Weaver definitely knows him. He told her he thought he was being tested; ironically enough, she may be the one doing the testing.
How did Cromartie punch through Ellison v2.0?
He stabbed through him with a metal crowbar type thing, then punched into the hole and ripped out something important looking. Maybe a power supply.
“Hey, this could come in handy in a few years. Mind if I keep it?”
So much for the reserve power supply… but I guess Cromartie had plenty of time to remove Ellison Mk II’s chip before he rebooted.
You’re working with 1984 Terminator logic. In the original movie, Skynet destroyed everything before the Internet became widespread and before image databases were common.
A Skynet that becomes aware in 2011 has access to CIA personnel files including a full physical description of former Agent James Ellison.
Were there any other clues that Weaver became the detective for the witness questioning, apart from knowing about the ‘energy ball’?
You kinda sorta see the detective transform back into Weaver. You don’t actually see the process but he walks out of the building and camera changes the angle and it’s weaver walking out of the building.
Yeah, I personally thought it was going to be another Terminator. I kind of didn’t like it being Weaver - she can’t be EVERYWHERE.

Makes sense. But, a few eps back there was that kid at the military academy who was destined to go on to West Point and all military & stuff. Skynet should have had his 411, too.
Anyhoo, Ellison is helping Weaver nurture her AI, more or less, and future Skynet wanted him killed. Or tested. Hm. I’m sensing a time-loop paradox I don’t want to think about too hard.
I thought this was a slightly inconsistent episode. In particular, I’m totally baffled about the relationship between Derek, Jessie and Moishe. Anyone have any clue? Did I just miss something?
Also, how precisely did the Weaver-saving-Ellison-by-copying-the-cop thing work? What happened to the cop? Don’t you think Ellison is going to hear if that cop is found dead? Or that the cop will find out that someone submitted evidence in his name? And why did Weaver transform back in broad daylight?
I’ve generally been really liking this show (and still do), but that was all just sloppy.
I also thought Cromartie dispatched T-Ellison way to easily at the beginning… compare that to how hard the T-1000 worked to beat Arnie in T2, which still didn’t work. In fact, I was convinced that scene was a dream sequence or something.
That was definitely sloppy. Derek knew Moishe from his crew stealing diamonds to get money for their hideout and presumably Jessie knew him the same way (maybe this is SOP for Resistance soldiers to get money). But how Derek knew Jessie knew Moishe was never said.
You’re not thinking fourth dimensionally!
The Terminators in T2 and T3 were extra tough because they were being portrayed by Ah-nuld the movie star, not Ah-nuld the former Mr. Universe like in T1. The Terminators in the TV show bring their hardiness back to T1 levels, i.e. they can be killed by regular gunfire and other Terminators pretty easily.
Moishe said he bought the diamonds from somebody named Jessie, and Derek told Sarah that Jesse was a guy that came back with him, and was responsible for handling the diamonds, and he’s dead now. Then he went and told Jessie that Moishe was saying her name a little too openly, and she went and fixed that little security issue.
Today’s episode reminded me of Kill Bill.
Bonus: no Jews were harmed.
So…Robert Rodriguez’ Terminator!
Why the Hell haven’t we had Danny Trejo as a Terminator, yet?
I think we needed “Morte Di Un Soldato” playing during Cromartie’s death. (Though I still have yet to figure out why he was listening to Mexican radio.)
Aaaand…I guess personal catharsis outweighs the need to gather intelligence from captured CPUs, now. (Although maybe it was already too shot up to be useful…which of course begs the question of if it was ruined before the final coup de grace)
So was Cameron just trying to have a heart-to-heart, or was she thinking…y’know…“it don’t matter when it’s Arcturian, baby”?
So how did Derek & Cameron know to go to Mexico? John called, but all he did was hit a button on the keypad twice, which I guess is their new code to identify themselves. Are we assuming Cameron could trace the call, or that Caller ID works on mexican cop phones?
He was trying to cover any noise that Sarah made.
Not sure that they’d be able to make the equipment read it, or that the information would be useful anyway. I would assume that Cameron had whatever generic terminator data they might need. They probably thought it was too big a risk that it could potentially fall into the wrong hands and help Skynet.
I think she was implictly offering to have sex with him. She probably assumed John was trying to get some, and if she fulfilled that need instead then he wouldn’t need to bring in this potential security hazard. Consistent with terminator logic, although she was quite subtle about it in an un-terminator-like way.
I guess that means she’s “fully functional” - I wonder if Skynet would’ve included the parts. Then again, I vaguely recall last season we had a terminator who was married for years as part of his cover for some reason. I guess Skynet thought it might be necesary in deep infiltration missions for terminators to be deeply infiltrated.
It seems pretty inconsistent that a shotgun blast killed Cromartie. If that was the case, they could just lure him to a location and hit him in the face with a big game rifle from 500 yards away. Why was there even a need for that ambush of Cameron could’ve walked in and blasted half his face off?
Edit:
They showed Cameron overseeing the caller ID on Derek’s cell phone, and then calling it with her own. They answered in Spanish - they’ve might’ve been saying “____ Police Department”
Heh, heh.
I really enjoyed this episode. I liked the story-telling technique from mulitple perspectives – certainly been done before, but it is a nice change of pace anyway. And I liked the small touches, both plot and visual – like the photographer recognizing John, and the Day of the Dead atmosphere in the small Mexican town. Seems like the show is hitting its stride. Too bad the ratings are so poor.
So does Cromartie somehow rise from the “dead”? Or was his appearance in the previews not really part of the previews? I’m confused.
A shotgun, firing slugs, at short range, by a terminator, is a combo we haven’t seen used before. She needed to hit him several times in the exact same place in order to make a big enough dent to knock him out for a while.
The lesson I told my fellow Champions players after seeing the first Terminator movie back in the day: if you learn nothing else from this movie, robots can be knocked unconscious if you hit them hard enough.
They’ve shown John recovering data from a terminator chip before, though.
One question regarding this episode: Why did they abandon the convertible instead of just getting the hell outta Mexico after recovering Sarah from the trunk? That part didn’t seem to make much sense, in an otherwise pretty consistent episode…
I imagine they decided that it would be tricky driving the car through the border check when it was full of bullet holes.
On the other hand, they could have just jacked another car (again, tough to get through the border). I think it was just time to finish Cromartie off. If nothing else, they know he now knows everything about their new identities. Time to take care of that loose end.
