Survivor April 22 2010

Hysterically funny though.

On one hand I feel bad for him on the other he has a million dollars from a previous win.

So, Amanda knew that Parvati had idol, and didn’t tell her tribe mates. Still, no one knows that except Parv.

JT, JT, JT… you are now one of the Survivor Idiots. Who would’ve known that Rupert was the Hero genius.

It’ll be fun to see what happens next week.

Maybe Amanda did tell them, and that’s why decided not to vote for Parv. There’s a lot they aren’t telling the viewers. But it’s probably a sure bet Amanda didn’t know Parv had two idols, or that she would give them both away to the two most vulnerable Villains.

And JT is an idiot, and even more so for trying to blame his errors on the women at the end. He should just own it and stop trying to lay the fault somewhere else.

Russell’s also an idiot, laughing at JT for giving away idols, then Russell did the same thing with Parv, TWICE!, and then got blindsided. And I can’t see his ego being able to cope with finding out he isn’t the center of the universe after all, or that he got outwitted by Parv. So is this the beginning of the end of the Russell/Parvati/Danielle alliance.

It didn’t sound like he was blaming the women at all. He realized he screwed up. It sounded more to me that had underestimated the women on the other tribe.

Was interesting in that all the Heroes’ plans to break up the “Villain women” alliance is that they might have just made one.

First things first… oh YAY, another challenge where the winning attribute is being the smallest, lightest person. Ugh. I thought this was Survivor, not The Biggest Loser.

And what I said before about Candice possibly being a good under-the-radar threat to win? I take it all back. No one deserves to win after just dropping out of a challenge like that. Not when you’re the last person left from your alliance, have a good shot to win, and the person you want to most keep from getting the immunity is still in the challenge.

As for the awesome tribal council… wow. Just wow. Amazing move by Parvati all around. Not only does she take out JT, but she does so in such a way that Jerri and maybe Sandra will feel indebted to her. And its a good way to prod Russell into a weaker position. Now he quite possibly IS on the outs, but the Heroes sure as heck won’t trust him anymore.

As for the above “how did Parvati know”… I think she just read Amanda like a book. (Amanda’s pretty terrible with her emotions and is a bad liar/convincer). As soon as Amanda told her to play the idol, Parv probably immediately knew that playing the idol was exactly what the Heroes wanted her to do. (“Play that thing. FOR YOU!” Thanks Amanda).

Sandra might well be able to make a mess of things, but at this point I think we’re heading for a Parvati/Danielle/Jerri final 3, with Parv winning easily. And after her move tonight, I’d say she totally deserves it.

Well, JT gets his just desserts for Worst Move in Survivor History.

Wow. Fascinating to watch the interplay between Amanda and Parvati. So much withheld information. And you know- I’m not sure Amanda lost that battle. Maybe short-term, yes, but there are so many wild cards, it’s highly unlikely the rest of the game will go down tribal lines (Sandra has no loyalty and a friend in Rupert- she’ll be better served flipping at some point), and Amanda and Parvati both play well in chaos.

Still don’t think Amanda has a straight shot to winning (she ain’t gonna win a final tribal at this rate), but I still think she’s cunning enough to make the final four or five pretty easily. And who says she wanted Jerri gone anyway? She might do better in this scenario (J.T. gone).

Even if she doesn’t win again, Parvati has cracked the list of the top six or seven Survivor players ever IMO. Her social game is just astounding.

Wow.

In one fell swoop Parvati has:

  • Created the woman alliance that the Heroes just imagined
  • Pushed Russell out into the wilderness by alienating from the Heroes and the Villains
  • Installed herself as the leader of the game
  • Impressed the jury with a bold move

And to all those wondering how Parv figured it out, don’t you remember her talk with Amanda? Amanda was telling (over and over again) to play the idol. Cut to a Parvati confession: “I’m not going, I can read Amanda like a book.”

Wow, I’m behind the times - can you link to the Probst blog?

I’ve always liked Parv. Last night that grew to outright adoration. Not only did she cement her own position, but she pretty much secured the votes of Coach and JT in Final Council should she make it that far. And I agree…Amanda was as transparent as glass.

Blog.

It was fun to watch Russell get duped by Parvati. The look on his face was priceless. I’m not a big Parvati fan, mainly because I don’t like players who use flirting as a big part of their game, but I’ve got to hand it to her on this maneuver.

Oh there are a couple of worse moves. James getting voted out while sitting on two idols. Whats-his-face getting talked into giving up his idol by the girl alliance. I still think JT’s move just looks bad in hindsight and with perfect knowledge. Those two moves were stupid in real time.

I agree. If we had only seen what JT and tribe had seen, I bet many viewers would be confident that there was a girls’ alliance and would be applauding JT’s move (until it went horribly wrong). And don’t forget, he had to do something to repair the damage he caused himself by searching for the idol.

While I agree that Russell is now on the outs with both tribes, I don’t think he will go home next. I am going to assume that they are going to hide the two immunity idols that were just played and he is going to find at least one of them.

I really admire the move Parvati made. It was great strategy and worked out as she felt it should. It ousted JT and garnered goodwill from Jerri and the jury. She may have wanted to get the same goodwill from Sandra, but Sandra doesn’t play the game that way. If Sandra is not part of the final and Parvati is, it may swing Sandra’s vote to Parvati.

Agree.

Latest blog entry has been posted…

Right at the end JT said he no longer trusted Russell, and then he switched over immediately and repeatedly to saying that he didn’t trust women even more, and the mistrust of women was where he put most of his focus. I personally found that a bit weird, but also very telling.

Why?

Russell may have backstabbed him, but Parvati backstabbed Russell. When you lack the strength and speed of someone like JT, being able to lie through the teeth on your pretty face is a skill many women have used to go far in Survivor.

Just look at Parvati, there are a million reasons people should be wary of trusting her.

No, JT was much dumber. If you’re going to chalk up JT’s move to just a faulty assumption, then you have to give the same credit to James and the curly-haired kid, and absolve all three of them. JT not only gave away the idol that was the direct cause of his ouster, he gave it away to the other team!

He should have known immediately upon seeing Parvati at the merge that he had been duped, but instead fell for a concocted story by Russell. Even after being told by an eyewitness (Sandra) that Russell’s story was a lie, he refused to even consider that he might be wrong. When Rupert proves to be sharper than you, you know you’re dumb.

His move was a poison mix of cockiness, bad judgement, and misogyny. The fact that he blamed the women at the end when it was Russell that ousted him just seals the deal.

Yeah, I too thought it odd that JT said not to trust women. Dude, it was RUSSELL who sold you down the river. Parvati had no reason to protect you.

I was also impressed that Rupert wasn’t as gullible as poor JT. I was suprised that they would have ever considered writing Sandra’s name down after she was the one who tipped them off about Russell calling the shots.

I’m surprised that they didn’t choose to vote for Parvati.
