I think Kathy made the right choice. It was a very difficult thing to weigh out, and she was lucky that Sean put on such a show. That left her with new knowledge that she didn’t have before, or at least didn’t know for sure.
He doesn’t listen. She learned that, when she sat around talking to him about strategies, he might not have heard anything she said.
He lies. She might have suspected this already, but he went from hemming and hawing over his relationship with Vecepia to outright blatant lies about it, letting her know that she couldn’t trust him.
He’s crazy. What before might have been attributed to mere enthusiasm or youth was now clearly a paranoia, a desperate man on the verge of panic, willing to shout down anyone else who spoke.
Learning those things, she had to do what she did.
Sean had a good run in the last few episodes but he blew it this week. First, he failed to realize how high a value Kathy placed on honesty. Kathy’s no fool; she can see that Paschal-Neleh and Sean-Vecepia are alliances. But Paschal and Neleh were willing to admit it openly and Sean (and Vecepia) tried to play a game that Kathy would be an equal partner in their threesome. Kathy saw through this rather obvious lie and voted against the liar.
Sean also screwed up with his last minute tirade. Instead of sticking to the point of why Kathy should vote with him, he turned it into an attack. It reminded everyone of what a jerk he could be; not a good move when the decision of who’s leaving is being made.
Kathy’s still looking good. I agree with the previous posts that said she had to make a tough decision; Paschal-Neleh were more likely to get votes in the final two and Sean-Vecepia were more likely to win the immunities she needed. Kathy had to assess her risks and pick one.
Kathy’s biggest hurdle now will be making sure Vecepia doesn’t win the next immunity and making sure she herself wins the last immunity. My guess is that the next immunity challenge will be the quiz on other contestants and the final one will be the endurance challenge. Kathy should do well in both.
As I’ve said before, if Kathy makes it to the final two, I think she has a good chance. The old alliance is all out now and Kathy had no aprticualr enemies in that group. Unless V makes it to the final, Sean’s vote is Kathy’s (he’s not going to vote for Paschal or Neleh). Depending on what happens next week, Vecepia will proabably also go for Kathy. Neleh or Paschal will obviously be a lost vote; either will vote for the other.
We’ll see how I do by this time tomorrow.
Re. Colby, let’s not forget the whole goodwill issue, i.e. having the money’s no good if you look like a jerk. Maybe misplaced chivalry, but chivalry nonetheless. And anyone who seriously takes Greg Buis’ word on that number nonsense (it was just joshing on his part; he liked Richard better) is a sucker.
I mean, so many beefs about how the competitors are cruel and backstabbing and dishonest, I thought it was kinda refreshing that somone wanted to be decent for a change…
Sigh…well, I got a pick, but you’ll have to go to the new thread to see it.
Does anyone know why Jeff pointed out that the jury was all wearing black? Was that right after 9/11?
No, but I expected Sean to say it was probably a racist remark.
