What a stupid, lame episode. I hated the challenge, and, as I suspected above, in spite of not eating like kings, they were definitely still in better shape than the tribes who’ve been struggling to compete and strategize, which made me resent their win even more. And worse still, while they should have been thrilled with the opportunity to get back into the game, they all walked in with these sour, hateful, angry looks on their faces. Me, I’d’ve been smiling (perhaps a bit smugly) ear to ear. For their piss-poor sportsmanship alone, they deserve to get their asses kicked.
I’m completely convinced that there’s no way they’ll put a former Morgan back with the Morgans and vice-versa. There’d be too much animosity for that, and no chance at all of cohesion. It makes complete sense to swap them, hoping that the booted player will bond in unity with their new tribe against their former teammates.
I am still puzzled why Jeff didn’t allow the Morgan tribe to vote normally. Last season, Shawna was begging to be voted out, but the tribe kept her around, despite her wishes.
When Jeff forced the members of Morgan to cast their votes publicaly, he removed any chance for members of the tribe to vote anyone other than Osten out. Since Andrew, who is the obvious leader of the Morgan tribe, was the first to be asked who he would vote for, it was not surprising that the rest of Morgan agreed accordingly. If Jeff had allowed for the normal voting procedure, there may have been other plans and we may have had a different outcome.
Of course, even if the normal voting procedure was followed, I think Osten would have been voted out.
How did this guy even make it to the show? Don’t they run psychological tests to weed out the quitters?
I loved tonight’s episode, but felt screwed by the “to be continued” ending. I needed to know who’s coming back tonight!
Terrible day for Morgan and Drake. No reward challenge, instead they got a punishment challenge. Very unfair for the Morgans and Drakes because as others pointed out already, the Losers didn’t have it nearly as bad as the other two tribes. They slept in clean, dry, comfortable beds, had clean, comfortable cloths and hot showers and even the food couldn’t have been as bad–plus I’m sure they didn’t have to catch it themselves.
Jeff seemed completely disgusted by Osten tonight and I loved when he said “Go home”. Finally the biggest pussy in the history of Survivor is gone.
I had fun watching “Johnny Fairplay” squirm tonight and although I wanted him voted off, it makes sense to keep him since everyone on both Morgan and Drake loathes him.
Christa looked adorable tonight. Glad to see her face cleared up because I love that girl.
Not enough Rupert tonight, but he’s still the man.
I love Sandra, typical mouthy Puerto Rican chick. (I say that affectionately since I am Puerto Rican and know a lot of women just like her). I couldn’t believe it when she actually approached Jon and Shawn and asked them to say why they deserve to be there. She has a real nasty streak. I like that.
Poor Andrew looked exhausted during the challenge tonight. He has a huge heart, but the burden of carrying this tribe is wearing him out. Stupid Tijuana pissed me off when she said Andrew has “the best seat in the house”. Uh, leading a pack of clueless, heartless losers isn’t exactly an enviable position. For the first three weeks I expected him to get voted off like Hunter in Survivor Marquesas.
I hope that the week after the automatic immunity, the the loser members get voted off because none of the six people voted off really deserves to be back.
After next weeks automatic immunity, there will be the merge. Both Outcasts will make it then. They will then be on a equal footing to win individual immunity and win the game(But they may have to win individual immunity to survive as the other tribespersons may hold resentment and vote them out at the first opportunity.) Interesting twist that tries to spice things up, but fails and just annoys.
Rupert lost points in my book at the way he unleashed on Jon. Jon, weasel that he is, was just trying to play the game. It’s just a game, Rupert, relax. I understand voting out the stronger threat rather than the easily beatable weasal though.
Savage(when and why exactly did Probst stop calling him Andrew?) has gained points the past two weeks in my book. First, he was awesome in the weight lifting challenge last week. This week, his speech about the Outcasts not even belonging on this beach, I liked. I agree. The Outcasts didn’t play the game well enough and got voted out. They should be finished. This new twist is unfair and annoying.
Predictions for next week: Lill goes to Drake and Burton goes to Morgan. It doesn’t make sense to send the Outcasts back to the tribes they were already kicked out from and those two would be votes to come back into the game.
I’m pretty sure the origins of “Savage” have not been told on the air yet. I bet they explain it during the reunion show after the winner is revealed.
BTW, aren’t the reunions about ten thosand times better with Probst hosting? Bryant Gumbel was okay, but Rosie O’Donnel made me so angry the time she hosted because in all previous reunion shows (and all the ones since), every tribe member was addressed and had a chance to speak, but stupid O’Donnel skipped three or four people and asked dumb things all night.
This was almost certainly encouraged by the producers. It makes for a better story if they come back burning for revenge, than if they come back all happy and no hard feelings. Did you hear the way Probst leadingly said, “And the one thing on their mind is…” Then one of the Outcast women said “Revenge.” Obviously scripted.
