I am SOOO glad Sandra won! If Lil or Jon had won I would have never been able to watch that show again. I thought Jon was the worst player ever to play the game. He was so obnoxious and so over-confident. One more negative comment about women and I was going to start hunting him down.
Lil was annoying period
Sandra…I liked her. I’m not sure why, I just did. The thing with the fish and then her planning to hide all the stuff before tribal council just cracked me up.
I’m really hoping that Jon was being a jerk again when he mentioned All-Stars. I can’t watch another season with him. Not even for my lovely Ethan and Colby. And Big Tom! He’s so crazy! NO JON.
I’m still harboring lots of anger that you deserted me in this god-forsaken piece of shit town. It got really busy at work on Friday, so I had to abandon our correspondence, but I’ll write back today, I promise, hon.

I don’t remember hearing Lill think along those lines at all. It seemed to me that she just didn’t want Jon to have any chance at all because his lifestyle is so different from hers.

Here’s Lil’s quote (bolding mine, of course):
So yeah, even dumb Lil recognized the fact that there was a good chance she’d lose against even the guy everyone hated because a) he “played the game” and b) she had the outcast factor going against her. The woman was an utter moron, but she earned a teeny bit of respect from me for at least realizing that much and picking the more deserving person to win, since she pretty much knew she couldn’t.
Oh, and kindof backtracking to another subject; Lil’s scout uniform. What happened to the sewing machine and fabric that Drake won in one of their challenges? Did they only get to keep it for a short time (perhaps until the next set of challenges)? Usually the things the teams win are kept throughout the game. If that’s the case, she had no excuse for living in that uniform once the tribes merged. A simple top and skirt could’ve easily been made with what they had there, she just chose to stay in her uniform. Therefore, her whole argument about wishing she hadn’t been wearing it was completely without merit.
I kind of hope that they go back to at least a couple more physical challenges once they get to individual stuff. It is kind of sad the Rupert was voted off for being too strong in the challenges, when in reality he wouldn’t have had any advantage in any of them from that day on.
Jon, the “King of Men” getting beaten by a completely broken down old chick. Priceless.
I gotta give Lill some respect for at least showing some balls on the last challenege. I had her pegged for whining and crying, but she hung tough and told Jon to shove his deal up his ass. Hehe
I spent the past three weeks blah-blahing about how stupid Sandra was – not seeing the Burton-Jon turn on Rupert and going along with everything Jon said up to last week. I will cop to now saying I was loud wrong.
A tiny ungracious part of me thinks that she had no strategy and was flying by the seat of her pants and lucked into the final when Lil made a “Cobyian” mistake taking the person you were more comfortable and liked better along – sh^t it was like she was saying I’d vote for her – so why would you not expect the rest of the jury to? Truly amazing
But that would be ungracious – Sandra had her core alliance ripped away & got Jon, maybe her bitterest enemy’s, vote. Kudos I couldn’t have done it.
Anyone know when All-Stars wrapped? I mean
If Rupert, and perhaps Jon, were sitting there does that mean anything?
Thank you for clearing that up, I must’ve missed the “in five out of” part. Maybe too busy being happy at the outcome. I don’t think Shayna made the same goofy mistake, just commented, and rightly so, that Brian also won the last immunity challenge.
As far as the All-Stars season, I feel like I’m missing out. I never did see the first season and it looks like quite a few people are returning from that show. I’ve read comments about Sue’s abrasiveness and notice that a lot of people seem to like Richard Hatch. The mix seems to be pretty crazy regarding liked and disliked survivors.
Jenna L. - perky, energetic, single mother. Lots of energy, was regarded as “annoying” by several other members. A member of the losing tribe, whose one-by-one vote-out coined the term “Pagonged” (after their tribe name). She didn’t receive a video from her family and it was one of the first times Survivor sensationalized human emotion for great TV
Sue - abrasive truck driver with a grating accent. Betrayed by Kelly at the final 4 and delivered the famous “if you were dying in the desert I wouldn’t give you water” speech (which also included the infamous snake/rat bit). Although Richard wanted to get rid of Kelly, she kept winning immunity. When it got down to the final 4, Kelly had immunity. It was a tie with Sue/Rudy (kelly/sue - rudy, rudy/rich - sue). Kelly was asked to think about the vote, she voted again and voted Sue out.
