Survivor 3/13

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that. Matthew is a frightening looking guy. He’s got this intense, fixed stare, like a snake or something.

Okay, so tell me in what way Christy could make their lives easier. Is there any way she can communicate with the others without some cooperation on their part?

Alex really looks like Jeff, so much it’s creepy. Is that maybe why Shawna likes him so much?

I was happy that Christy was able to get into a tribe with more men. Deeper voices are usually easier for hearing-impaired people to hear; that’s true for me and it may be true for her. It was also really nice to see the way the men had the light on, made sure she could see them, and so on. As opposed to the girls making her walk backwards to see what they’re saying (on the way to the other camp). Did anyone catch the death glare Heidi gave her when she mentioned this at tribal council?

Why was Jeanne voted out? Was there a specific reason, or what? An alliance I missed?

what i meant is that she expects this extra attention, and she even used this as some kind of exclusion factor or “deaf card”.

She is well capable of playing more and exerting more of her own effort to get to know more and get herself involved rather than having others keep her in the loop or even part of the tribe.

The men seemed to be more receptive and responsive to her special need of reading lips but she could have taken more of an initiative with the women and get in the loop rather than saying that she was the poor deaf girl no one likes. She could have taken control of the lantern over in Jabaru and used it at night, although we have no idea wtf is wrong with their lantern cuz we’ve never actually seen it in good use.

Just saying if she wants to play a game that is high on conniving behaviour as well as creating blocs and alliances, and knowing that talking is the main method of creating these blocs she should be making that extra effort rather than others making that effort. It’s not their responsibility to get her in these said alliances. They don’t have to talk to her if they don’t want her in the bloc… If she wants to play a game that involves so much talking she should be iniating the dialogue that will get her far in the game rather than having people getting her in the group. You only go as far as you can get yourself in survivor and by the way she plays she’s just waiting for something that may or may not happen (which is getting into the majority bloc). If she wants to win and play well she needs to be more involved rather than just an observer and follower, and for God’s sake get over the fact that people are excluding you cuz ur deaf. It’s an easy way out, just like if Daniel used being Asian as an excuse he got the boot. I don’t like people using the “race” card nor do I enjoy seeing Christy use the “deaf” card.

All this said, this is based on what the producers show… but again…

I don’t like people using the “race” card nor do I enjoy seeing Christy use the “deaf” card.

Nope, you’re not the only one, he scares the beans outta me. My boyfriend calls him Plasticman.

Okay…

You knew the tribe mixup was coming. My only problem with it was that it was so early. I really enjoyed watching the dynamics of the same-sex tribes (just trying to figure out where the guys kept going wrong was one of the highlights of this show), and they really should have run with it a little longer. In the future, I think the best way to prevent predictable postmerge votes is to have more than two tribes, or do away with tribes altogether and put everyone in the same pot.

Maybe it’s that damn “hatred fatigue” again (I really gotta do another thread bout this sometime  ), but I don’t have a problem with Heidi taking the easy way out. What choice did she have? The best her alliance could’ve managed is a tie vote, with all the random lunacy involved with it (the simplicity of previous votes having been done away with ages ago), and there’s a possibility she would’ve been gone that night. At any rate, if her tribe wins the next two ICs, she’s still in it. (Don’t read too much into her unusual spelling of Jeanne…it’s been done before, and at least you could tell who it was, unlike “Denver Diva” or whatever it was whatshisname put.)

I think Jeanne was just grumbling about how this whole stupid contest is set up, particularly how hard work isn’t rewarded. I kinda agree with here, except that my beef isn’t that the best player doesn’t win, but that so much is out of your hands. Let’s face it, every champion has gotten really lucky in some way. Just the nature of the game. Doesn’t mean you gotta like it.

And with that, I’m out of words, so that’s it 'till next week…

After the swap, each tribe had three men and three women. Each group was essentially sticking with their original tribal/gender loyalty and planned on targeting the most vulnerable member of the opposing group. This would obviously lead to a 3-3 tie and each side was hoping to win whatever tiebreaker there was. The women didn’t know who was weakest so the chose Butch at random. The men chose Jeanne (while it wasn’t shown, this was probably based on information Dave come from Jenna).

Dave then approached Heidi and convinced her that if she joined with the men and voted against Jeanne, she would be part of a new four person alliance with Dave, Butch, and Rodger. In my opinion (along with the consensus of others) this was a lie Dave told Heidi and he plans on regrouping with his original tribemates after the merger. Regardless, Heidi believed it and voted against Jeanne (whose name she misspelled as Gene).

Heidi is a phys. ed teacher, IIRC. Apparently they don’t have to know how to spell simple names. In her case, she probably just lectures young impressionable girls about being as thin/transparent as possible. Gack. I fear for our youth.
