Texas Crawfish Festival - MMP

Where is everybody?

I have lunched, napped, bought beerverages and gassed up twuck. All that and rug shampooin’ in one day. I am exhausted!

Hullo. It’s a Monday. I went to work, cleaned out my in box, did my mandatory “Drugs are Bad” training, picked up my travel orders, and not much else. My boss is teaching until Weds, so he’s got nothing for me. The project that had a meeting last week that I missed because I was out doesn’t have anything for me. So mostly it was a boring day.

But I came home to a clean (mostly) house. Everything has been dusted and vacuumed. Bathrooms have been scrubbed. A few things could have been cleaned a bit better, but nothing to get bent out of shape about. They’ll come back bi-weekly and do everything except the 2 guest bedrooms, and we’ll pay $110. So we’ll see how it goes. My main complaint is their “green apple” scented cleaner. I hate scented cleaners. In fact, I have the house open now to de-stinkify it. I’d rather smell ammonia!

**FCD **is crashed. He cleaned the fish tank sump today - he shouldn’t have - it requires him to be on his knees. Daughter will be home shortly, then she has to run off to class, so I don’t know what to do for dinner. I was going to make quiche, but it would have taken too long. So I’ll do it for tomorrow. Tonight shall be grilled cheese or PB&J or something, I guess.

Is it Firday yet?

The air conditioning still isn’t right, but it’s tolerable with a fan. Besides, I get to leave in 40 minutes. The stupid thing is, it’s like 65° outside. No such thing as opening a window in this building.

I am also a bit grr because Internet usage has been SLLLOOOOOWWWW all day. I finally just rebooted, and it’s better. I know I shouldn’t bitch about not being able to use the internet at work…

Mr Rebo is making some kind of Mexican casserole thing for dinner. He had the balls to criticize my King Ranch Chicken! The noive! See what he gets?

Is it Firday yet?

YP and wife have a friend from Germany visiting. He was supposed to go home yesterday but can’t, poor guy. About he’s gettin’ from the airlines is pretty much “who knows”. We cannot control what nature does. Still, poor guy.

With that big of absolute mpsims, I shall go place beerverages and steaks in the cooler and head off to the church house.

Later Y’all!

I’m here! I didn’t entirely miss Monday.

Looks like a lot of fun, Rebo! Sorry for the hot office and slow internet though!

{{Pie}} (Haven’t figured out the new nickname yet… so I’ll confuse visitors even more by using the old nickname. Heh.)

Sorry you don’t like your cleaners’ scented cleaning products, FCM. Ours use something lemony, which is wonderful to go home to. We walk in and it smells fresh and nice.

I finally tried the Italian bread, gt. It’s goooooooooooood. But please tell me that I’m not the only one who read the biga recipe and wondered what the heck “knead to degas” meant and what bread starter has to do with an Impressionist painter who likes dancers? Also, how did you transfer it from the bench proof to the oven? I had it on the pizza peel but jiggling it onto the pizza stone in the oven seemed to de-gas it more than I really wanted. (Seen how I worked the answer to the first question into the second? :p) In any case, the bread was excellent and I will be making it again, especially since KT’s sis gave us some really nice olive oil for Christmas that needs an appropriately high-quality bread to dip in it.

Heh, taxi. I think I only read degas correctly because I saw something in a comment that explained the term. Also, I think I had it on parchment paper and just moved it through the last couple of steps on that. But, yeah, isn’t it good? And for those who are wondering…the recipe is linked from this post on the blog.

Oh, my, lieu, the Mr. Bubbles in the fountain sounds like a challenge. Came across The Weather-Resilient Garden and thought of you. They had recommendations for salt-resilient plants, but I didn’t see anything about soap. And, yanno, I hadn’t thought of Mr. Bubbles in…a really long time.

You had to get your hair cut today, swampy, because it was my scheduled day for a haircut as well.

Off to read my book group book…

Hugs.

Crawfish and ponies!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. My weekend was pretty good, although Sunday dinner with friends left me somewhat pissed off, not the best end to a birthday weekend. (Long story.) But Irish Boyfriend took me out to dinner at the Hyatt on Saturday and we had a lovely time in general.

It’s hard to work when a vacation is so near. So close, yet so far!

