Take a look: a cool site MMP

Howdy. My daily site include XKCD, QC, Icanhascheezburger, Radio Margaritaville and of course NHL.com Speaking of which, the Canes won, and i had a wonderful tailgate eating brats and drinking Yuengling.

BBBobbio, I have two fuzzy shadows. I’m not worried about swine flu, because it would mean I might miss work and that will never happen.

Lili, I third the Driving Husband beating and Mancard shredding.

Drae, at least you have you priories straight.

Congrats, Soapy!

I meant to address Driving Husband and Quasi-Daughter. Seriously, the Man Card must be rescinded. That’s just my humble opinion though.

Chop-chop is cooking. Boneless, skinless chicken boobies seasoned and basted with a mixture of honey mustard and mayo, and then coated with seasoned cornflake crumbs.

My daughter is making pierogies to go with them. I wouldn’t have chosen that combo, but she loves pierogies and she’s cooking them, so I’ll go with that.

Yup. Sounds like both DH and QD need a bit of a wake-up call.

The flu epidemic is scary for me only because I’ve got lots and lots of family in Mexico and I’m up here and can’t do anything. :frowning: It sounds like they’re doing a lot of the right things to keep things from spreading, but it’s so hard to tell without actually being there. My mom says all schools are closed now (before it was just the ones in Mexico City). And they’re making sure that the entrances to her apartment building are disinfected and that condo employees have masks to wear on their way to and from work. So, hopefully things will stop spreading soon.

I don’t look at too many sites regularly - no time! - but periodically stop by a lot of the ones people have already mentioned. Also visit GoodReads and LJ and Skip’s place pretty much every day. Other fun sites I know: TED (did I get that from someone here?), 30-second bunny theatre, For serious stuff, I go to the New York Times, NPR, a couple of German web sites and occasionally Mexican newspaper sites. (I’m too lazy to link right now…let me know if you’re interested in links to any of these.)

Welll…it’s way past my bed time and I really need to fall asleep.

I’ll catch up on whatever I missed in the morning, I hope…

GT

**Lili **-- that is one F-ed up (former? I’m not so sure…) relationship!
I’m going to go against the general consensus, and argue that it’s **QD **who needs to get the trout treatment for putting up with DH’s behavior.
**DH **on the other hand – a trout is too good for him. *He *needs to be concked full-body with a full grown tuna

In other news, the Israeli deputy Health Minister, who is Ultra-Orthodox, has suggested – in all seriousness – that it is wrong to call the latest flu “Swine Flu.” You shouldn’t mention pigs!! He suggests calling it “Mexican Flu” instead.
TAER   :smack:

Also – Memorial Day here. There is no other culture that I know of that has produced *so *many popular songs devoted to remembering the fallen as Israeli culture – so much so that it qualifies as a musical genre in its own right. And all the radio stations play Memorial Day Songs all day (starting yesterday evening.)
Driving to work is an exercise in not listening to the radio too closely – driving with tears in your eyes is dangerous…
And… Independence Day is tomorrow. This is by design, and a very good one, I think. It means that we all have to pause, a few hours before the fireworks, and remember “What price freedom?”

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s Tuesday whether I want it to be or not.

Special1 Happy Israeli Independence Day! If I were coherent enough to code I would have done it in blue.

Taters I bet Taterson was wiped out when he got home last night.

Ok, in desparate need of more caffiene and some brekkies before work purtification commences.

Y’all have a good day!

Up and theoretically ready for another day. ugh.

I knitted for about half an hour last night, then scooped the cat boxes and went to watch TV in bed till I zonked out. I made maybe another half hour before unconsciousness set in. I kept waking up thru the night, but never for long, and I didn’t look at the clock, so there’s that.

**FCD **is off to work. I made my lunch while I packed his - one less thing to mess with later. Caffeination is in progress, but I need to find some breakfast, clean the cat boxes, pack my stuff for class, shower, and dress before leaving. I must say, the delayed commute is super-easy, not that my drive is ever much of a challenge, but I hate not getting out till 5. Glad this is just for a week.

Tonight, I’ll be turning in my report and underglazing my pig. The class is doing raku firing, but I didn’t make anything specifically for this, so I may just split early. Our notebooks are due on Thurs - guess I should kinda like do it. We were supposed to sketch out all of our proposed projects, then keep notes on the clay, glaze, firing, etc. Yeah. Right. I’ll make some retroactive notes. But I don’t pre-design my work - it just kinda happens.

**FCD **went to the boat yesterday and yonked all the masking tape off. Good thing he did - apparently it started to bake on to some of the surfaces. What was surprising, tho, is that the paint wasn’t entirely dry in some places. All that heat and there were still soft spots!! weird.

Thus starteth my day. I doubt that I’ll post any more till tomorrow. So behave, keep your shoes off the furniture, use a coaster, don’t tease the cat, and get to bed at a reasonable hour.

MWAH!!

It has been raining all night, and my side of town is flooding. There were tornado reports, too. The thunder kept waking me up all night. I finally got up at 4:30.

