Surprised that no one got this thread up and running early… This week’s episode is supposed to be an earth shattering event in survivor history. A new twist and all.
If you don’t know by now what the new twist is, avoid the cbs website’s preview. they tell a lot.
I just hope that the competition raises a few levels and that the in-fighting and position jockeying goes to an all-time high. We need some drama so I hope Jon sticks around even though everyone finds him grating we need someone to hate, don’t we?
As for predictions? I hope Osten leaves somehow, either by vote or as a wussing out. He so doesn’t deserve to be there with his pathetic attempt at survival. He might be built nicely, have good people skills and can live in the city with luxury, but this guy is pathetic out in the jungle.
Jon is on the outs with his vote being cast on Rupert last week. I want to see how that all plays out. How the jackass can save his ass from being isolated and eliminated. His idea was good to get rid of Rupert, but his execution of the idea was horrible. I need to see some hot tension.
Last weeks was surprisingly satisfying. I loved watching Andrew getting back at Jon - he would’ve held that bar for days to spite “that little pissant”. But
I’m not too psyched about the bootees returning. I don’t really care about any of the people they’ve booted off so far. I like that they’ve reached the point where they’ve narrowed the field a bit and we can begin to get invested in these people, and I just want the game to go forward, not backward.
Having said that, I see it as a showdown between Osten and Pete if Morgan loses, and Jon and Shawn if Drake loses.
And I have to say, as unpopular as this opinion will be, I’m getting a little tired of Rupert and his constant playing for the camera. This is a man who’s way too into his screen persona, if you ask me. Of course, it could be island fatique and stress I’ll never know myself, but it’s just getting on my nerves.
I am more excited about this episode than any other season’s show. It’s changing the fixed format of what happens - shaking things up. I’ve been looking for to this all week!
BiblioCat, I was wondering the same thing. That would be fascinating, but I don’t think it would appeal to my sense of fairness.
But unless they are bringing the castoffs back for this episode only, they’re going to have to start eliminating multiple people. Either by taking out a whole tribe at once, or booting two people at a time for the next five weeks, or something like that.
I hope Jon is really on the hot seat tonight. I’d love to see Rupert squash him like a bug.
I saw Boy Scout lady and Burton, I think, (could have been the skinny guy from Morgan) on Letterman. Boy Scout Lady said that she liked everyone in Morgan and did not interact at all with Drake. However, when asked if he made any money, white guy said “I don’t know yet.”
an entire team gets the heave-ho tonight, or, they keep 3 tribes for the rest of the game and the losing two tribes each have to vote off one of their players. It’s got to be one or the other or there’s no way to whittle it down to 2 players by the end of the game. Sadly, I suspect an entire team goes home tonight, based on what I gleaned from the preview video. If you’ve seen it, you’ll notice that the 2 existing tribes are flanking the new purple tribe of former bootees. Then, Jeff is shown pointing towards both of the flanking tribes and saying, “You may be going home.” It appears as if he’s addressing the entire tribes as opposed to individuals.
What doesn’t appeal to my sense of fairness is the fact that the bootees have been lounging around in a hotel, resting, eating well and not expending emotional energy on scheming and surviving. They’re in a much better physical and mental position to win immunity tonight.
Isabelle, go to http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor7/ . Look on the left-hand side for an icon of a video camera and the text, “ON THE NEXT SURVIVOR.” Click the camera to see the preview.
Shayna, in response to something you said in your spoiler box:
From what I understand, the cast-offs didn’t go to a hotel to await their return, they went to an alternate camp. So, they’re not all fat and sassy and in an particularly advantageous position.
I could be wrong, though. It’s just what I read.
Jadis, that would make it better, but there’s still the problem of…
they haven’t been competing in physical challenges and haven’t been competing mentally against their tribemates and the other tribe, trying to strategize or worrying about being voted off. Even if they haven’t been living in the lap of luxury, they’re still better rested mentally and physically. However, they are the dipshits who got themselves booted, so they’re not that fit and bright to begin with, which could work to their disadvantage in spite of their lack of physical exertion over the past few weeks.
Yeah, that would make sense, in that the bootee tribe comes back and competes as a new tribe, and the two losing tribes each go to TC each week and vote someone off. They’d whittle each tribe down quickly, but when would they merge? At the usual ten players?
It does offend my sense of fairness a bit (a good bit!), but hey, it’s Mark Burnett’s game and I guess he can do whatever he wants.
That said, I would hate to see either the whole team of Morgan or Drake be kicked off tonight. That would be really unfair.
Is it 8:00 yet?!? I am soooo looking forward to this episode.

From what I understandThe bootees were living in the same type of conditions as the remaining Survivors and TPTB made them exercise a lot (to expend energy that they’d normally do during use during challenges). I don’t think the conditions were that great, but they definitely have a mental advantage since they’re coming back with nothing to lose. They’ve already been booted so they might already be used to the idea.
I’ll just use this opportunity to post my guess for what the so-called “Big Regret” will be. No spoilers since it is my completely original guess that I have yet to see or read elsewhere and it has no basis on facts, evidence, or logic.
The big regret will be that Osten kills Pelican Pete. It was heavily alluded to last episode, everyone already thinks Osten is an idiot/weakling/loser, but not enough to really want him gone.
However, the pelican comes back, Osten is alone near it. It approached, he freaks, the bird stays close by, and Osten goes crazy with the machete. The tribe ends up seeing this and castigates him. It is a big enough screw up, that he would be having to deal with the repercussions of killing a basically harmless animal that is the tribe mascot and basically causing disgust among an entire viewer nation.
And, at some point prior to the season, I think I remember reading that somewhere along the line a pelican does indeed meet his maker.
Mildly spoilerish, so I’ll box it. It doesn’t give away anything big about the game itself.
Rupert and Christa did indeed kill a pelican, but were warned against eating it by the TV production crew. It seems pelicans carry all sorts of nasty bacteria that would have made them rather sick. I don’t know if this will make it into an episode or not.
So lemme see if I got this straight. There will not be a third tribe nor a merge anytime soon. Both Morgan and Drake will be receiving one new member. Or is that two new members? Would they be getting there old members back or the other tribes members. How will they decide who goes where? Why in the hell is Jon still there?
