As far as the other posters, I really wouldn’t doubt their high IQs. The majority of them really are enviably intelligent.

I have taken two IQ tests online since I saw this thread appear. I remember taking one in elementary school and scoring 142. I wanted to see if anything has changed.
It hasn’t, even though sometimes I think all I really learned in college was how to take tests.
For the record I got 140 & 146 on the online tests.

I scored a 145 many years ago. I have been kicked in the head many times since then so I am probably down to about the IQ of Odie by now.
Odie is the dog from Garfield for those who don’t know. According to Garfield the difference between Odie and an eggplant is about 2 IQ points.
This post clearly demonstrates my theory that being kicked in the head many times lowers your IQ.
What more could you expect from somebody who lets people kick him to the head?
7.5", erect. Well, it’s the same thing, right?
I wouldn’t be too proud of qualifying for Mensa, BTW (which I do). Some of their special-interest groups are on topics that the TM should instantly recognize as fuzzy-headed and silly. And they tend not to bathe a lot (read their “dress code” sometime for a giggle).
OK, I just took that test at iqtest.com (yes, I’m seriously procrastinating this morning) and it came back with a 161 (72 Celsius?). Now I’m somewhat suspicious of others’ scores mentioned above because I KNOW I’m not that smart!
Also, notice that this site gives definitions (130 = Entry level “genius” score) for numbers above 100 but not below? So no-one scores below 100? And 100 is supposed to be average? HMMMMMmmmmm…
Makes me think of Garrison Keillor (sp?):
“Where all the children are above average.”
Somehow, I just KNEW this was gonna be a popular thread
Nothing as good as talking about your own intelligence, right ?
I sincerely apologize for the spelling of “discreet” (I wrote “discrete” in the OP), but joe noo I em frum De Nezzerlents ant mai Inkliezj izzund kwaait zet koot
Anyway, I too took the test at IQTEST.COM and scored a 147, significantly higher than my ‘official’ 130. I’ll stick to the 130 though, that test was much more versatile and demanding. Although I should add I probably failed all the “pennies/nickles” and “ounces/pounds” questions on the IQTEST.COM test, being metric and all
A question arises though: my 130 clearly puts me in the amoebe (sp?) bracket in this particular group. However, on the original Dutch IQ test, using the Dutch sample group, I was in the top 2%. So what’s the deal ? I know IQ results describe a so called Bell Curve (normal distribution). So, since ANY country will have a mean of 100, are the ‘outliers’ and thus standard deviations in the US higher than in Holland/Western Europe ? That is, are stupid people more stupid in the US and are smart people more smart in the US ? It’s either that, or I’m REALLY conversing with the creme de la creme des Etats-Unis
Whatever the conclusing, I bet we’re all way above average in ANY book over here. And YES, IQ tests are inconclusive and sometimes biased.
HOWEVER: I do want to find out about the US vs. Europe thing. Why don’t y’all take this European IQ test from some Czech University:
http://cech.cesnet.cz/IQ/index.php
My score on this one was 159. Hmmmm. Pretty high, but it WAS the sort of testing I’ve been getting used to over the last few days.
Now, if my assumption is right and Europeans are ON AVERAGE ‘better developed’ that North Americans (I’m talking about the ENTIRE sample group here, not just us, we’re obviously in the clear on both sides of the pool), you Yankies should get lower IQ scores on this one than on American IQ tests.
Perhaps this only works if I ask a significantly big group, also containing really DUMB Americans
But we’ll see. One thing that this test has that’s a pro: there’s no cultural bias in the questions. So no pennies vs. cents or francs, no metric shit, etc.
Amaze me, my friends.
(No, if y’all STILL score those amazing IQ’s, I’ll be glad my Scientific Carreer ended with me obtaining my title and moving on to banking
)

146…last time I bothered to check…but I’m feeling real stupid right now…(sigh)…I agreee with most on here that your intelligence varies from time to time.
I know that there have been times in my life when I wasn’t using my brain very hard were I actually felt dumber…does that make sense?
The last time I tested, about 4 years ago with a self-administered test, my IQ was 143. That’s fairly consistent with other results.
Kat – the TAG program you were in, was it part of the Elmont (elementary) or Sewanhaka (high school) school district by any chance? Most of them had better acronyms, but ours was just TAG.
Somebody here was curious as to why they were never told the results of their IQ test in grade school. The answer: you aren’t supposed to be told. One of my teachers dropped the ball on that one, as she called my parents in to discuss my brain and had me in attendance when she did.

My last “official” IQ test was in kindergarten, and I scored high enough to be ‘off the scale’ of definite numbers. The score they wrote in my file was something like “150+”.
BTW, I believe the minimum SAT score for Mensa admission is 1300. They’ll only accept older scores, from before the grading system was changed (4 or 5 years ago).
Of course I don’t fit in; I’m part of a better puzzle.
148 at iqtest.com. =) not bad for a dumb jock. 8^p

I took the test at iqtest.com and got a 147. Hmmm … could it be that getting kicked to the face makes you smarter over time? (see previous post).
Note to PLD:
There’s a distinction, I think, between qualifying for Mensa and actually joining.
One means you’re generally accepted as smart (GAAS?), the other perhaps that you need to get out more?
Hee hee – I’ll go with those definitions, wireless. They’re as good as any others.
I used to have a very high IQ but then I saw a picture of MaryAnnQ & not Im a drooling, blubbering idiot.
Ok Coldfire, I took the Czech IQ test. They coould use a little work on the HTML coding, but at least you can’t say it is biased towards the literate. I found the last section very difficult since the instructions are written in CZECH.
The scoring table at the end also completely ignores question #30; it doesn’t say wether you got it right or wrong.
However, I got a score right in line with the other two I posted here today - 138.

I was tested twice in High School with 154 and College at 156 so I guess that would be 155
I got 33 on my ACT
I scored in the 98th percentile on Miller’s Analogies.
