going to have some quality crocheting time. I have 4 more squares to make, then a bunch to edge in black. Finally, I’ll lay out 2 afghans and stitch the squares together, then edge all the way around each. If I’m lucky tonight, I’ll get all the squares edged. We shall see.

Howdy y’all! Had a fun day with the family. We ate. We laughed. We talked. We ate some more. Mom got some good loot too.

I’m at sis’s now. Gonna spend a little time with sis, niece and bil tonight.

Later Y’all!

I found out today that a friend of mine in HS died last week from a pulmonary embolus. She worked with #1 son at the plant nursery. :frowning: She thought her rapid heart rate and shortness of breath were due to anxiety and too much caffeine. They weren’t. She had a 27 year old son. Meg was always very nice, but she lost her way shortly after HS–one of those people who lived day to day; hand to mouth. She was 48.

In other news, I got me 3 new pairs of shoes! Sports Authority was having a massive sale on athletic shoes: $39.99 for Saucony and New Balance! I bought 2 pairs because my feet don’t grow anymore. I also got a new pair of supportive flip flops. I did not find any work shoes, though. Damn. I need some shoes for the library. I’m not allowed to wear jeans, athletic shoes etc. But my feet frigging hurt in pumps or even loafers, even with my orthotics. Oh, to have no foot pain. What a joy it would be.

Dinner was the NOM! I had a grilled lobster tail, some shrimp scampi, and “wood-fired” shrimp. I’m still stuffed! With the giftcard and a coupon, we only owed $5 plus tip. Not bad!

We’re looking into getting ReboSon into the service. He’s totally ready, finally. My broher is an officer in the navy, and he’s gonna look into seeing what it will take to get him in. He’ll be talking to a recruiter very soon. We figure even if we have to pay a lawyer to expunge his old record, it will be worth it. Hopefully the DWI thing will not cause a huge problem. The boy needs a future, dammit!

Hugs, smooches, trouts, and butt pinches… pass 'em around…

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there, be they biological, steps, or mother-figures!

Yup, it’s 1:30 in the A.M. and I am still up. Our friends just left. I’m gonna finish my drinkie poo and toddle off to bed here pretty soon.

**rigs **- I occasionally get an update newsletter from my HS alumni newsletter. Last time, I looked over the list of those who have died - it’s a real slap of reality to see the name of someone that you remember as that kid in Social Studies class on the obit list. Stoopit mortality. :frowning: Old people are supposed to be the ones dying, not high school kids… Yeah, I know, but I still see them at high school age. How sad for her son.

I’m up. I don’t want to be, but I am. I finished the 39th square last night and I know the colors and pattern I intend to use for the last one, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I crashed shortly after the movie-goers got home. Unfortunately, about 3AM, my sweetie woke up with a vomiting attack (poor thing) which, of course, woke me. When his stomach calmed down, he went to watch TV, and I fell back to sleep, only to be wakened at 6 by Scruffy. So I’m up. Daughter and I will be leaving for Mom’s in about 3 hours. Needless to say, **FCD **is staying home. Poor baby.

We’re going to stop at IKEA on the way, and I’m hoping we can manage a graceful exit around 4, so we can get home at a reasonable hour. Daughter has her final tomorrow (the class she’s taking, not the classes she’s teaching) and I get to go back to work. rah.

I can has retire?

***Happy Mother’s Day, all you Mothers!! ***

Good morning all and Happy Mother’s Day!

We’ll be off to Cleveland shortly to meet up with cousins.

Might not be back till the next MMP. (I nominate Bobbio as he claims he has pictures.)

Hugs.

Happy Mom’s Day to all Mothers!!

{{{{{{{{rigs}}}}}}}}

I think I’ve finally caught up on the sleep I didn’t get Thursday night
It is (and was yesterday) frickin’ windy! So windy, in fact, that while I was driving, I was fighting the wind to stay in my lane!

A Very Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers!

Rigs, so sad about your former HS friend. As preparations are being made for our 40th (damn, am I that old?!), I can’t believe how many our class has lost just in the past 10 years. :frowning: I’m glad to have re-connected with many via facebook.

Good thoughts headed towards ReboSon; crossing appendages too that the Military will be the answer for him. Great deal on dinner at RL btw, Rebo!

No plans for today; my son framed two graduation photos for me for Mother’s Day, so I’m very happy about that. He looks so good in the cap and gown! And I am so happy for him too!!

Enjoy your Sunday all.

Thanks, all. I teared up when I found out. Now, I haven’t seriously talked to Meg in at least 10 years, but what hit was like FCM said–the reality of mortality. I have seen too many people die and too many of my friends and family are also gone. And it’s only going to get worse as I get older.

On that happy note: CALL YOUR MOTHER! *

*If you can.

Weird day here.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY ALL YOU MOM’S!!!

I’s back in da cave and tahred! It was a fun but long trip to see mom and family. I was goin’ to take mom to lunch after church today but she said she’d rather come home get comfy and eat leftovers. Hey, it’s her day, so I abided by her wish. Ya know, I definitely got a lot of DNA from her, cause, had I been the one who was offered lunch after church, I would have chosen to come home, get comfy and eat leftovers too.

Ok, I hear we have a nomination for tomorrow’s MMP.

All in favor of BBBobbio bein’ our host with the most say “Aye”.

AYE!!!

All those oppose [delete]shut up and sit down[/delete] say “No”.

:: crickets ::

The “Ayes” have it. BBBobbio shall regale us with a rivetin’ tale of Cottonfield County complete with pitchers! YAY!!!

So railroaded.

I will most likely be delayed with the OP and pictures, because I’ve had a very rough weekend, but I will have a placeholder OP up until I can get done with storytelling.

Some days I think I must have blonde roots. :dubious:

At least you’ve got roots.

Linky to new MMP.

I have to say “THANKS!!!” to whoever posted the link to the mumpers recipes blogspot page. I searched for the link a bit here, but couldn’t find it. Any ways, I found Flutterby’s Appie recipe there, for peppers with cream cheese and bacon. I had 7-8 small mild peppers at home, so I got the cheese’n’bacon, and made up some of these yesterday and lit off the grill. Missus Coder and I ate them while we watched Ralf Jr put together the covered swing set that he gave his mom for Mother’s Day (and I paid for, thank you very much. Some things never change. Where do I get my “Bank of Dad” t-shirt, any way? But I digress…)

The things were great! And simple, and easy to remember, too. This is a Good Thing (mental note - Send Martha another $2.25 royalty check), 'cause when you’re like me, and jealous of how much brain power that the typical labrador retriever has, you don’t want to try to remember complicated recipes. You know - the ones that have more than 4 ingredients.

Anyway, thanks, all of you!
