Terriers *sigh*

My wife and I just finished watching Terriers on Netflix last night and everyone who said it was a good show on this board was right. A few of the episodes were a little slow and meandering, but wow did it ever come together in the end. The characters all seemed real and the bad guys seemed like real bad guys, not some mustache-twirling villains. Hank was a flawed person but ultimately was someone who strove to do the right thing. Britt was a good guy who made mistakes. The second to last episode contained that huge gut punch (spoilers below).

As said before, it’s unfortunate that this show wasn’t able to find a second season. I have a couple thoughts on how that could have gone, which is also in the spoilers below.

The show was also full of clever, funny dialog. I thought the greatest bit was several episodes in and Britt is trying to figure out a name that they should call themselves. Something that grabs onto something and just won’t let go. Hank is rather indifferent to it and doesn’t try hard to figure it out and Britt can’t come up with it either.

So yeah, Terriers was good. That is all.
Spoiler #1: That Jason was killed in that liquor store.

Spoiler #2: For season 2, it’s easy to speculate that Britt would be released after a year in prison and would have to adjust to a new life and being a father and that Tom Cutshaw was likely being set up as the “bad guy.”
I’m still waiting for the DVD. I don’t know if it would be effective, but you can sign up at Amazon to be notified if it’s ever released.

Great show.

The creator has a new show this season, Last Resort, the submarine show. I plan to watch.

Awwww… a Terriers thread. Now you’ve made me sad.

Hoping Last Resort has some Terriers feel to it. Real intriguing!

I’ve been seeing the ads for Last Resort pop up on IMDB and I wasn’t sure about it. My interest is now piqued, I have to say.

Sorry to bring you down Fiddlesticks. If there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.

Terriers was the stuff. I still have the theme song as my ringtone (and generally speaking for my alarm when I wake up in the morning). I’d love to see a good DVD release, but I went ahead and bought it from iTunes–partly to show my ex, but mostly to be sure I’d always have it.

Awwww. Terriers.

You know, I’ve liked shows, and they’ve been cancelled, and I’ve thought “Too bad shrug” or “Stupid “2.5 Men” watching populace, don’t recognize quality, grrr” or whatever. But man, it just makes me sad this show didn’t get picked up, quite upset really. Donal Logue just OWNS every scene he’s in. He brought that character to life so well that he just plain deserved to get a few more seasons to do it.

About six months ago my husband and I watched the season all the way through, the first time he’d seen it. Afterwards he said “So is the second season out yet?” and awwww, I had to break his heart too.

Shawn Ryan was just recently talking about using Kickstarter to fund a Terriers movie, but then just as quickly threw cold water on the idea on Twitter saying that even if they got the money he wasn’t sure they could pull it off.

I’m still working through season one on Netflix. It’s good. Donal is good as he usually is. I think a good part of the reason the show never caught on was the name. Terriers doesn’t give a good idea at all what the show is about.

Laura Allen was in the TV series Awake this past season. The show where a cop lives in two worlds, one with his wife (Allen) alive and in the other she’s dead. Interesting premise that didn’t work all the time.

Another single season series. At least they were able to to a series “finale” of sorts that was … disappointing.

Full length theme tune.
