So the ex-England manager has taken over at my club and I don’t know how to feel.
As an England manager Eriksson was abysmal and yet as a club manager he has done very well indeed.
City haven’t won anything in 31 years, apart from promotion, we have to live in the shadow of “That other Lot”
Time will tell whether or not our new manager can bring us the success we deserve, I can but hope, if I was religious I’d prolly pray
Sorry mate, but I think all right-thinking Englishmen must now be fervently hoping that Citeh go down
I have heard peope question Eriksson’s credentials as a club manager. He did have bona fide success with Swedish clubs, but on the big stage what has he done? Winning the three-horse race that is the Portuguese league isn’t that impressive, and his one Italian league win in about ten seasons was basically Lazio spending their way to success.
Have you forgotten the immense popularity Eriksson once enjoyed in England - and why…?
He’ll be good for City.
An an American, may I join in the conversation to ask what the hell you are talking about?
It’s about “soccer”, dear.
Wiki article on Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Coached the English side in the FIFA World Cup last year; under his leadership they exited at the quarter finals, losing to Portugal. Now taking up the coaching duties at Manchester City.
It’s a constant source of amazement that Americans have never heard of our English football teams.
After all, we’ve heard of your Washington Patriots, Chicago Redskins, New York Bills etc etc…so why don’t you take at least a bit of interest in our clubs
A bigger question you must ask about Man City is about the club’s finances. The new owner of the club is a former Thai Prime Minister who is being investigated for big-time corruption. There may even be an arrest warrant out for him. More details here :- Times Online
Other clubs are just jealous is all.
*Gawd please no, not another screw up
As a die-hard support of Brentford, I could hardly care less about the fortunes of Man City. Go Bees!
Brentford?
Ah well I suppose somebody had to support the lower division clubs
Ah, but just wait till they’re promoted… and promoted again… and promoted again…
As an American, I can ask in all seriousness:
Have they got Sven a nice looking secretary to sit in his lap?

Claudio Reyna was, I believe, captain at times for Citeh, and RunDMB spent last year there on loan from PSV Eindhoven, so Americans who follow international football should know something about the club.
It’s good preparation for the three-horse-race that is the EPL I’d have thought.
Good point. Shame he’s not riding one of the those horses.
So you planning on immortality then ?
Thus far you’re the only person to bring Camilla Parker- Bowels into it
I hope he does well but I just don’t think he is suited for the nitty gritty of the middle to bottom half of the Premiership.
Of course, I follow City just to see how Stephan Ireland and Richie Dunne are getting along. Hopefully Ireland will solidify his place in the centre of City’s midfield. Any thoughts on him Chowder?
