Anybody else think Tom might have kinda thrown the reward challenge because (a) there’s that curse thingy, and (b) owning a red corvette in NYC is kinda dumb?
That Corvette is gold, baby. How much do you think the Survivor Corvette would sell for on EBay?
Tom’s realizing what a dumbshit Ian is. All he has to do is listen to Tommy and he’s in the final three. Ian almost fucked it up for all of them.
Unless Jen wins a miracle IC, she is done for. Katie is guaranteed a spot in the final two and will lost to whichever between Tom and Ian win the final IC.
I never watched much Survivor until this season. It’s obvious to me after most episodes that they edit the thing to make it look like stuff happened way differently than it reallyt did. Why would Jen have voted for Caryn? She should have been in with the girl’s plan. Caryn’s reaction made it clear that she knew they were all voting for her too. The editing tricks are blatantly obvious a lot of the time.

Well Ian said he’d never owned a car before because he never had the money for it. Um…car insurance on a brand new Corvette? Expensive…
Something I just noticed last night–they made a big deal out of Ian going to Katie five minutes before they left for TC, so she wouldn’t have time to go talk to Jen and Caryn.
But she still found the time to go off into the woods and talk to a camera…
Not to mention the tax on that sort of thing. Damn!
So, to what degree is Tom responsible for being taken on the Reward? Ian said that he and Tom had agreed the night before that if there was a car involved, they’d each take the other on the reward. Ian said they shook on it. That agreement seems to have been made AFTER they each named which woman they would take on the reward. So doesn’t Tom get some of the responsibility for Ian being a complete dumbass?
I’d like to see Ian win it all, but he screwed up royally at least twice in the last episode. I was gaping at the screen.
I was actually under the impression that Ian made that up on the spot. Did I miss the agreement between the two of them? Ian was wearing his “I’m LYING!!” sign when he said it.
Yikes. As this epsiode started, I told my SURVIVOR friends that I thought Ian was possibly the best player ever. WRONG!!! That was all just crazy. I still don’t know how the 4 of them managed, in all that confusion and yelling and maneuvering, to vote for the same person at TC. Amazing.
They don’t just wander off to talk to the camera when they feel like it. They’re told that now’s the time for the interview. They probably separate them before they go off to TC for interview time then let them all go back together to get on the boat.

Maybe he just didn’t want to be alone-alone with Katie…
Well, if that’s the case then… wow. Unbelievably stupid. The boy doesn’t have a political bone in his body. It was kind of fun/painful to watch how dumbfounded Ian was that there were ramifications to his decisions. And this from the guy who said, “This is Survivor. It’s not Parcheesi.”
That is exactly my point. Selective editing. The end result was way more determined in advance than they made it seem.

You’re not the only one. This is evidence that Jamaica was first settled by migrant Palauans.
This is funny, because it appears to be true. And yet he was elected President of the Undergraduate Student Goverment Association at Penn State in 2003. (Check out the picture at the bottom of the article and tell me the boy wasn’t destined to be on Survivor.)
Aw. He’s already got a little buff.
Well, hmmm. Good for him. But sometimes, especially in schools, good people win just because they’re well-liked, rather than because of political savvy.
Can’t wait to see what happens in the finale. I think even Jeff is genuinely interested this time around.
I too was baffled by Ian’s behavior last night. Despite his terrible lying abilities. (“It’s me, you, and Katie— I mean, Tom.” and “It’s going to be interesting tonight.” “Interesting?” “No, I just mean that… er… um…”) he seemed to have a grasp on the game to rival the great Rob Cesterino (sp?). So I was baffled by him choosing Tom and not Katie.
But here’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense: Vanuatu is a big blur to me. But remember on All-stars when Rob took Amber on the car challenge and she got one too? Maybe that’s what they thought would happen? Did it happen on Vanuatu? Actually, it probably doesn’t matter since they were probably on Palau already when Vanuatu was airing. So maybe they made that deal thinking they’d both get cars, and even if they lost out on the big bucks, they’d have something at least…
Obv Ian’s decision to take Tom was awful. Here’s what I think his rationale was:
“Katie’s solid with me, so there’s no need to take her. If I take Tom, then Tom is less likely to backstab me. And then, if Tom doesn’t win immunity, we can shove him out and it’s me against three girls, and all your immunity belong to me. Mwahaha.”
At least, that’s how I imagine it. He is devious, at least in the planning stages. It’s just that his execution, well, sucks ass. He can’t deliver his lines to save his life. I think he manipulated Tom over the course of the game more than Tom manipulated Ian. Tom’s just better at massaging the other players.
And FWIW, I think Katie’s playing a solid game. I respect every single one of her gaming decisions, with the exception of getting in a public pissing match with Caryn early on in the season. I also don’t think those were crocodile tears she was shedding. For one thing, if she was merely scheming then, when Ian offered to sacrifice himself for her, don’t you think she might have taken him up on it? At least a bit, instead of forgiving him? No, I think it was genuine. Ian’s likely never been in much of a relationship, I think.
so why did Jenn vote for Caryn? what’s her angle? has anyone besides Tom/Ian won any of the immunity challenges? i’ve a feeling she’ll be in the final three.
my take: after Ian’s ‘yeah. the three of us. you and her- choke’ to Caryn (paraphrased. iirc) with Tom right next to him, Tom ditched any thoughts of taking Ian to the final two and cemented an alliance with Jenn. Jenn is all too happy to go along as Tom/Jenn > Ian/Katie wrt challenges.
so it’s 2v2, and the next to go is either Ian or Tom.
I agree with you, here, even if it sounds like I don’t. I think, like JSexton said, that Ian is very smart with the behind-the-scenes planning stuff, but when it comes time to execute, something misfires in his brain. I can sympathize, because I often have the same problem. The best laid plans of mice and men, and whatnot. Really, I think that Tom has no reason to doubt Ian’s loyalty, just his sanity. What is think is going to happen, though, is that Ian is going to get screwed, and not in the good way, either. He is honest to a fault, and it’s going to kick him in the ass.
Unfortunately, I agree as well. Poor, poor Ian. Rob C. was the smartest player ever to lose, because he lied to everyone. Ian’s going to be the smartest player ever to lose because he couldn’t lie.
I hereby offer myself up for the comforting he will so desperately need.
Me too, me too! I’ll help him break in those nice leather SRCC seats …
