Yes, often true, but what I meant was that Jesse (or the editors) have done a good job of articulating this. It makes him seem less heartless.
Though that reminds me of a recent trend I am not enjoying: every single person has a sob story. Editors need to give us a rest on the ‘overcoming personal tragedy’ arc.
At this point the remaining players have to realize that after that tribal council Jesse is the contender to win it.
They have to see that after that move!
And the big shout out as the biggest idiot of the history of survivor goes to Cody, down to 6 and he decides to give back his idol to Jesse.
For what reason? Why on earth would you give your idol to another player to cement trust? Trust for what? What this point in the game you play to get rid of the stronger players and Jesse is one.
How could he not see it?
PS - I just read Cody’s interview and Jesse dint ask Cody to give his idol back, Cody did it voluntarily because Jesse told him that Karla might have a knowledge is power advantage… Jesse overplayed Cody big time… great move.
I agree, the last episode actually had a little zip to it…finally. I’ve been bored with the show otherwise. I FF through a lot of the talking and mainly watch the challenges and the tribal council.
I guess if you’re there to win a million dollars, you do what you have to do. Why help someone else win?
So Jessie still has his idol, which NO ONE knows about. And what’s interesting, is not only does that guarantee him a spot at 4, but he could also determine who goes at 5 by taking all the votes and then voting out who he wants. I think the best move is to take out Cassidy or Gabler. While Karla is probably the biggest threat at final, Cassidy is probably the best at challenges remaining, and Gabler is the best at making fire. If Jesse loses the challenge at 4, he’s going to have to make fire.
Did I miss the part where Cody gave his idol back to Jesse? I was thinking how stupid Cody was not to play it, then remarked that since two idols were played and one walked out, there are none left for the final five. Guess I wasn’t paying attention.
Though I also thought playing his idol for Owen could have backfired on Jesse big-time. If Cody had played his, none of the votes would have counted, and if I’m not mistaken there would be a re-vote with only Jesse and Gabler in play. If Jesse was holding Cody’s idol, it would eliminate that risk.
They haven’t shown us yet, but I assume they will during the post-tribal intro next episode. The survivor reddit was talking about this all week, effusive in their praise of Jesse’s baller move:
But you don’t have to rely on outside sources. Jesse was talking during the episode about how he was hoping Cody would give the idol back to him to hold. Then we see at Tribal Jesse playing Cody’s idol. So then obviously Cody did give him back the idol to hold. I have not read a single outside source or interview but it seemed pretty clear to me the reason for doing so was because of the Knowledge is Power advantage.
I am wondering if Jesse gave a unintentional hint that he had another idol in his possession by playing Cody’s idol on owen, which he didn’t need to burn because owen only got 1 vote
The other players should realize that Jesse is not dumb, to leave himself vulnerable for the final five vote. Its not like Jesse is a Challenge Beast, as I don’t think he has even been close to winning a individual challenge. Could they be speculating that Jesse has another idol.
Then again, its not like the other 4 players could do anything about it.
Unless Jesse wins the Final Four Challenge, I can’t see any scenario where he doesn’t go into the Fire making challenge. Gabler seems like he would be the most adept at making fire, but IIRC, he struggled to make fire early in the season and Sami had to do it.
I think Karla made fire w/o much problem, but with her physical issues, she may struggle.
imo, This Jesse’s game to lose in the fire making challenge.
I thought the goal of playing the idol in this way was to spook Karla into playing hers. It worked. So Karla’s idol is flushed out and Cody is simply flushed, leaving Jesse holding the only idol left to play.
From what I understand, and I’m happy to be corrected, its down to the 29 day mark because of the COVID restrictions in the area they film. This gives them the quarrantine they need - 2 weeks for crew, 2 weeks for cast, then the show, then 2 weeks of quarrantine before going out, which reaches the limits of time allowed in the area by the government.
But I do fully agree that the shorter time period cuts out a LOT of the drama, mostly due to hunger and suffering issues.
I like it better with the aftershow on the island, you get everyone’s immediate real reactions instead of what they have planned to say in advance after watching the season. You do miss out on everyone who left pre-jury, but I guess that’s Covid related.
Well, I was happy with the Final three, all deserved it. I thought Jesse was a weasel, but boy CBS seems to love him.
Altho Gabler was my fave from the start, I was kinda shocked at the vote- I expected it to be the opposite- Cassie gets all but the one vote for Gabler.
I concur. It is also nice to see the nonjury get that little bit of extra $$ from that aftershow.
