I like it and I think it sticks closely enough to canon.
i just wanted to add that the intercutting between Allison in the future and Cameron now *was not *sloppy writing. It was actually pretty amazing. I have a feeling that the previous epswas leading up to this and that the main focus of this season will be Cameron being infected with humanity.
Or it’s just wishful thinking, because I think that’d be a really cool concept to play around with, i.e. what makes a human… well, human.
So, Alison is being gestated now and is supposed to be a late-teenager at interrogation time… Have they established what time is the when-Cameron-came-from is? Is 18 or so years from now correct?
Though, I suppose you can argue that decades passed between ‘our’ Cameron being imprinted with Alison’s appearance and memories and Cameron being sent back in time.
Another missed opportunity for the writers. They could have had a fellow shopper approach Cameron and ask her the time or some other inane question. Then the Cameron HUD could display some response choices:
> Yes
> No
> Hello
> How do you like them apples?
As far as John and Sarah ditching Cameron for killing, I know if I were facing tough strong super robots from the future, I’d much rather have one of them on my side even if she was a bit glitchy.
Cameron had Alison’s memories because it interrogated her. Cameron needed to pass as Alison in order to infiltrate John’s compound and get close to John.
You’d think after all that’s happened when Sarah or John say’s “oh, nothing, gotta go” on the phone that means something is seriously wrong.
What’s up with CEO woman and Ellison? Is she on the exact same “terminate John” mission as all other Terminators or does she have a different agenda? Could there be any truth to what future infiltrator Cameron said about not all Terminators being in agreement? How is it she has a daughter? Robo-kid?
LA detective “baby daddy” is definitely going to be a problem.
It could be that she (Catherine Weaver) actually replaced an original human Weaver, who had a kid with the dead husband; or that she and dead husband simply adopted before his death.
Or, it might be another Terminator (maybe a “budded off” T-1000?) posing as a kid, for some reason.
In any case, it’d sure be an interesting turn if they had the kid be human, but Weaver not just using her as a “beard” or a disposable asset. Like, she actually grew attached to the kid, and decided to change the mission into building and controlling Skynet, technically averting the war through another, arguably more “humanitarian” method of cybernetic conquest. Hey, as the bard said, “two, admittedly regrettable, but nonetheless distinguishable postwar states.” Better to live in a “Blade Runner” or “Matrix” world than a scorched, lifeless wasteland.
My take on it: Catherine Weaver and her husband were on a helicopter that was sabotaged by the Shirleynator, who then took Weaver’s place in her life. The daughter is real, and probably sullen from being ignored by her robot mommy. This also accounts for the difference in the tales that she told about the cause of the crash.
I have no idea what her game is, or what her actual objectives are. It’s pretty clearly something more than simply “Kill John Connor.”
(and they bailed on the phone codes once they realized that Cromartie was listening in. Presumably they’ll come up with more sophisticated ones soon.)
I was thinking Shirlynator caused the helicopter crash and took mom’s persona, which would explain why the little daughter is so quiet. I can see it: “Mr. Ellison, that’s not my real mommy and I’m scared!”
But I figured it’s too obvious. TV show writers are usually smarter than I am and if I call it, my guess will be wrong.
I like Ranchoth’s idea that this T-whatever somehow took a liking to this cute little human kid and actually is seeking out the other Terminators in order to maybe protect her, and possibly not just kill John. She seems to feel no matter how good human pilots are, robots could prevent accidents that take the lives of little girls’ parents.
I think she’s trying to catch the CromartieBot because she wants to use him for something - probably to help build Skynet.
As for the phone codes, this is just one of those situations where people are looking for someone to bitch about. They quit using the failed compromised code? What crappy writing!
For all we know, the code right now is “Don’t mention the date at all”.
She’s after Cromartie, or other Terminators in general? Maybe just the older models with outdated programming. They’ve already mucked with time, because Cameron said Sarah died of cancer before the time they’re now in, so Skynet could be up to something else now.
Not my favorite show, and my butt doesn’t hurt at all. I just find idiotic criticisms to be irritating. “Why do they bother carrying pistols when they’re going up against things that aren’t hurt by them?” is a valid criticism, but “Why did they stop using a compromised code?” isn’t.
And OMG, they didn’t show them buying new phones!!! Cromartie should know John’s phone number!!! Theyre retards!!! The writing duxxorz!
As has been explained in this thread, “Why do they bother carrying pistols?” is not a valid criticism. (They slow them down and are easy to conceal.)
I think my offhand mention of the abrupt dropping of phone codes – which was a major plot point in the show – is a valid observation. And since you think the pistols criticism was valid, your judgement as to what is and is not a valid criticism is demonstrably off.
I dunno if it’s been addressed, but in addition to fending off terminators, Sarah’s bunch frequently runs afoul of human law-enforcement types. Also, having guns makes it easier to carjack vehicles in emergencies, rob stores for cash and supplies, etc.
