Even after Parvati shows up at the merge, J.T. continues to foolishly believe Russell because he’s a male that talks with a southern accent. J.T. confirms this when he says to Rupert and Colby that they can trust Russell because he’s a “good ole country boy.”
Even on J.T.'s exit interview doesn’t he say something that indicates that he still doesn’t believe Russell voted for him?
Idiot! How does crow taste J.T. especially after talking smack about Rupert?
Never been a Parvati fan, but that move was classic and brilliant.
Hopefully the dirty hairy troll will be removed soon and have to face the dragon slayer at the loser’s lounge.
I forgot to mention that JT missed the obvious clue when Parvati gave up on the immunity challenge. She basically told everyone “I have no need for the immunity necklace right now.” JT was being battered about the head with the clue stick but it had no effect. Too hard headed. He just knew those evil women were conspiring against him!
I wonder if J.T. is still clinging to the delusion that Russell did not betray him. He could justify it by thinking this season was mad with hidden idols. After all, there is no steadfast rule that says they have to recycle the same two idols.
The show is all about the idols, these days. And we are seeing some very advanced idol play. How long until we see another evolution of idol strategy, where an idol is given solely to gauge the reaction from the other tribe? Imagine this week’s tribal council where Parvati gives the idol to Sandra. The Heroes release a collective sigh of relief and Colby smiles. Sandra stands up and steps toward Jeff Probst, ostensibly to play the idol, then just as she arrives at the podium with an outstretched hand, she abruptly U-turns and hands the idol to Jerri.
They knew she had the immunity idol. Both via Amanda, and via Rupert’s observation at the challenge.
And JT did come around to suspecting Russell. That’s what they voted for Jerri instead of Parvati. (Meanwhile they told Russell they were going to vote for Parvati.)
I disagree. JT made a reasonable strategic decision based on the limited info available to him. (Bear in mind also that he was on the outs with the heroes because he looked for the idol without them. He was looking for a way to get rid of the idol because it was putting a target on his back.)
There was zero reason for James to sit on two idols. IIRC, at the time there were only two more councils where the idols could even be used. No strategy involved there. Meanwhile the kid who gave up his idol did so “as a show of trust.” What??? Where is the strategy in that? There was no good reason he had to give up the idol. JT had a damn good reason.
You would only need to stand up, pretend to start pulling out an idol, and then look at Amanda’s face. That will tell you everything you need to know about the votes
I disagree with this. JT didn’t have to act. He could have just sat on his idol and let the other tribe do their thing. The risk he took in giving away the single greatest advantage in the game was in no way merited by the information he had (which was none.) All the “information” was in JT’s head. He saw five women and one man and he decided then and there that there was a woman’s alliance.
His story about having to get rid of it was an excuse. He could just hag it from a tree in camp and say “after the merge, the first one of us who needs it gets it.”
No, the information he had was that the men were being voted off the Villains tribe. The last four villains sent home were men. He also presumably knew from watching past seasons that all-female alliances are a pretty common phenomenon. He played the odds that the women were taking out the men and that Russell, being the last man left, might be a potential ally. It was a gamble of course, but a reasonable one.
That’s a strategy that might get you a 6-4 majority going into the merge, rather than a 5-5 tie. Hanging the idol on a tree doesn’t accomplish that.
Hmm, IMO nothing he said helps his case one little bit, especially considering that JT was in fact the most untrustworthy Hero, flip-flopping with lots of his own lies early-on, and searching for the idol, and then getting caught red-handed by … the women!
If there is one rule that all Survivor players should have tattooed on the inside of the eylids it’s “Never be certain”. And that was JT’s downfall. He became certain that he could trust Russell, and would not even entertain the possibility that he was wrong. It can be reasonably argued that giving Russell the idol in the first place was not a dumb move. But after the merge, it was monumentally stupid to ignore all the evidence that pointed to Russell being a liar.
I agree 100%. Granted, we only see edited versions of what went on, but JT would not even entertain the possibility that he was wrong. You have to be very flexible in Survivor.
And if they had gone with JT’s plan to trust Russell, Amanda wouldn’t’ve tried to convicne Parvati to play the idol for herself, all the heroes vote for Parv, Parv plays an idol for herself, the votes are null and JT still goes home.
this statement is false, JT wanted to trust Russell. Rupert demanded a fail safe plan just in case things aren’t the way JT believed, hence JT succumbing to Rupert’s “idiocy” and placating his doubts. Rupert being the smart one makes for your side to lose. JT really believed Russell, he had no slight inclination as to have doubts, his “good ol’ country boy” comment shows his rocksteady belief that Russell was trustworthy. This stereotyping made him blind to the fact that Russell was playing him. Even with the talk of Parv and HII to Amanda, the heroes had three choices to vote for Danielle/Jerri/Sandra. But with Candice giving the Villians the Immunity, that left 2 possible choices to throw the heroes vote. Jerri/Sandra, Parv did the math and gained huge props from me for thinking out the way the vote would be played and how much she can read Amanda like a book.
Trusting Russell after merge had everything to do with JT’s downfall.
If he didn’t fully trust him, he would have listened to Rupert’s suspicion. If he didn’t fully trust Russell, he would’ve known that there’s HIIs out there to be played and that can stymie his potential plans.
The Heroes came up with a plan that would hope that Russell was on their side. Rather than vote for Russell, they kept him in play. That was probably at JT’s insistence.
JT’s demands that they trust Russell led to them not considering him for the vote (meaning that he or Parv didn’t need to protect Russell with an idol). They were giving him the chance to “prove himself” and that meant they weren’t going to vote for Russell, instead targeting Jerri or Sandra. If JT didn’t insist on trusting Russell post-merge, the Heroes likely could’ve pursued Sandra as an ally and taken out Russell or one of Russell’s allies. Remember that Sandra said she was going to vote with the Villains (even though she wanted Russell gone) because she felt like she had no other options - the Heroes weren’t letting her join them.
