I was tested in kindergarten, and got a 188.88. That said, I don’t think that IQ is a significant number–I am smart, but all my IQ score tells me is that I test well.

You do NOT have to pass the Mensa test to become a member. You may submit the results of many other tests (including even SAT scores) to qualify.
For what it is worth, I never found out my IQ score, although I was given a fairly lengthy test in elementary school. At one point the lady giving the test paused and said “We are doing college level questions now”. Even in high school the administration would not tell me, although when I asked “Well, is it over 140?” I got a yes.
My SAT scores were high enough to qualify for Mensa (1 in 50 on any one of several tests, meaning MORE than 1 in 50 would qualify) and triple-9 (1 in 1000).
You DO have to submit “official” IQ scores or take a separate test to qualify for Mega (1 in 1,000,000, and in case you are wondering I haven’t tried).
Does I.Q increase with age?
I got a 134 when I was nine.
What’s the requirement on SAT scores for Mensa?

I took a test when I was about 25 that came in at 168, but I understand the error bars at the upper end of the scale are pretty large.
A couple of years ago I took a professionally administered WAIS-R, but was given scores only in terms of standard deviations from the norm, which were all around +2 and +3. I have no idea what that translates to in terms of IQ, other than being in the top 2.5% or top 1.3% respectively. And I have no idea what the error limits are at the tail ends of the curve.
135 when I was in 11th grade (17 years ago). I was harassed by an idiot who got a 140 something. I’ve never had much use for the tests since.
Funny, they say that 100 is average for IQ tests, and anything above that is above average…I think they’re pulling our leg. Nobody I have spoked to (even particularly, um, unintelligent people…) has gotten even close to 100. I think it’s just a trick to build peoples’ self-esteem.
Eh. Whatever works!
Anyway, my IQ supposedly (at least according to iqtest.com, which is supposed to be within 5 points) is 181. =D
Oop, spoked = spoken. I don’t know how I typed that one. X.X
Oops, spoked = spoken. I don’t know how I typed that one. X.X “a-hyuck! i got here me a big iq! that means ahm smahrt.”
Gah!
I typed it up, pressed STOP before the page loaded, fixed and added a few things, then resent it. X.X
I am really demonstrating my high intelligence here. Ugh. Anyway…
Seriously, I took the test in elementary school, but weirdly enough, no one ever told me what it was. It’s not that I particularly cared–I didn’t really know it existed. Truthfully, I’m half afraid to know; the perfectionist in me will be disappointed, because it will doubtlessly not be the highest (or at least, high enough for my taste). Resisting the urge…not…to be…competitive…
FWIW, I know I qualified for gifted (“most able” as they called it) at my elementary school, and was placed in their “Challenge” program. Minimum IQ at the time for that was 140. So, I’m somewhere at 140+.
Curious, we’re an intelligent lot; many of us were in the advanced track and had the resulting expectations. Do you find others expect much of you career wise? When I chose to be a teacher, several well-meaning (perhaps) people were flabberghasted. Wasting my intellect and talent, they said. I should be a doctor, or a lawyer, or someone “high up.” When I decided to go into teaching, it was assumed I would go on into administration (and I’m young; it’s not implausible), get a masters, then get a doctorate, so as to live my potential. Thing is, I love teaching. Why should all the “smart” people be OUT of the classroom?
What have your experiences been?
“Me fail English? That’s unpossible!”
“English? Who needs that? I’m never going to England.”
I honestly have no idea. I was in the TAG (Talented and Gifted) program in school, so I expect I hit at least the minimum for that, but I can’t say as I remember what the minimum score for that was. Can I substitute other test scores?
Okay, I just took that test at iqtest.com and got 150.
My Idiotic Question?
Hmmm…“What’s your sign?”
Last time I took it, I got a 121…
reading all the posts on this thread
…which means I have the lowest IQ out of everyone.
I’m going to take it again, and see if it’s gone up.
Slightly above average,
Louie
Since the beginning of this thread, I’ve taken five (different) IQ tests, and gotten five different scores.
120
125
129
132
122
140
Whatever. I still say I’m only pretending to be smart.
Veni, Vidi, Visa … I came, I saw, I bought.
See what I mean? I can’t even count. SIX tests, I took. SIX. Sheesh.
I just took the test, and wow wow wow, my IQ went up from 121 to 147, an increase of 26 points!
Just took the test at iqtest.com (thanks, Kat) and got 149.
Infomercial announcer: So tell us, Chris, how did you feel after seeing your results at IQTest.com?
Chris: It really works!! All those other IQ testing sites are obviously fake – they told me my IQ was anywhere between 121 (false chuckle) and 140.
Infoguy: Not IQTest.com, though, right Chris?
Chris: Right, Bill. Clearly, IQTest has gotten it right. I’m so pleased with my real score, I plan to go back right away before I forget the questions. Maybe I can raise it to 155 … or MORE!
Infoguy (turning to studio audience): That’s right folks. You too can test higher than you’ve ever tested. Just go to IQTest.com. Remember – the other IQ testing sites were made for dummies.
Veni, Vidi, Visa … I came, I saw, I bought.
(Like everyone else who posted to this thread, I’m lying.)
The last IQ test I took was in gradeschool but I don’t know how I scored. I do remember that I did horribly on the gradeschool aptitude tests however. They put me in remedial courses for math and english for quite a few years. In junior high we were given another aptitude test and I did so poorly on it that I got sent off for special sessions with the guidance councilor to basically tell me “just because you’re an idiot and are destined to be a failure in life does not mean you’re a bad person!” but dressed up in nicer, touchy-feely language.
signed,
bantmof the idiot (but not a bad person!)
