Not many planning on watching Survivor tonight?
Oh, I’m planning… but when you asked for predictions, I got stuck on Amanda and Parv ending up naked. Took me a while to get past that.
Well, an All-star will win.
Has Amanda played more days of Survivor than anyone else in the history of the show?
Ok, now that the “remember your fallen comrades” nonsense is out of the way, bring on the challenge. I’d be happy with Cirie or Amanda winning, though if you put the two as the final two… I’m going to go with Amanda.
Cirie’s played a hell of a game – I’ve got to root for her.

I was rooting for that ruthless brilliant nurse, dammit!
Either one of the tramp-stamped duo will probably blow it all on clothes and shiny, shiny things.
Unless the editors are up to their usual tricks, the jury was not impressed with Amanda’s (genuine IMO) anguish and in ninety minutes Parvati of the horsey smile will walk away with a mil while worthier people like Yau Man, Jonathan, Cirie, and even Erik sit there and have to clap for her.
<shakes fist ineffectually at Fate>
Parvati is James’s fluffer!
Ooof. This is why we rented Sweeney Todd to watch tonight (well, we rented it because I really want to see it, but this gives me more reason to watch it tonight). I really can’t stand Amanda and Parvarti–they’re the LAST two people I wanted to see going for the million.
I’m glad this Pacific coaster deliberately read this thread to spoil things for herself, because watching two hours of filler and glurge in the hopes Cirie would be up for it–and isn’t–would be wasted time. Hubby and I are both nonchalant about watching; we didn’t know the finale was tonight until the DVR reminded us it was on the To Do list. We are both curious about the reunion, so I’ll let the DVR record it and watch it either later tonight or later on. I’ll be reading here to see if it’s worth watching, either.
What would most make it worth watching: the audience BOOING the final two.
:::joins Mehitabel in shaking fist:::
Well–that was the most uncomfortable jury TC evah.
Honestly have no idea who’s going to win. Hate 'em both–I guess I hate Amanda a little less, but some choice we have.
BTW, around 2:00 today I was in midtown so I checked out the Ed Sullivan Theater to see what I could see. The front of the theater looked the same with all of Letterman’s stuff; aside from a few people sweeping, you couldn’t see any activity. However, turn onto 52nd St. and the north sidewalk was blocked off, with lighting and equipment trucks along the curb (although the street itself was open) including a giant 53’ Denali dressing room truck (had the measurement on the side). The old stage doors were open but the set was done and all that was left outside were some Teamsters and huge empty trunks.
Aaaaand, while I’ve been typing this out, Parvati Shallow won a million bucks. The universe hates me.
Holy cow!!!
Parvati won 6-3 over Amanda?!?!?
I’m blown away. I totally thought it’d be 7-2 or 8-1 the other way.
That was the weirdest final tribal council ever. I was sure that Natalie was going to ask Parvati to marry her and that Ozzy was going to ask Amanda to marry him.
As for the final - I think Amanda lost the game with her answer to Cirie. She should have been honest and just said, “Cirie, I couldn’t win against you, I figured I had a shot to win against Parvati. That’s why you’re not sitting here right now.”
So, I think with two seasons of evidence, we can safely say that Amanda cannot get through a Final Tribal Council without choking. Ever.
As TIP said above, she answered the wrong question when she was answering Cirie. The appropriate answer to Cirie asking “Why does Parvati deserve a million more than me” is “She doesn’t. The object of this game is not to give the million to the most deserving player, but to the most deserving player who’s still here at Final Tribal Council. We all played this game for ourselves. I could not win against you, period. You have three children. You’re incredibly charming. I could not win against you. And that meant I had to vote you out.”
Just because the question you should be answering wasn’t asked doesn’t mean you shouldn’t answer it anyway.
In other news, I can put this season on the “Ending Sucked” shelf. It was a great season up until tonight.
jayjay speaks for me. Aside from raging assholes like Mikey and Jason, Parvati is the one I least wanted to win the million.
I agree that Amanda screwed up the Jury Questions again, although not nearly as badly as she did in China, and she should have been more honest to Cirie. However, if the reaction to her speech about her decision in the penultimate council was true, she had already lost it. Nobody seemed to believe her doe-eyed sadness.
I would have held my nose and given her the mil over Parv, though.
I love James, he comes up with the best lines ever.
“He took the life jacket off and handed it to the women in the boat.”
Reading this thread, I am now very glad that I stopped watching this season after around the 6th or 7th episode. I hated Amanda, Poverty, and Cirie.
What you said.
Damn. I wanted Cirie to win. I would’ve been okay with Amanda winning. Both Natalie and Parvati rated way below.
How many damn commercials are in this Reunion???
Anyway, what was the last thing Erik said that made the audience cheer for him?
I think Cirie was the best player. She was the instigator of nearly every pivotal scheme, but she did it so well, she just planted a seed and let others do her dirty work. To survive into the final three without ever winning immunity is testament to her ability to play people against each other.
The surfing hippos of Gabon look very cool indeed.
