Survivor - 3/4

So, after the shocking departure of our hero, the remaining Survivors must go on! Who will be voted out this week?

I will continue to cross my fingers for Amber as each passing day goes by.

That said…
Sue seems the likeliest candidate, if her promo’d “meltdown” is any indication. Internet buzz seems to suggest a couple of things about this:

 1. Sue is EXTREMELY pissed about the touching of Rich’s man-junk last week. Odd, since there was seemingly little indication of her revulsion at the time, or even on the beach as they filmed Chapera returning to camp.
 2. Sue may actually walk off the show, instead of being voted out.
I’ve got nothing concrete to report, just the aforementioned speculation.

Re: Sue’s blow-up this week

If Sue’s blow-up is in regard to Richard well… gimme a break. Listen, Sue is a wanna-be attention hound. Recall her 1st season speech at the end? No reason for it other than to be controversial and be remembered. This woman just took a piss, in her bikini, in front of others, on the raft - some how I really do not think this dainty flower of womanhood was sincerely upset over having a little dingle-bit rubbed against her.

Of course, those who think this was ‘sexual assault’ feel free to flame away - it doesn’t change the fact that she is using the situation to manipulate and draw attention to herself.

I hope she does not get tossed though, the interactions between her and Tom are hysterical.

MeanJoe

As a woman, I can understand Sue being upset that Richard “took advantage” of her like that. But come on!!! If you’re upset about it, say something THEN!! The mere fact that it takes her days to be offended makes it completely phony in my eyes.

Just want to point out that the much vaunted spoiler list did not have Hatch going last week.

Very true. But the originator of that list, an online chap who goes by the name “Sleek28,” has already admitted to completely fabricating it. Apparently the first 4 boots were seen together in Panama, so Sleek conjectured the list, and (luckily) got the first 4 boots in perfect order. This lent credence to an otherwise-bogus listing.

All bets are off from here on in.

BTW, for those of you who are interested in the transcription of the Rich/Sue “beam incident” last week, so you may judge for yourself how valid Sue’s reaction is/was, a fellow by the name of Bungler has posted this listing over at SurvivorBlows.

Since you can’t see the pictures here, I’ll have to set it up. Richard is running the course completely naked, because (let’s face it) nobody wants to wrestle a fat naked Rich. Sue and Kathy are both standing on one support beam, as Richard is making his way towards the same beam:

[ul]
[li]Sue moving fast, gets on opposite balance beam from Richard.[/li][li]Jenna encourages her, “C’mon, Sue, nicely done.”[/li][li]Sue abruptly stops, turns around. Rob tells her, “Let’s go, get up there.”[/li][li]Sue points at Richard’s beam and says, “I want this one. I gotta take my time.”[/li][li]As Kathy approaches from rear, Sue crouches and taunts Richard, “C’mon, baby, your pee-pee ain’t {inaudible…could be “red” or possibly “hard”} no more.”[/li][li]Kathy says, “Excuse me,” and gets on her beam.[/li][li]As Sue and Richard meet up, she goes to put her hand on his hips hip and says to him, “Good job.”[/li][li]At the same time, Richard says, “Want some?”[/li][li]Sue says, “Yeah right.”[/li][li]Richard says, “{inaudible} somebody?” and very clearly thrusts his crotch at her, bumping Sue backwards and into Kathy, who steps off her beam, back to the platform, to avoid falling off.[/li][li]Sue says something that’s lost in the crosstalk, but you can clearly hear her confront Richard with, “Gross, Richard.”[/li][li]Jeff objects, “C’mon, guys, nobody cares about that stuff.”[/li][li]Everyone turns and continues down their respective beams, as Sue hollers back, “Yeah, we don’t, Richard.”[/li][/ul]
You can actually see pictures of the event here.

Thank heavens that list was fake, cause I was gonna have to swear off Survivor (again) were that final 2 to prove true!