Personally, I like the twist. I don’t really care who wins, I just want to see all the turmoil they go through to get there.
A great episode in my opinion! Jeff’s unmitigated disdain for Osten, throwing his torch to the ground, denying him a last word, and not even gracing him with “the Tribe has spoken” — these were things that universal justice demanded!
One question, though. What was that thing in the middle of Savage’s back that looked like a nipple?
I have a suspicion that the merger is going to happen after the next vote-off (the one where the outcasts are immune). That way, the teams will be finished, the outcasts can actually bond an ally, and they can compete for individual immunity — thus thwarting all the plans to gang bang them out of the tribes.
Drake was so stupid voting off Shawn. Jon should be GONE by now. He makes me so sick. I think his bullying people around is his attempt at being macho as compensation for his scrawny physique. I can’t even stand to look at him. Almost makes me now want to watch the show.
Rupert is powerful right now, because Saundra and Christa vote how he wants, so he effectively controls the tribe.
I actually like T now (didn’t at first). She’s smart enough to see how Andrew is strategizing in a way which is self-dealing, i.e., wanting to keep the outcasts out is his way of trying to hold on to power.
Glad Osten is gone - stupid Morgan kept him around even though he whined about going home. I think there was something queer about that.
I was wondering if this will count as Osten “quitting” or as him being “voted out” since technically they never voted, even though Jeff asked them who they would vote for. In the Amazon (the one with Shawna, who wanted to be voted out but wasn’t), the producers knew she wasn’t going to be voted out, so they let the vote go ahead as planned.
If they quit, they don’t get their money. Since Jeff put out his torch and laid it down, it seems like this will count as him quitting. He seemed to insinuate that Osten was quitting, IMO.
Also, will the person voted back in go back to their original trible, or maybe go back to the other tribe? Considering the harsh words from Andrew (what an ass!), I sure wouldn’t want to go back to my original tribe, if it were me. I’d want to go back, sure, but to the other team.
I can’t wait to see how they decide exactly who gets to go back.
So what happens to the Outcasts now I wonder? And did Osten really go home, or did he join their tribe?
And if Jon wins…ugh. I can never watch Survivor again. It’s funny, because it sound slike his own team doesn’t find him as annoying as Morgan (and the rest of the planet) does.
The Outcasts will probably go to the opposite tribe they were on. The merge will probably happen next week with one player going home and not being on the jury. What I think is interesting is that even if both Outcasts are voted out the next time they’re not immune, they will still be on the jury since they’ll be in the top 9 seats.
I’m going to agree with Andrew on this one. Skinny Ryan and Lil had absolutely no idea how to play this game, and they lost because of it. They don’t deserve a second chance because they didn’t earn it. I think there are few exceptions I’d make in this regard.
Best sound bite of the show:
[discussing the complete lack of food in Morgan]
Ryan O.: What would Skinny Ryan have done in this camp if he’d made it this far?
Andrew: He would perish.
I predict two more weeks of an Outcast challenge. Gives them the theoretical possibility of putting all 6 six members back in the game.
Anyone care to guess the Outcast voting system? Presumably they can’t vote for themselves (same as a normal TC), so previous alliances/friendships will come into play here. Also,
Lill and Skinny Ryan are an obvious alliance and will vote for each other. Any others?
Rupert turning into an idiot too. Keep voting out those strong members. Throw a pissy little fit when you get a vote- call it a betrayal. Then Screw Shawn over for him- after making promises to Shawn last week to save your butt. Hypocrite.
Anonymous Coward, I think it’s going to come down to how much interaction they’ve had with each other (other than at the immunity challenge). If none, then either Ryan or Lil will get back in from Morgan, and I’d bet on Burton.
If they have interaction, I think it’s a 50/50 chance between drawing straws, or Burton & Nicole.
I’d guess they’ll vote based on who most deserves to be back in the game. I can’t imagine who they’ll think that is; have they been on a third island all this time, eating short rations and getting to know each new castoff?
Who I’d like to see come back are Burton and Michelle. Burton because he worked so hard at the challenge, and Michelle because she’s pretty.
Great episode! Although, I was extremely disappointed that they didn’t do the Outcast vote last night. I hate waiting!
I hope the Outcast tribe won’t be back next week to participate in the challenges again. Even though it was a twist to bring them back, I don’t think it’s in the spirit of the game to allow them continued opportunity to get back in the game when they’ve been voted out.
Good riddance Austen…whiny pissant I particularly enjoyed Jeff’s ridicule of him at TC, not allowing him final words, etc.
And, I agree with whoever said that there will probably be a merge after next week. What would be the point in bringing back the outcasts if they just got voted off right away again?