Rich - first master of the game. Walked around naked, was clearly playing the game hard when some of the other people on the island just seemed to be enjoying a tropical vacation. Forged the first alliance with Kelly, Rudy and Sue and had a sub alliance with Rudy. Played off Dr. Dave’s alphabetical vote strategy to help oust others without including him in the alliance.
To catch up on the entire season, you can read various vid caps. The cbs site has one that isn’t that time consuming:
I don’t think Rupert won the All-Stars because he looked like he put on a few pounds since the show. I don’t think 5 days was enough to compensate for the weight loss resulting from 35 days on an Island.
Felt sorry for Lil. Man, did they slam on her. It’s always the same with the losers. They want to criticize the person sitting on the winner’s spot for doing the EXACT same thing they did. If I were in the same situation as Lil, I would have replied like this, “When you play Monopoly, do you apologize for winning? Do you feel badly that bankrupting another player is contrary to your moral code? No. Because it’s a game. I played by the rules and the rules almost encourage players to lie and scheme. And I shouldn’t have to apologize for being here.”
Christa’s bitterness at Lil was surprising. Lil never targeted Christa, she merely went along with whichever voting block wasn’t targeting her. And Rupert’s bitterness was also surprising. Why are people so self-absorbed that they think other people should play the sacrificial lamb so that THEY can advance. I suppose Rupert and Christa thought Lil should have been pleased that they offered her crumbs.
Reminded me of the Neleh/Pascal situation in the Back to the Beach Survivor. They kept voting with their tribe until it was painfully clear that the four “leaders” were plotting to be the final 4 and Neleh and Pascal were going to be 6 and 5. Amazingly, they thought that Neleh and Pascal should have been content with the crumbs they were offered and were genuinely surprised and pissed when they joined with the underdogs from the other tribe (who were being picked off one by one) to vote off those in power.
Rupert was way too transparent and Lil would have been stupid to keep voting him along, knowing he had no intention of voting someone from Morgan into the Final 4. So Rupert ought to be kicking himself for his own stupidity, not Lil for saving herself. That, after all, IS the point of the game.
Oh yeah, and Andrew Savage’s remarks that a Boy Scout leader just shouldn’t lie were ridiculous. By his reasoning, it’s okay to be a slimeball in the game if you’re a slimeball (e.g. an attorney) in real life. But if you’re a Boy Scout leader, integrity should be above all else. Hey dude, it’s a GAME.
Besides, if that game was a slice of life, Andrew would have no business being a leader of anything. His tribe was starving and I’ve seen snails who had more motivation than they did. They were single-handedly saved by Rupert.
Was it me or was the Jury much more bitter than previous years? Like Pundit said, it seemed like everyone had an axe to grind and was bitter at Lil for playing the game the same way they did.
Just to tie up a couple of loose ends that are floating around:
Re: Jon and All-Stars
Jon isn’t on All-Stars. The “look” that he got from Jeff after commenting about his grandfather dying for the A-S show was because someone’s (I can’t remember who, but I remember reading about this on one of the spoiler sites) relative really did die during filming of A-S… I have no idea if Jon could have known this, but Jeff responded as he should have- horrified that the little pissant would say something like that after a real tragedy had taken place.
The story of Deb and her stepson is just that- she married her (much younger) stepson. As a stepmom myself, may I just say- EEEEEWWWWW. She tried to explain it away by saying she was never really involved in raising him (IIRC he was over the age of 18 when she married his father), but still. Eeeeeeewwww.
I noticed the weird thing with Rupert’s mouth, but on close viewing it’s a trick of the shadows caused by his beard and the way he holds his mouth when he talks. He’s got all his teeth.
Burton and Michelle hooked up after the show. Big brother, indeed.
