Survivor Season 35: Heroes, Healers and Hustlers

Yes, 11 players left, and possibly that is the reason.

4 Original Healers: Desi, Joe, Dr Mike, Cole
4 Original Heroes: Ben, Ashley, J.P., Chrissy
3 Original Hustlers: Lauren, Ryan, Devan

7 guys, 4 gals.

Checking Wikipedia, looks like it was season 30, Worlds Apart (white/blue/no collar).

The entire chain of events stretching from “the person who didn’t partake in the challenge gets to choose who eats in what order” to digging on the beach for an Idol that was already gone was absolutely amazing. Big props especially to Ryan for actually chucking the dish.

Disappointed at the outcome of the vote but that’s Survivor for ya.

Hated to see Desi go, but she left in style.

I’m not sure why they didn’t vote Joe on the 2nd round, but I assume they were afraid he had an idol. Ben, I think, gambled incorrectly on the 1st round. Why risk splitting the vote evenly if there’s a good chance the other guys our going to outvote the split and force you out. Better to load the vote against Joe and figure he doesn’t have an idol or won’t play it. Now he’s got a few more days to find one. It also gives a few more days for Ben’s alliance to fall apart before they vote off Joe. He’s got to know he’s a target for a blindside.

Joe has got to go!!

How did none of them say anything about the number of votes?? Jeff announced the totals over and over: 4 each for two people, 1 each for two people. That’s ten. So why did everyone simply sit there when Jeff announced it was a tie, when there should have been another vote to read?? I mean, even if it had been for one of the people who got a single vote, or someone else entirely, in all the seasons of Survivor the only votes they have not read were after someone had gotten sufficient votes that no one could overtake him.

And nobody said What?

Chrissy with her impromptu math skills should have put 2 and 2 together to realize that only 10 votes were read.

IMO Lauren made mistake by exercising her secret advantage. That advantage is only an advantage as long as it is a secret. At worst, Ben (and whoever else who knows in her alliance) is going to want her to use it very soon before they have get to final 7.

Ryan and Chrissy should have known that Joe doesn’t have another idol since he found the camp idol when he came back from Reward Challenge.

Back in Episode I, Ryan gave a HII to Chrissy that useless after the first Tribal. It would have been great TV if Chrissy could have planted that expired HII in the sand for Cole to find.

AFAIK, he couldn’t play a HII after the second vote, even if he had one. He has to play it after the first round of votes, and before they are revealed.

Yeah, that was interesting. Maybe they’ll discuss it on the return from Tribal next week. They did show Joe counting on his fingers during the revote, so he may have figured out something weird happened.
I also noticed that Lauren couldn’t vote in the revote either - she just tossed the ballot off the table and pretended to put something in the urn. Presumably the producers told her what to do in case of a tie & revote.
And yes, it was a huge mistake for Lauren to tell Ben about the advantage. All she did was put a target on her own back with her own alliance - it’s extremely dangerous to let her get to final 4 or 5 with that extra vote. Far better for everyone to think “What happened to that missing vote?” with no indication that there’s now an extra vote floating around.

Was that really Ryan’s heart beating during the Immunity Challenge? or was just a regular muscle twitching?

It could have been either. Ryan’s so skinny that you could read by the sunlight that shines through him instead of being blocked.

I think it was his heart. I had to look away.

On the other hand, it makes more sense to play it early when 1) your vote matters less and 2) there are more votes in general, so less likely people know its you. Though of course she kinda ruins the second part by telling Ben.

Tough call. She and Ben are very tight. I’m not seeing it as a complete bad move. What would be worse, her telling him upfront or her not telling him and him finding out later?

The advantage said she had to exercise it at the next Tribal Council. It didn’t say (or Lauren didn’t read that part out loud) how many TCs she can keep the extra vote for, but in past games something like that has had to have been used at the final number + 2 Tribal.

And there were some definite producer shenanigans with that advantage scroll. Last week, they showed the scroll in the bundle of nails sitting on the ground. Last night, the nails were in a basket hanging in a tree. I utterly refuse to believe someone picked up the whole bundle & put it into the basket without noticing the scroll.

I think Joe is now The Guy Everyone Wants To Go To The End With Because They Think They Can Beat Him ™. That’s the only reason I can think of that they didn’t throw all their votes to him on the re-vote.

Then again, Desi’s smart and likeable and hasn’t pissed anybody off. Those are legitimate reasons for not keeping somebody around. And she didn’t seem to have much of a strategy (or the editors didn’t let us see it) besides hoping really hard not to get voted off. She knew she was potentially on the chopping block, and didn’t seem to do much to try and prevent it.

My household was very surprised, too, that none of them mentioned the number of votes. I was disappointed in the outcome, I liked Desi and thought she could’ve gone far. Has anyone else noticed that whenever a tribe really wants someone out, that person seems to win immunity? I’m thinking about Cole and it was obvious to me before the challenge began that he was going to win. I think it’s editing or I’m crazy.

I don’t have any way to replay it, but I was thinking muscle twitch too. Isn’t your heart pretty well hidden behind your ribcage?

I didn’t think it was in the right place for a heart. My former nurse wife says it was. Still hard to look at.

But NOT hard to look at was Desi! Ooh la la. Sorry to see her go. :frowning:

I hate to say it but the show is starting to feel a little forced. I mean, come on, how did no one see the secret advantage in the nails? Even when they were looking for it!? The whole thing seems staged. Too many ‘mactors’.
Where is Russel and Parvati when you need them? I had such high hopes for this season.

You are not going to see someones heart beating through their rib cage. What we saw was superficial pectoralis (chest) muscle spasms, coincidentally where the heart is located.

That, or he has crepe paper ribs.
mmm

Have you SEEN Ryan?

I thought Lauren found her advantage in the nail bundle. Or did I nod off during that segment?
