It’s weird. When Futurama was cancelled I was really sad. But then as time passed I began to grow used to and then like how the show ended, despite hating the fact that it ended. Then when I heard this I was concerned that they were going to ruin it and I would have chosen for it to stay like it was.
When Futurama was cancelled, I didn’t give a wet fart. Never saw the show, although I liked The Simpsons. But for most of the last decade, we didn’t have a TV set, so we just never saw it.
Then my wife brought home the first box set on impulse, and we watched it.
Then we got the complete collection.
I suspect now that we’re not alone. Futurama found its audience, and it’s a lot bigger than Fox suspected.
So, yeah, we’re really happy if they go through with this. They could write episodes without having to have a fade-out line every ten minutes. They could do an anthology series with stories of different lengths. Even a musical.
And now, Groenin leaves the comforting Purgatory of Abusive Television Executives, to Fry (ha-ha) in the Hell of, well, Hellywood Executives, all of whom will try to control/destroy Futurama by providing their “creative” input.
