I agree that Rob played just about a perfect strategic game. When the season began, I figured both he and Russell would be out before the merge. I know Rob said it’s time for him to stop playing this game, but I think now we need a Rob vs. Amber season. (j/k, I really like Rob and I’m glad he won, but he should definitely stop now).
It was interesting that both girls knew that Rob had the HII. The tricksy Survivor editors didn’t show us that, though the fact that we were not shown ANY discussion about the HII made me think there must have been some talk that was purposefully not aired. I wonder at what point did Rob show them that he had it.
Too bad that Grant is still butthurt about getting taken out by Rob. That’s why you lost, dude.
I’m SO glad that RI was pretty much a non-factor. I would have been pretty disgusted had Matt come back and won the whole season after being voted out twice. I’m not happy to hear that next season will be a retread of this one. I’m not sure who I would like to see back as the returning players.
That was a really awkward proposal and “acceptance,” even the part where Probst was prompting David to make his move. I really thought for a minute she was just going to come out and say “sorry, no.”
You guessed right! Matt was runner-up, they were separated by about seven percentage points. I for one think that if the FF winner is also the Winner, the second-place finisher should get the money.
I for one would also rather die than see Redemption Island come back, and also Samoa (“South Pacific”, pathetic!) which we’ve had a year ago twice, and I just know the two returning players will be the two faces I want to see least in the world. But CBS does not listen to One.
Even though he was playing with pygmies, congrats to Rob. Once my original faves were voted off, he deserved it, and the other two agreed with him with a puzzling unanimity.
No kidding. I had a big crush on her when she was on the island. In the reunion show… not so much. And I’m sure when she finds out that some random internet guy twice her age thinks she looked better before, she will be devastated.
Seriously, why do people get so worked up and surprised when people play sneakily and make deals and backstab to win the game? Have they never watched the show before?
After watching the promo I’m pretty sure that it’s two contestants from this season.
I am almost positive I caught partial shots of Matt and Andrea.
I know I’m in the minority, but since they seem to always merge the reward and immunity challenges nowadays, I really don’t mind the RI challenge taking up some air time. I agree with an earlier poster that a hidden immunity idol for the RI might spice things up, like they used to do for that other isolation thing they had going before (how did that work again?). Hopefully they’ll fine tune RI and, yes, drop it after the merge.

Don’t think it’ll please a lot of fans to have their vote nullified because their favorite won.
The biggest issue I have with this season is not RI, but the fact that Rob didn’t have any honest competition. Sure, he picked off everyone in Zapatera, but none of them really gave him a run for the money after they’d ousted Russell. Same thing with Ometempe – other than Phillip, it seemed nobody had any serious strategy.
It’s easy to win a million bucks after 4 tries when there’s nothing keeping you from winning it. Even the challenges were tailored to Rob’s gift for puzzle solving. But that’s beside the point.
He did play a great game. I don’t question that at all. But I’d love to see him play the same game with people on his level rather than people blindly following him.
I didn’t stay up to watch after I saw Rob and Amber and the kids. Rob totally controlled the season. It couldn’t have been more of a one sided victory if it had been scripted.
I’ve got to ask…Jeff said he’d ask Phil if he really was ex-fed. What did Phil say?
And Natalie. Wow, what a change. I would not have recognized her.
Yeah. I thought his reasoning for still being mad at Rob was lame. To have the expectation, that everyone’s line and way to play the game should be just like yours shows immaturity and pettiness.
Phillip v Coach would be a hoot to watch. If I never see Matt again, it will be too soon. “God made everything happen” assholes like him are too annoying. I’d rather watch a whole team of Phillips than one of Matt.
To be fair to Matt, during the reunion he did say something like “It is great to have faith, but I learned that it doesn’t mean you have to throw away logic and reason.”
