Comedy Central has reached an agreement with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to extend South Park’s run an additional three seasons. Since a 12th season had been previously committed to, this means South Park will have a run of at least 15 seasons, lasting into 2011.
The deal also makes Parker and Stone equal partners with Comedy Central, giving them a 50% split of all revenues generated from the show, and establishes a digital studio to spread “South Park”-related material across the Net, mobile platforms, and video games.
South Park is currently in the middle of its 11th season. New episodes start on October 3.
I would think this might be a bad idea but they’ve really maintained if not improved the quality of this show over the years, especially contrasted with that other big cartoon show.