My street is flooded! I’ve lived here almost twenty years and never seen my street flood. It’s up over the sidewalk and inching up my yard! I guess I won’t be going in to work for a while. The TV talked about my route to work being flooded, too.

And as if that’s not bad enough - there is a leak in the ceiling in the kitchen. Arggh. Mr Rebo is still asleep. I won’t wake him up just for that bit of news.

My neighbor’s “extra” car that’s always parked right across my driveway has water halfway up the tires. Maybe it will get flooded. That sounds snarky, I know, but it’s his daughter’s car, and she’s living out of the country. For two years now. They barely ever move the damn thing!

I hope y’all have a drier morning wherever you are!

That’s hysterical. Well, we pinned the 1918 epidemic on Spain by calling it the “Spanish Flu”. It was prolly a Swine Flu too.

Yup- these days are important around my house too as my dad fought, and had friends die, in the Independence War.

Am Yisrael Chai.

Blurf.

Andy must go. VWife thinks she has a home for him, and prospective dad comes to see him tonight. Won’t happen soon enough for me.

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Canes play tonight, I’ll be at the Cool Bar watching.

Is it too early to hate today? grr

I shouldn’t be on the board, so please accept appropriate reactions to anything already posted.

Blurf.

waves hello to Nooner I suppose deputy Health Ministers have to justify their existence somehow, right? All the good stuff usually goes to the regular Health Minister, after all, and that’s just not fair.

In other news, it’s wet and grey and rainy here today, but thankfully nowhere near as bad as Rebo. Hope y’all can stay dry (and that the neighbour’s spare car floats away to a more convenient spot, too).

OK, time to haul my ass to work for another lovely day of documentation. Urk.

Let’s all chip in and buy him a shirt.

Up and at work - my connection was giving me problems from home. Caffeinated at home, so am drinking some of that lemon-ginger stash tea today, iced. Tis very tasty iced, btw.

LiLi, it does sound like Quasi-Daughter and DrivingHusband have an effed up relationship, if there still is one. Be thankful that MrLissar is such a good person.

I am awaiting Haze’s return with bated breath … and I hope she brings pictures of Crete!

Oh, any time anyone we know has relationship problems, we look at each other and heave relieved sighs.

Whee. Dentist’s today. And I think Nat is taking apart and eating a stick right now. Running away…

We heard from our team leader who’s in Mexico this morning. He’s in Acapulco for a giant tourism trade show that is doing dismally. He said after the earthquake yesterday, the airport was inundated with people wanting to leave. Isn’t that Number 2 on the list of how to spread a highly contagious deadly disease?

Happy Independence Day, noonie! As for Dep. Health Minister, well, bless his little heart.

li-li, sounds like both of them need a good dose of grow-the-hell-up.

rebo, can’t neighbor across the street park the car where it’s not directly across from your driveway? I’d be calling a friend with an uninsured beater for a little oopsie.

Tupug

Morning, all. Got awakened this morning by a phone call – chunks of work have been ordered expedited. Which means I’m off to work hard until they’re done since it’s a client I actually like enough to try to get done expedited, not just, “Yeah, yeah, when I get to it.”

Anyway, have read all, comprehended none. Don’t work too hard, everybody. Ta for now!

KT just survived another round of layoffs today. This is becoming a regular event. Combined with the 5% pay cut in January and the impending cut of their 401k matching benefit, the reasons to keep working there are getting few and far between.

He may start a job search now even though he has a job. He wanted to wait another year or so for the economy to get better so he would be in a better position to find something locally, but it’s starting to feel like he doesn’t have a choice. There comes a time when you have to leave a sinking ship.

My day’s been blah too. We have deadlines end-of-day every Tuesday, but yesterday we couldn’t get started 'cause one process was screwed up. So I did work at home last night after dinner and found out late in the evening that a second process was hosed. So we got in this morning a full day behind and unable to get started trying to catch up. Grrrrrrrr. This is due to other groups not monitoring their processes, not due to a problem in our group. And the second process affects lots of other stuff, not just what I need to do. Do you think maybe the other group should be watching the second process so they catch when it screws up?? I am full of grrrrr over their lack of oversight.

Apparently not. It’s in front of his house. His wife keeps her car in the garage, and the other side of his garage is full of stuff. He parks in the driveway behind the stuff.

There was a note on it a while ago from someone who wanted to buy it. (Yes, I peeked! ;))

Oh, yes! Mr Rebo just looked across the street and neighbor is pulling the mats out of it!!! Yay! He walked across the street, and saw that it had water standing up to the doorframe. ::evil cackle::

I actually like the guy. He’s a good neighbor. I’m just tired of the car.
The floodwaters receded on my street, and I tried to go to work. All routes were flooded. There’s 12 feet of water underneath one freeway intersection!

We might be getting more rain this afternoon.

Oooh, links, here’s one of my favorites. It has lots of unique furnishings and stuff. I had a moment of panic where I thought I had lost the link and couldn’t remember the name, thank goodness I haven’t cleared out my history for a while.
