Tales of a Louse - Tall Tales in the MMP

Well, with the glasses you are looking alot like Anne Sullivan in that gown.

I say contacts are the way to go. You need to get them soon, so that you can get used to them (I dont’ wear 'em but I’ve heard tell).

I like the gown-it suits you. And you definetly need a low heel.
I am very tired and I just heard that my old manager (whom I adored) died on Saturday from a massive MI. He was 42. He has 2 boys and a baby girl. He left my hospital to do flight nursing–and great guy and an excellent nurse.

I am sick about this. I’m going to go lay down and try to sleep.

taxie honey, the dress is beautiful and fits you like a glove. How about some special catseye glasses with seed pearls all around them?

Thanks everybody!

I’ve worn contacts in the past… not in a few years now, but I don’t think it’d be that big a deal to get used to them again. I don’t want to wear them permanently though so I think I’d just (try to) get one box of the 2-weekers (I think that’s 3 pairs… if they still package them the same way as a couple years ago.) and wear them around that time.

I’ve heard you can’t wear glasses while snorkling. Not sure about contact, but I think they’re supposed to be ok. So I’d rather have them so I can see instead of being blind while under water.

I will probably wear my hair up - I do all the time anyway. It looks *extremely *messy if I let it down so up is the way to go. Not sure on style or if I’ll wear a veil or what.

FWIW, I wear my contacts under my goggles when I swim laps. If you’re snorkeling, that should be just about the same environment. I suspect that with full scuba, things might be different (depths and pressure)…

Hey guys! Hugs, high-fives and raspberries to anyone and everyone who deserves one or more of them.

I went out of town for the weekend. I drank…liquor! I don’t do that often, so it’s a big deal when I do. I think I behaved. Mostly.

Looks like we’ve got rain coming. We’ve had a mild winter so far, so I guess we’re due.

What a day! I wound up working an hour over, and I expect to do that most, if not all days, for the rest of the week. I’m project leader for a training exercise and all of a sudden, they’re believing me when I say I don’t know what the heck I’m doing. We’ve got a major deadline on Friday and we’ll be hard-pressed to meet it. The kicker is the time crunch really isn’t my fault. Our former Senior Engineer piddle-farted around before making assignments, so we started out behind the proverbial power curve. And on top of all of that, there are no written instructions for being a project lead. Apparently I can do anything I want - as long as I do the right thing, which I can’t identify since I don’t have any guidelines.

On the upside, FCD is taking me out to dinner tonight so I don’t have to cook. I was going to make potato soup, so no biggie, but still, we’re going out. So that’s good.

picunurse, I’ll add my hugs and wishes along with the rest.

I just have one question - is it Friday yet??

That web site is a hoot! Taxi, are you sure you wouldn’t rather do your hair in a Discount Super Jumbo

Just kiddin’ !! You look lovely! And yes, I’d do the contacts.

Okay, so I forgot to check in with the MMP this morning. Yesterday+today was exceedingly busy. During the latter 12 hours of yesterday, I watched 4 hours of extras on the I Heart Huckabees DVD, wrote 600+ words on same (newspaper review), went to a friend’s place for dinner, did my Abstract Algebra homework, studied for the E&M test and made a very thorough crib sheet for it, and read about different theories of the nature of time for my philosophy class. Then today I had my usual 6 hours of class, only the last two hours was that E&M test I mentioned.

Have I mentioned I hate tests? I’m confident I got the first two right, but I attempted something too ambitious on the last one and I couldn’t get the math to work out. Ugh. I hate it when tests do things like that to me, because I know I understand the material, but nibbling little math errors make me feel stupid. No, wait, it’s not even that. Just now I was discussing the test with a classmate, and I figured out exactly what I did wrong on that last problem. I should have known better. It’s things like this, where by all rights I know how something is done but do it wrong anyway, that really leave my cheese out in the wind.

Hey taxi, nice dress.

I’m tired. I have more homework to do tonight, another Abstract assignment that’s due tomorrow. The semester thus far has been unnervingly long periods of little to no work, punctuated by disturbingly short periods of alarming amounts of work. And now, I think food. FCM, I hear ya. Hoo boy do I hear ya.

 taxi that wedding dress is gorgeous!!

The Weird One you summed up how I feel exactly… but I’ve only been here a few days so I keep reminding myself that even if I’ll someday be cool, I can’t expect it to happen a week after I join. but I love it here! Even if you all get to know me and hate me, You’ll never get rid of me! muahaha!

picunurse I don’t know you, but I’ll be thinking of you today

picunurse, sending you many hugs and much love.