Apparently he was seen at the WalMart in a his hometown around the time All-Stars was going on so he’s not in it. Maybe he was just angling for a spot in All-Stars 2, if there’s ever another one.
I won’t comment on Lill’s uniform except to say that she could’ve put it aside and quit with all the Boy Scouts crap, but she didn’t so she shouldn’t have been too surprised when it turned out to bite her on the ass. There is a code of conduct for scouts when they’re in uniform and she chose to continue wearing it so I don’t feel sorry for her when they ragged on her because of it.
I was really stunned that the jury was so down on Lil. They seemed to hate her. Not what I was expecting at all. When most of those players were in the game, they seemed to regard her as a bit goofy/wierd if they noticed Lil at all. I didn’t sense much animosity, except maybe from Andrew.
I absolutely despise Sandra. The thing with stealing the fish and letting Christa (in her alliance!) get blamed for it, and her plan to hide all their tools before she got voted out? That’s just plain stinking mean and nasty–not even strategic. If I was her boss, I’d fire her after seeing that.
Lil was just dumb. I don’t think she can be blamed for any hypocrisy at all–she just doesn’t have the logical power for it.
Jon I despise as a person, but I admire how he played the game. He worked hard.
Sattua if you were her boss, she’d be saying fuck the job and fuck you, you mother fucker! I can get loud too! I’m a millionairess and you’re what? a schmo working a nine-to-five job…and so on, grating her abrasive personality on yours.
I found that this edition of survivor to be great. Lill DID NOT deserve to win. She was an outcast and was voted out once, not deserving at all. I was glad she didn’t get a win. I actually thought it was going to be a 7-0 sweep for Sandra. Lill didn’t really endear herself with the remaining Morganites and she picked off every Drake but Sandra. Burton was “backstabbed”, so I really thought Sandra was gonna have a real clean sweep.
I thought Tijuana was right in her assessment of her given question though and can see why she gave her vote to Lill. Sandra said something like “Lill had a hand in getting all of you voted out”, which kinda meant she was the dark horse that voted out their sorry asses, which leads to be strategic and “smart”. But we knew otherwise, Lill was the dolt, waxing sentimental as much as possible with that leatherface of hers.
I can’t wait for the All-Star Edition. It’s too bad Jon wasn’t part of it. I really did like the guy for his gameplay. He was entertaining, Survivor needs players like him and less of the morons that Lill was.
As per her gettting ragged on for her Boy Scout uniform. No sympathy from me. I thought Andrew was a bit vindictive by saying she didn’t deserve to lie and such and pure double standard, but Lill didn’t have to wear that shirt day in and day out. That’s the only thing that made her seem like a total moron. why wear that shirt if you plan on not representing the Boy Scouts. She shouldve just taken it off and used it as a pillow or something when she began to “play” the game. It’s like a minister enters Survivor and wears the collar. It’s a symbol and if you plan on not living by the standard/code of your clothes or uniform just take the damned thing off.
great season of Survivor, and again, I can’t wait for the AllStar edition.
Some spoiler sites also list Sandra and Ken the cop from Survivor Thailand as “alternates” (whatever that means) for the all star edition. I really don’t want to see Ken back. He was a spiteful, sore loser who couldn’t accept that his weak tribe was outnumbered at the merge and got picked off one by one.
I’m curious to see what angle the all stars pull because now everyone is on to them. The masterminds (Richard Hatch, Rob C, Rob M, Lex) will be targets because no one will want to be used by them. It would be wise to dump Tina soon before she slips under the radar again. I’m eager to see how the purely great competitors like Alicia, Rupert, Kathy and Colby are dealt with since they’re known threats from the beginning.
And what the hell are Shii Ann (who didn’t even make it to the merge in Thailand) and the ultra dull Amber doing back? And where is Michael Scupin, a great player who loved the game, never had a vote cast against him and has repeatedly indicated a strong desire to have a second chance to compete? I would’ve loved to have seen him teamed up with Rupert.
As far as the teams go, green team is stacked with talent and looks to dominate, but I wonder if chemistry will be a problem. They have three alpha males who all want to be in charge.
