I think my neighbor used too much charcoal fluid because it smelled more worrisome than nummy - I kept expecting to hear sirens
Hehe, sorry about that, Bbbbobbio! I don’t think to check for PMs, but I’ve answered yours now.
I am actually looking forward to whatever rain we might get in here tomorrow. Yes, I know - Rebo can send me -some- of their excess even. The pollen has felled me, it’s just choking me!! I hope things start drying up there soon, btw, Rebo. I fell asleep earlier tonight and didn’t wake up until nearly 10 PM!
Canes exorcise Devils!!!:D:D:D:D
Congrats, KT!
hope the flooding ends soon, Rebo.
…and in the spirit of the OP, I bring you the awesomest link I’ve found all day.
Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves for The Slap Chop Electric Boogaloo Remix (warning: link contains video, sound and deep booty bass beats)
I can’t begin to describe the pure awesomeness. You’ll just have to see for yourselves.
That would still be passive-agressive behaviour. It’s a pity DH probably doesn’t play in EU servers, I could find a few people to beat him up…
taxi, you ever heard that line about it being easier to find a job when you have one? I find that, while having a job cuts down on time usable to look for one, I’m more focused on the searching task, better at CV-writing, etc when I don’t have time to dawdle.
Q for the Israeli deputy Health Minister: if an Orthodox Jew catches swine flu, does he need purification as well as medication? Can he take his meds before being re-koshered? If he dies from that flu, can he be buried normally? Man, being ultra-orthodox of any religion is SOOOOOOO tiresome!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’! It’s Hump Day!!!
Muppet ain’t much better than a grilled burger. YUM! One of the big advantages to livin’ here in the swamps is the fact that I can and do grill out pretty much all year long. Matter of fact, I usually do two to three times a week.
I want some of Rebo’s rain too. We have had a bunch lately but we need some on a weekly basis. Things are kinda dry right now.
Ok, need some more caffiene and some brekkies prior to work purtification.
Later Y’all!
Hey y’all, I’m back! :: blearily :: I’ve read through the posts but have nothing to contribute other than Driving Husband needs a good kick in the balls. I just got off the airplane this afternoon and in the middle of my 4pm class (it’s break time) - praise Jesus my 7pm was cancelled so I can go home and take a shower so I can feel marginally human again. Travelling is hard work!
The boyfriend won’t be home til 10pm and while I’ve missed him dreadfully these past few weeks I am also not quite sure I’ll be able to keep my eyes open til then.
It’s always interesting to resurface and read the news after a bout of being on the road. I only hear about this whole swine flu business yesterday morning on the airplane. I always manage to be traveling when something like this breaks out.
I have many pictures and stories but they’ll have to wait awhile - after I finish this class I intend to go home and sleep the sleep of the very sleepy.
**Muppet **- loved the video! rosie, I loved the one you linked to, also - especially My I.R.A.
**tarra **- I got a pollen tale for you. We were painting the boat deck on Sunday. When we first got there, we had to wipe/hose down everything because of the pollen. There was a skim of yellow on the creek surface. Anyway, after a few hours of painting, I took a break and went to use the bathroom and wash off. I wiped a wet rag over my arms and it came up yellow! 'splains why my nose was runny all day…
Yesterday was crazy busy. I actually had work to do as part of the exercise training, tho I could have gotten more done if the computer wasn’t slower than congealed crap… We did get out at 5, so yay! I met my kid for dinner, then headed to class. The big saucer that goes under my planter has a huge crack across it - primarily my fault, but I can seal it with epoxy, so there’s that. I glazed the planters that’ll sit on it, and I painted my “environmental statement” piece.
My teacher is nice, but kinda clueless. I told her my piece was “Save the Whales” - it’s a piggy bank with 2 whale tails protruding from the slot. The pig is pink with black eyes and black hooves (I even cloved 'em) and the whales are blue. Bright blue.
Anyway, Teach said she liked it, but it was obvious she didn’t get it. Criminy, she’s just a few years older than I am - she should remember Save the Whales!!!
We’re supposed to get some rain today - hope so. Mostly, I’m glad the temps are back where they’re supposed to be. I’ll be leaving the house open, tho I may have to close up tonight. We shall see.
I stripped the bed so the mattress can air out all day. **FCD **didn’t need lunch, but I’ll have to pack something for myself. And I need to leave about 8:10, since I cut it a bit close yesterday. I do like going in for a 9AM start - it’s a very pleasant drive. But I hate *hate ****HATE ***having to be there till 5. They should let me work 9-2. Right? Because I’m nice, dammit!!
Actually, I probably could work out a 9-2 schedule, but then my pay would shrink accordingly. Which would suck. Oh well…
It’s Wednesday. Three more days of this silly exercise thing. I’m thinking Friday will wrap up early anyway, so I may go in early just in case. If it doesn’t, at least I’ll earn some credit time. And I’m off Monday - I’ve got a dentist appt at 10:30, which means I could go to the office for 3 hours, then leave, or just take vacation time and not go in at all. Like there’s a choice.
Oh yeah - love the manshelves! But where were the cats? Everyone knows cats love to lounge on shelves!!!
Happy Wednesday, all! MWAH!!
“save the Whales”? snerk
That’s great!
Hi Haze!
Funny videos!
Up and donwanna-ing.
Welcome back, Haze!
Back tonight…
GT
up and only half caffeinated and now I’m drinking herbal tea (trying to cut back on the caffeine a bit …).