I’ve been sitting here, reading all your posts, thinking what a rockin’ group of people we are. I’ve also been repeating, over and over, Anaamika, because I didn’t want to spell it wrong. Awesome-est louse story I ever heard, BTW. I don’t think I’m gonna have 7 sandwiches anytime in the near future.

scout (OK, I call you scout because I always forget the numbers after “scout”), we had rain drops here about 2 or so, but not much happening right now. They are predicting 5 to 10 inches of rain starting tonight over on the coast. Yay, it’s winter!

All you sickies get better now, ya’hear!

Taxi, that dress looks terriffic on you. I’d say do the contacts. The last time I bought disposables they came 6 to a box, so if both your eyes are the same, that’s 3 pair. I wore them under my mask the last time I snorkled and it worked fine, except that my mask leaked and I had to dump the water out periodically.

Hi to all the noobies.

Finally getting in here. I’m so sorry picunurse. More hugs to help you get through the day.

Also sorry about your former boss, rigs. Hugs to you too.

Reading the MMP today has made me feel like I need to take extra vitamin C. Don’t wanna catch any of that stuff that’s going around, ya know. Hope everyone is feeling better.

Today was my day to get back on my every-four-week-haircut schedule (one of them got messed up back there and the easiest way to fix it was to schedule today’s at three weeks after the last one). Then I went to the grocery because I was out of some lunch stuff and wanted to be able to pack the rest of the week. I feel so accomplished (although, really, all I had to do for the haircut was show up…)

Love the dress, taxi. It’s perfect on you. I’d go with the contacts too. There’s something about that type of dress that doesn’t really go with glasses, isn’t there?

Funny OP, Mika. Made me giggle.

That work situation sounds like no fun, FCM. It is a bit more likely that your project will be successful if you know what the actual expectations are… You’d think people would know that by now.

Oh and hi The Weird One and SurrenderDorothy (and Kythereia, too, since you don’t stop by all that often). Don’t worry about how many pages in we are.

Well, I’ve eaten dinner and should probably get something else done. Or maybe I’ll crawl into bed early and read.

GT

I thought this said if you have a pair of eyes, as in two eyes (like the rest of us)–I need to go to bed.
Sleep tight everyone.

Well Smitty? How did the interview go?

I am stuck here at work. I should have left 45 minutes ago, but one of our AOs came to me requiring some information. This information is easily available to her on a spreadsheet. I put out these reports twice a day, they’re very easy to filter, and everything is there. But nooooooo, she doesn’t have “time” do run this info herself. She “knows” it’s not my job to do this for her, but would “really” appreciate me doing this. Before she came to me, she went to my boss, so it’s not like I could say “Too bad, so sad, you should actually make FRIGGIN USE of information I send out twice a day. You’re on your own”. But, nope, couldn’t do that. Had to be all professional like and smile and say I’d do it.

So, I do it. But, the product I sent her is not what she wanted. :dubious: Excuse me, but that’s what you said.

So, I ran up the data in a different way after converting some fields and have sent her two tables in the last 25 minutes. Tables she HAD to have TONIGHT for the chief of her department.

Well, she hasn’t read my e-mails, and she isn’t answering her phone. I’m becoming increasingly pissed because I have somewhere else to be and she’s holding me up.

Screw it, if she doesn’t answer voice mail or e-mail in the next five minutes I’m going home.

I’ve been sick, but I’m getting better. The addition of those little nose thingies has helped me immensely. I’m still pretty mad at my dad, who brought the Germs from Heck into the house, but not as mad as I could be, since he was even sicker than I. I need a haircut, too, but I’m waiting for some reason. I need a new dye job, too–my roots are growing down the sides of my head.

Is it wrong to want to throw a chiming clock through a window? We have two, and I seem to be the only one who notices the chiming. What with my parents and two chiming clocks, I really think I’m going to be completely crazy soon.

I did get to see a friend that I hadn’t seen since December. We had lunch and then we were going to trade favors–I do her taxes and she waxes my evil hairs. Unfortunately, some of her tax info was missing, so we decided to wait till next weekend.

I second that. Here’s my new desk motto: Property management’s a bitch–it’s got that monthly cycle.

Tomorrow’s the last day of the month, which means it will be even busier than today. Oh, well.

We went out to dinner tonight, and I managed to eat a big salad. Yay for not gorging on big-calorie restaurant food. (And just shh about salad’s hidden dangers. I did get them to go very light on the dressing.) No dessert! Diet coke!

The house has been tidied, the dishwasher emptied, and the recycling set to go out tomorrow morning. Must have been the diet Coke…

Since no one suggested a vegetable for me to try this week, before meeting for dinner, I popped into the grocery store for bread and such, and selected… a spaghetti squash. And that shall be This Week’s New Vegetable. (Must have been all the spaghetti sauce chat that set me off.)

Tel I think I’m scared. Evil Hairs?

Spats if you must have cheese in the wind, please go downwind. :stuck_out_tongue:
