Terell Owens shoots himself in the foot yet again

Exactly. I think Green’s the kind of guy who would take the chance, but WR is probably the only thing they* don’t * need.

The Saints doesn’t make any sense. Stallworth and Henderson are young and are playing fairly well despite sub par QB play. Horn, despite being mouthy, is a class act and shouldn’t be forced to put up with T.O’s shit. Whatever TO would cost us would be much better spent on the defensive front or a QB that is smarter than my 3 year old nephew.

The more I think about it, the more I think he’s going to Minnesota. They have to replace Moss somehow, Culpepper is most likely leaving for Arizona and Denny Green, and they have a decent chance of winning the Matt Leinart Sweepstakes (or possibly the Brady Quinn Sweepstakes) and they’re gonna have some cap room.

I know this is a highjack but - so you think Billick will be sacked this year? Dunno why I don’t like him, but for some reason I don’t. Jimmy Johnson took a shot at him yesterday on the fox pregame and I was amused.

No way. Moss is the reason they *won’t * want him; more to the point, the owner was embarrassed by the Love Boat and will be cleaning house. You think he’s gonna bring in that PR disater waiting to happen? TO will go to some team that has

  1. a coach and/or GM that is feeling pressure
    and/or
  2. a team that thinks its one player away.

Nobody will sign him long-term, so it’s gotta be some team that’s willing to rent-a-star.

Khadaji – you probably don’t like him because he has a huuuuge ego. And yeah, he’s gone. Never delivered the promised offense, wrong on Boller, and his team is an out-of-control bunch of thugs.

He’ll get another job, though.

You know, now that I know that T.O.‘s Biz-Markie-lookin’ ass is going to be out of an Eagles uniform probably forever, but definitely for the rest of the season, I might actually enjoy this. Of course the team is toast for the rest of the season, but I still cheer for the Bills too, so it’s not like I’m not used to this by now.

Does anyone see any possibility that he is just done? That all the teams will say, “Great player, not worth it”? I mean, have the QB of any team considering TO call Garcia or McNabb and talk to them about the guy, and the QB is likely to refuse to allow TO on the team, right?

Am I just being naive?

No, and that possibility was brought up on Cold Pizza this morning. Atlanta was suggested, but no one seriously believes he’d be a good fit there. Some responsibility was also dished to Rosenhaus, saying the agent enabled TO’s behavior. That in most cases he was right there when all this was happening and could have reined his client in, but instead chose to encourage him. They also suggested that if TO is finished, his agent is as well.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

That’s why I labeled one of my catagories as teams desperate enough to take the chance. And the thing is, he’s got enough talent that somebody will take the chance. It likely won’t work out, as it likely won’t be someplace he wants to go, but if there aren’t any other offers he’ll wind up someplace he doesn’t really want to be. And possibly for less money than he wants to be there. The whole league has given up on bad guys before, but I don’t think any of them had the upside that Owens does talent-wise.

No way Buffalo will ever take him. The owner Ralph Wilson is the last of the grand old Gentleman owners and would never allow it.

Ain’t that the truth. I feel sorry for him.

I don’t think that McDonalds would put up with his prima donna assitude.

Any bets on which direction this afternoon’s “TO press conference” is going to go?

Straight to hell? Or is that too easy?

I just saw on CNN.com that a Desperate Housewives actor was fired for improper conduct. Maybe they can do a trade–that actor goes to play WR for the Eagles and Owens goes to Desperate Housewives. Anyone remember that Desperate Housewives-related opening bit from a MNF game last year that had Owens?

It seems he’s really sorry and wants to play in Philly again “ASAP”.

Does this change anything for his future?

not to mention Dallas fans might rise as one and slay him. He has persona non grata in Dallas (waaay more the Deon ever was) since he played with SF. Remember the “spike the football on the star” fiasco. Plus, the egos KJ and TO would not be able to fit in the stadium much less a locker room. I think Parcells has reached KJ and KJ responds to him, but I don’t think even the Tuna could handle KJ and TO.

For the same reason, the Raiders would be fools to try to field TO and Moss at the same time. You might as well pull the hand grenade yourself at that point.

It’s really hard to say. Owens may be a colossal ass, but he is an exceptionally talented colossal ass. The eagles can always say that they got what they wanted and put him back on the field, or they can tell him that his apology is too little too late and keep him at home. It’s a 50/50 shot either way.

What this will definitely do is make it easier for any team desperate enough to sign him. They can point to the apology and say "He really was sorry and he’s changed.

things will be different."

What I would like to see happen is whatever team that does sign him pays him at a substantially reduced rate due to his behavior. It will never happen, but I would like to see it.

Woo. Fun coding there. :smack:
