Samuel: “Is this what you guys do? Watch porn movies with angels?”
Castiel: “We’re not supposed to talk about it.”

Cas is such an awesome character.
I am still amused by and loving soulless!Sam. Today one of my friends described him as “the amazingly hot, gigantic lovechild of Dexter Morgan and Cordelia Chase,” which cracked me up. Hairwatch: excellent.
Cas and the porno was pretty amusing.
Dean’s desperation is getting palpable. oooooooh. I personally wasn’t a huge fan of Crowley (he just seemed like less of a character and more of a plot device to me), so I won’t really miss him.
What I could do with less of: rape jokes. Not really funny!
I have a dumb question to ask regarding Castiel. His movements and speech patterns seems to be jerky and uneven, even hesitant. Is this because the “meatbag” has different movement and speech patterns than the angel who has to make adjustments? If Castiel had to use a different “meatbag” would he still have an issue with talking and moving smoothly?
That’s just the way Cas talks. We’ve seen his vessel, Jimmy, and he has a completely different demeanor and speech pattern from Castiel.
I think that unlike other angels, he likes and respects mortals - which paradoxically, makes him uncomfortable around them. He certainly isn’t hesitant when it comes to combat.
I also liked the bit where Castiel starts kissing Meg and he obviously does a good job. Meg asks where he learned his technique from and he replies, “From the pizza guy”.
He said “We don’t talk about it.” because Dean told him that guys didn’t watch porn with other guys and talk about it.
I think I like Sam without his soul too. Edgier and sexier (if that’s ever possible). But Grandpa has to go. What a total demon patty. I don’t know how such cool characters like Sam and Dean could have come from such faulty stock.
Also glad that Crawley is gone, but with this show you never know. He could pop back any time maybe even in the body of some hot chick. If any show doesn’t know the meaning of “dead” it’s this one.
You know, I was surprised to see “Samuel” at all. Last I saw, his “body” died when the demon suddenly left (earlier, the demon knifed his human host and after the demon left the body, it slumped to the ground). I guess when Mitch Pileggi was called back, that pesky detail was skipped over. Much like any time someone needs to come back from the dead, evidently.:dubious:
That was kind of a major plot point - trying to figure out why Samuel had been revivified, and it’s been explained. I’m confused as to why you’re confused.
I guess I missed an episode. Oh well, I’ll catch it later.
Castiel should do more kissing scenes - that was totally hot. I also like Sam being more effective as a hunter without his soul (and threatening an angel - “I don’t sleep.”)
Dean threatening his “grandpa” was also interesting - he looked pretty cold when he said that, but Dean isn’t a grandpa-killin’ kind of guy.
I totally agree.
I guess I missed something too. Are we talking about the cousin who played Jonas from Stargate? I was also surprised to see him show up again. Did he not get killed previously? I remember him getting outed as a demon. Did he just escape? Or was he, as you say “revivified”? For the benefit of those of us who missed the key scene or bit of dialogue, how was it explained?
Samuel is Dean and Sam’s grandfather - he was revivified (or brought back from somewhere). Thinking about it, I’m not sure why Samuel was brought back, either - I know they were talking about what he wanted (to bring his daughter, Sam and Dean’s mom, back), but I don’t recall who brought Samuel back or why.

Samuel is Sam and Dean’s grandpa, aka Assistant Director Skinner. Back in Season 4, Dean met him when Castiel took him back to 1973 in the episode “What Is And What Should Never Be”. Samuel died in that episode, and that’s it, we’ve never heard from him until now. In that same episode, John also died, but Mary brought him back by making a deal with the Yellow Eyed Demon. Ten years later, Yellow Eyed Demon shows up, bleeds into baby Sammy’s mouth, kills Mary, and voila, we have the set-up to the entire show.
Crowley brought him back along with Sam, and they’ve spent the whole season trying to figure out what kind of game Samuel was playing, and why he had been brought back at all in the first place.
In the previous episode, it was revealed that Samuel was working for Crowley, helping him track down the Alphas. But Sam and Dean (well, mostly Dean, because Sam probably didn’t really care) were like “bzuh? Why would he do that? He was a hunter, why would he be working for a demon?” Crowley brought him back because he had such an encyclopedic knowledge of monsters and hunting, he’d be a good resource.
And finally we have the answer: Crowley promised to revivify Mary (his daughter) if Samuel worked for him. To Sam and Dean, Mary’s been dead for nearly 30 years, but Samuel missed all that, cause he was dead. So he agreed to do it, even if it involved fucking over his own grandsons.
And now Dean is really pissed off at him.
Does that make sense?

Confused? You won’t be after today’s episode of “As the Paranormal World Turns.”
Thanks - that does straighten things out. I liked Dean’s response to Gramps, too - “That NEVER works out! Don’t go there! Seriously, dude.”
Okay, thanks for the explanation. I must admit, I don’t always catch all the episodes in sequence; I guess this is a good example for Netflix.
I did too, but I think he might have been better served by asking Gramps “And do you think Mary would *appreciate *you making deals with demons and fucking over her sons to bring her back?”
Of course, the boys don’t have a leg to stand on with that first accusation, but the second is where they’d generally get hung up. At least until Appointment in Samarra. But hey, soulless and all.
What do you guys make of Death’s comment to Dean in this week’s episode?
“You boys are on to something. It’s all about the souls…You’ll know what I mean when the time comes…”
