Please tell me Bobby somehow makes it. Please don’t let them actually kill Bobby off.
Bobby relives some memories, including some involving Rufus.
I haven’t seen it yet—just read that.
Yeesh.
I’m with you Mahaloth.
Ridiculous. Just ridiculous, especially the part where Dick visited.
I don’t think the writers would begin an episode with Bobby’s death, so since he’s not dead yet, he won’t die. Bobby dying is too important to be a cliffhanger. If he’s gonna die, it should be very clear that it happens, and it should be the final scene of an episode, or the final scene of a season. No cliffhanging with Bobby. He deserves more respect than that.
And as far as I can tell - there was no cliffhanger here.
and I was bored by the entire episode - those boys pout more than my wife.
(please, for the love of god, don’t tell her I said that.)
My wife, who has been a huge fan of this show from the very beginning, has been complaining all season (and, for that matter, last year, too) about the turns that the show has taken. She’s not happy about this one, either, esp. if Bobby’s really done.
FWIW, I thought Jim Beaver was especially good in this ep.
Still hopeful.
The medical folks were still working on Bobby. I didn’t see them disconnect the equipment or pull the sheet over his head, so in my mind, it’s a cliffhanger.
understandable - it was the scene with the reaper that summed it up for me - but this is supernatural
I agree - but then I’ve always liked his char…
balls.
Agreed. Reaper asked if he would stay or go, and he did not respond…yet.
Yeah. Bobby looked like he was actually considering going with the reaper. Like he was really tired, and it was time to let the boys go on without him.
Maybe he’ll just retire from hunting. Fingers crossed.
The guy playing the reaper looked too much like the guy that plays Chuck, at first I thought Bobby was getting a visit from the big guy Himself.
I am a little surprised that Sam & Dean didn’t at least consider summoning up Crowley or another crossroads demon to try and get a deal for Bobby going. Probably too “been there, done that” but at least a line or something about why they wouldn’t do that would’ve been nice.
My thought exactly.
As for Bobby agreeing or not agreeing to go with the reaper…well, he loves the boys like his own sons, and he might want to stay around as a ghost to help them out when he can, knowing that they’ll do the right thing and burn his bones if he goes bad…that is, if Sam and Dean don’t do the “standard procedure” and burn his body right away, of course. If they do that, then there’s no point in Bobby saying no.
To me, the Reaper looked alot like Grimm’s Reaper - enough so I found myself trying to determine if he still had both ears.
In the end - IMHO - Bobby went with the reaper -
a.) the reaper was generally being nice/concerned
b.) Bobby was told, and appeared to believe, that that was all he had left in his head, that memory - and even it faded.
lastly - If the episode is to have any ‘real’ meaning, Bobby has to be gone - similarly to when they took John.
Sorry about that folks.
I know. I told my wife “The reaper is taking the form of Chuck”, only to realize later it wasn’t.

Why are you sorry?

While I agree with your conclusions more or less and you are probably quite right, I think there is a solid 20% chance Bobby will return in ghost form at some point.
I do know Jim Beaver has been in Japan quite a bit lately and he has not written anything about returning to Vancouver, so it looks like he is not returning soon. I follow him on Twitter.
I pointed this out to my wife. If we do not see(or hear about) the boys burning his body in the opening of the next episode, that is either a massive miswrite or a clue that he may be able to return.
Then again, did they burn Rufus? I remember them standing by a grave for him.
I don;t recall them showing the burning - but they did mention a ‘hunter’s funeral’, so I assume that he was.