Gah, FCM, that pollen is awful this year! I heard on the news last night that the count for yesterday was 4400   And they’re saying it’s among the highest ever. It’s affecting everyone at those levels, to be honest
Yay for Haze’s safe return - and yes, looking forward to tales of the vacation and pics–welcome back.
The adobe reader was -broken- yesterday at work, but it appears to be fixed now. I used several apps that rely on the reader and the help desk was not forthcoming in explaining that there were problems with Adobe–they should have just told me that upfront! Thank Og it’s fixed at least. whew!
Blurf. I didn’t sleep well, between the dogs getting me up all night and my back itching to beat the band.
TVCTPMO tried 4 different actions within a 20 minute/10 mile stretch of my commute to get me this morning, and they failed. An accident, a road trash crew, some moron losing a load of lumber, and another moron doing 40 on a highway where 70 MPH is the minimum flow; I still got to Cubeville in a chipper mood today.
Maybe it’s because VWife has found a home for Andy, and he’s leaving tonight. He’s a stark reminder of why I like getting my keeper dogs nearly full grown.
Gotta go make my employer their profit for today.
That pollen sounds horrible, FCM! Ah-choo! I can’t wait to see pics of your class stuff - especially “Save the Whales.” That one sounds so cute!
Welcome back, Haze!
The rain and floodwaters have subsided. Lots of cars were submerged, but as far as I know, nobody drowned. It was pretty bad. I’m sooo glad I stayed home! Gave me time to make a meatloaf on a weekday. It was yummy!
So, back to the grindstone. Woo-hoo!
Blurf.
Why did I decide it would be a good idea to start taking the stairs at work? It’s six bloody floors up… which isn’t so bad when I’m peppy and full of coffee, but really really unpleasant first thing in the morning when I’m carrying all my crap and most of me is still asleep.
swampus, there are some people 'round these parts that make a valiant effort to grill year-round, but they’re a special kind of crazy. Trying to grill burgers in knee-deep snow requires a level of mind-over-matter that I just can’t muster (those same people break out the flip-flops as soon as the snow melts, and wear shorts whenever the sun is shining regardless of how cold it actually is). If there’s snow on the ground, I’ll rely on my trusty panini maker to cook up the burgers thankyouverymuch.
Congrats on relocating Andy so swiftly, Vundy. I’m sure he’ll miss his surly, grumpy, secretly soft-hearted pal.
waves to Haze Photos! We demand photos!
Mooooom, we also demand photos of the Save The Whales piggy bank once complete. Photos! LOTS of them!
Thanks everyone. We’re glad - mostly - that KT still has a job. In some ways it’d be good if he were forced to find something better 'cause I don’t think he’s going to look to hard while he’s got a job. But OTOH, two incomes are good.
I did manage to get out just after 6 yesterday, and it was still really nice so KT and I took a bike ride to a chain burger place for dinner to celebrate still having a job. Last round of layoffs, we went to a pretty nice grill-type place. This time, it’s become so routine that we just picked up fast food burgers. ![]()
I agree with FCM, that I should be allowed to work just part of the day. When I was in college, on days that I didn’t have class, I worked 10-4. I really liked that schedule. Could I do that again please?
Welcome back, Haze! Both ministers from my church and a bunch of the regional high-mucky-mucks all went to Korea recently to learn about the Methodist church there and one of them talked to us on Sunday about the trip. I kept thinking of you as they were talking about Korea.
I made chicken chorizo romesco on Monday (actually, I made the Romesco sauce on Sunday to save time), and it was really good. So were the potatoes and kale that are the side dish listed on that link. But with parmesan cheese instead of manchego 'cause it’s so much cheaper. The Romesco sauce is really good and would be great with just chicken (skip the chorizo if you don’t have extra that you need to use up) or fish or pork or whatever.
Hah, you silly people with your “allergies”! I’m immunocompromised and permanently on immunosurpressants, so I have exactly zero allergic reactions to anything - there’s no immune system to overreact to harmless stimulii.
At least that’s how my nephrologist explained it. I assume she’s right, I don’t do medical stuff. Too nasty and squishy.
Today is the most Don-Juanna-ish day ever. Grey and rainy and I did NOT get enough sleep.
I’m finally up, as I was too excited to sleep till 0300. Back to work today.
Intresting video, Muppet
Welcome back, Haze!
blurf!
Hiya, haze! When come back, bring pics.
My knee is killing me this morning. It’s odd like it got smacked cause the tissue hurts, not just the joint. Also, I slept like crap.
Department head has returned from Cali presentation. I don’t see a whole lot of improvement. Still angry, impatient and condescending. I heard through the gossip vine that the veep she yelled at last week went to HR.
We got an e-mail from The Management about the swine flu. It basically says don’t cough on anyone and wash your hands. The sheer genius of understatement astounds me.
Tupug
Time to go smack a snowflake.
OK, the serious answers to this would be boring
so I’ll snark away…
- Politicians cannot be made pure before or after swine flu. :smack:
- Re-Koshered? Ya think these guys are really kosher even before?
- Burial – dunno, but I’m willing to find out
Amen, sister
I’m stuffed!
We celebrated Independence Day, as we usually do, by heading North to relatives of ours who live “out in the country” (all of 15 miles from Haifa, but yeah, it’s rural. Like I say, it’s a small country!)
Much BBQ-ed everything (well, except swine – they keep kosher!:)) was consumed.
Traffic jams both ways were waited in. Luckily, not more than 30 additional minutes going there, and even less coming back, so not that terrible.
I am tired, too.
But it was a nice day
**Taxi **-- yay for continued employment for KT
**Ivory **-- do snowflakes stick to clue-by-fours?
Hi, Haze!!
