Oh what satisfying comeuppance this is. The Colts don’t get a perfect season or the superbowl, they just get a run of the mill (albeit very good) 14-2 season that will soon fade away into the history books.
I would give you a pat on the back, but you seem to be doing enough of that already.
I have a question about this. IIRC, they said he had 30 completions, and 32 was the record. Then he got one more. Then he threw one for a TD that made it 32. Then there was the 2-point conversion, that, after review and overturning, should have made it 33. Where am I wrong?
The two point play doesn’t count as a completion, I believe.
Hey, comeon, help me out! My arms are both broken, and the shoulders are out of joint!
Is Townshend allowed to sing about teenagers?
Why? It wasn’t a lateral, I don’t believe. Do 2-point conversions not count towards stats?
What a great Superbowl, and pooh on you haters like Airman Doors and SenorBeef for maintaining some weird grudge against the Colts. No matter the outcome of this game, you would have had a “perfect season” comment. Who cares? Evidently only you two.
And Airman, the Bengals will win the division next year too, so you might want to prepare.
No, they don’t, as I recall. They simply go as a successful or unsuccessful try. No yards gained, no carries, no completions, no attempts (pass), etc.
It was an excellent Super Bowl. Kept me watching, and I had been of half a mind not to watch the whole thing this year.
I am very happy for the Saints, easily the team I wanted to see win if it couldn’t be the Packers.
Wooooh! I win my office poll! I know I didn’t call it here, but I said 24-17 Saints. Missed it by a TD!
Great game by both teams, but I can’t figure out why the commentators kept saying that the game breaker was the interception. Don’t they realize that the Saints were winning before that play, and never gave up another point after that? Indy wasn’t even in FG range when that happened, so you can’t say they preserved 3 points there. Why is that such a huge play?
Because that closed the game out. If they hadn’t picked it off Indy had another 3 minutes or so to get the touchdown they looked like they were going to get.
I said I was done. It can keep until next year.
There is absolutely nothing weird about a grudge against the Colts; there is plenty to hate there. I am genuinely happy for the Saints for winning, but I am also getting my schadenfreude on with the Colts losing.
Um, Actually they already were in field goal range, since they were at the Saint 31 when that pass was thrown. That means a 48 yard FG, and that’s eminently makeable.
But more importantly, the Colts were again driving without much opposition. If the pass is complete, instead of intercepted, it’s another first down for the Colts and they have momentum, which likely would have resulted in a TD tying the game. Even if the pass is incomplete, it’s quite possible Indy would have gone for it on 4th Down, and if they make it, same thing.
So the interception was a deal clincher. It wasn’t everything, but it sure made a comeback pret’ near impossible.
What is racking my brain, is how much money Budweiser spent on the Bowl.
I counted about what, 12 commercials, a good 6 for Bud light ?
Best two commercials were the first two out the gate. IMHO.
i concur it was a great game… kudos to Freeney for playing on that bum ankle… he was impressive in the first half and then i believe the shot wore off and reality ie the pain set in and that was it for him… Not much heard from Brock or Mathis… but Brees was getttin the ball out of his hand like Marino at his peak…
Despite poor defense on both sides it was a damn good super bowl goin down to the 2-3 minutes to go…
I also thought Garcon really stepped up his game… and i was impressive with Devry Henderson… CBS did excellent camera work and Simms was pretty good…
That half time show… enough is enough…i was with a large crowd of people of varying ages and races and we were all completely underwhelmed… it was as if someone plugged in a classic rock jukebox… what were Herman and Hermits not available to open???
I would not call holding the Colts to 17 points, and clinching the win with a pick-6 “poor defense”. I think the Saints defense showed the world that they’ve been underrated all year. Granted, they aren’t the Steel Curtain, or the Doomsday Defense, but they played well and got the job done.
I have to admit I thought (possibly because I have two young nephews back home) this was really cute.
At one point later on, the little one was offering Daddy a piece of confetti; the latter was playfully snapping at it with his teeth. Like I said, cute. ![]()
Agreed. Where are the current artists of the day? Where are the half-way current artists at least? I’m not a huge fan of modern music but classic rock acts from the 60’s and 70’s come off as really stale.
Lady Gaga
The Killers
Green Day
Black Eyed Peas
Kings of Leon
The Fray
Were all these artists busy? Perhaps something popular within the last decade?
