Super Bowl LV - Whatcha Eatin?

So this year the Super Bowl parties will be greatly tempered if not outright cancelled for most everyone, but that doesn’t mean folks aren’t whipping up some indulgent goodies and mixing up some adult beverages. So share with the Dope, what’s on the menu for today, even if it’s just you and the fam digging in.

At Omni’s house we’re keeping it traditional. Homemade Hot Wings with Frank’s Sauce, Chili Cheese Dip, scratch made Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies and an assortment of classic munchies including a veggie tray, French Onion Dip with Ruffles and Hawaiian Rolls.

Recipes welcome!

Lil Smokies Crescent Rolls, Warm Pretzels with Beer Cheese Jalapeno Dip, Buffalo Wings, Homemade Guac, Beer.

Steak is what’s for dinner… but there are 2 gallons of super-hot chili to snack on in the fridge.

Swedish meatballs, apple dumplings, and Tositos chips with Hampton Roads Mexican White Sauce that I made myself.

Potato and leek soup and oven roasted tomato and basil soup for half time. A pile of chips salsa and pistachios until then.

That’s a lot of soup!

Yeah ever since we moved to the US, soup for superbowl has been a bit of a family thing.

Pun game is strong.

We were working on finishing a project in the barn yesterday, wanting to finish it before really cold weather moves in. Beers and a vape pen while we worked, then a sauna after to warm up, then soup, then bed.

Heard the score this morning and realized we’d missed it.

This cookbook has a recipe for “fuego barbebued chicken.” Supposed to make it with wings, but we have moved to making it with drumsticks. I skin the drumsticks, then there’s a spice rub mixed with oil that goes on the chicken before baking. After they’re baked, they get slathered in a spicy barbeque sauce that includes ketchup, malt vinegar, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic, chili powder, cumin, and minced onions. Good stuff. Sides include microwave-steamed broccoli and garlic fried rice.