From the TV ads, it does look like Sue’s angry outburst at Jeff is over the incident with Rich, but as MeanJoe said, this is coming from a woman who not only peed on the raft in front of everyone, but announced loudly that she was in fact, peeing on the raft. Hey, I might have peed on the raft, too, but I wouldn’t have alerted everyone to the fact. Sue has no tact.

I’m also a woman, but I can’t figure out that she’s that humilated by what he did. I didn’t really see it, and at the time was thinking the warning (before the IC) was because of the supposed violence of the fighting between tribe members, so I may not be the best judge. Even after reading Chastain86’s transcript, I still don’t think it was that bad.

From the transcript, it looks like Sue was the one who initially brought Richard’s wiener into play (heh). I guess Richard figured that if Sue wanted to use his tallywacker as ammo, it was fair game for him to respond and escalate.

A fellow fan just came in and told me that, according to the preview channel on her cable provider,

Sue quits tonight, and subsequently filed a lawsuit against the producers.

I ordinarily skip spoilers, so if anyone wants to respond to this, could you mention me by name? thanks

twickster, I’d find that spoiler dubious as I’d think that the Smoking Gun would be all over that by now…or? :dubious:

Yeah, plus it seems totally out of character for that individual.

When will I learn that spoilers aren’t spoilerized in email notices? :smack:
Dammit!

But I agree, that seems verrrry out of character for that person. Plus,

having two people quit in one season? That would have made someone’s spoiler board. No way could everyone have kept that quiet. I’m thinking maybe she threatens to quit, maybe even walks off in a huff, but comes back after someone (a producer or maybe even Jeff) talks her into staying.

As I understand it, this plot-development was picked up on, by none other than former Survivor-cum-internet scribe Jeff Varner.
Jeffy V. eluded to a “second survivor quitting” in his column several months ago. I think that’s what’s spawning all this talk of Sue quitting tonight. Otherwise, why would people think she leaves over it? Sue’s pretty famous for getting angry and spouting off, so her losing her sh*t is hardly grounds to suspect her departure…unless it ties the second quitting castaway to Sue Hawk.

Personally, I wonder if it’s all a ruse, and Sue doesn’t leave at all. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn it’s actually Ethan or Colby that quits on a future show, as I mentioned last week, but I guess we’ll see.
Wow, I know that was my spoiler – but I didn’t really believe it.

WTF?

Holy crap… this episode should have been named: “I’ve been bamboozled and sued!”

I just… well, my opinion is… see, I think that Sue… nah, I don’t need the heat treatment.

MeanJoe
One the one hand, I feel bad for her. On the other hand, come awn, Sue! Did she just grab an opportunity to file a lawsuit and get a settlement, since she knew she would never win?

Personally, I think the producers should have prohibited this everyday nudity on the part of Richard Hatch.

Also, I think they may have to raise the $1,000,000 to a sexier number, since, as we saw last season with Osten, $1,000,000 is not really all that much to be deprived over, relatively speaking, especially if you feel you don’t have a chance.

Hmm, my first reaction was to agree – but on what grounds?

I’m shocked. I half assumed the big blow-up was going to be more hype than reality. I should have been tipped off by how long it took for the tree mail to show up (but I hate the standing around talking trash about one’s tribemates and making deals portion and so was reading the SDMB and not paying much attention. For no more fuss than she made in last week’s episode, she sure got bent out of shape on this one. Of course, the fact that she couldn’t confront Richard once she decided she was furious and assaulted may have been a factor. I’m glad they went ahead and played the reward challenge, rather than talk about “the situation”.

Re: the issue of increasing the prize in the future. I kind of doubt that more money would be a major factor in those who left While anything is possible, I think Osten was kind of a fluke and a product of two tribes that were more unbalanced than intended(My assumption). Jenna and Sue have now both left for complicated reasons, including some baggage from previous seasons. (OK, Jenna’s main stated reason was her mom’s health) Sue and Richard went after each other just about every chance they got. She had an abrasive personality and might well have been the person who left at the end of the episode if their tribe had lost the immunity challenge that was not played.