The dinner fairy arrived in the guise of my husband. He grilled some steak patties and a couple of “artisan” sausages because my son had to be at work at 6:30 this evening and I don’t get home until 5:30 at the earliest (stoopit traffic).

At any rate, I just ate a steak/hamburger patty and a sausage. No bread. Was stuffed. I let it all settle for a bit, then worked out on the treadmill. I upped the speed this time, but didn’t reach my goal distance because it got too stuffy in the garage. All the same, it was a good workout, my heart rate was definitely up and I was really in need of a shower. Actually, as wet as I was, I kind of looked like I’d just gotten out of the shower.

I’m going to chill the rest of the evening, I think.

I’ve been in overdrive cleaning out Muvvers (my MILs) place. We don’t have an agent yet and we already have three cash-in-hand customers looking to buy it. In this market even! What can I say? It’s in terrible shape but the bones are great and its in the second best neighborhood in all of Pittsburgh. It’s getting to that point where its all becoming real and the tears flow now and then but we need to do it (the money is needed for her care under the current Medicare guidelines) and we want to do it (we don’t want to try and buy it) so maybe its good its done fast.

But on the other hand -------- KNOEBELS OPENS SATURDAY!!! We’re going to visit my family and our clan matriarch Thursday and Friday and head for the park Friday night. By the next MMP I hope to have beaten myself so senseless on the bumper cars that I can’t type until Wednesday. I wanna see blood; even if its my own!

Week after that is the National Haunters Convention in Valley Forge. Any other creepy mumpers out there going, let my know.

Me, I’ve finished the macroeconomics paper (woo and hoo) and given myself a couple days of letting myself be sucked into WoSW before restarting on the disertation.

I think one of the most important skills I’ve learned in this course is a way of doing research that I never used in Chemistry: first you say what you think/know, and then you look for a paper to justify it. For the dis, I have to use stuff on Design of Experiments and do software benchmarking… two things I’ve been doing for 15-25 years… but I’ve already located sources on how to do them. “On the job training” and “if you don’t know this, turn in your professional card” are acceptable in Chemistry (where nobody expects you to quote your clasbooks or substitute an appropiate journal article), but not in Translation (where they do). I have the additional problem that most of my old classbooks were “self published by the students’ coop”; I probably could wiggle a quotation format, but don’t look for the ISBN on “photocopies of what the professor wrote for us because the commercial books blew goats”.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Thus beginneth the irk week for me. Ick!

Time to feed rumbly tummy and purtify for irk.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Today, I haz a blurfs.

Last night was busy, I had ironing to do and then I cooked as it’s my turn. Tarragon chicken ensued, and was rather nice but the sauce was a bit too runny for my liking. Anyway, I have another portion in the fridge that will do for lunch on Wednesday or dinner on Wednesday night. I had decided that midweek was the time to eat stuff out of the freezer instead of cooking properly, so that is my plan.

Tonight it’s Fat Club for me so he’s cooking. As it’s Tuesday, that means Chinese curry and egg-fried rice. Creature of habit, he is. Nothing else exciting to report except that my friends’ wedding is 4 months today. And I have nothing to wear.

Well, of course I have something I could wear but that’s no fun and it doesn’t involve more shopping.

Ack! How can it be morning already? But I have tomorrow off, so there’s that. Also, I finished my book and started another. Yay!

Blurf.

I tried to watch Trauma last night. Fifteen minutes into the episode, I wound up going on a run of my own for a woman with a recent knee replacement who had what appeared to be a massive infection in that leg. I finally got to bed at 11:30.

I should find out today when my piece of Cubeville goes mobile. I can haz muuuving bockses?

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Oops! Happy belated birfday, haze!!!

I am wondering…how come I seem to get stuck in cubes next to snorkers?? The young fellow that got moved in last week sounds like my pug when she reverse sneezes. Okay, he’s been suffering with something upper respiratory but jeeese! Do people not listen to themselves? C’mon, that’s what tissues are for.

Okay, that’s all I got. Happy Tuesday.

That’s a pretty interesting looking book. If it saves just a plant or two it would pay for itself. I sure do appreciate the link!

I’m still diggin’ on this weather. Sunday’s rains were the result of a cool front coming through and the evenings and mornings are worthy of a festival themself. Course attendance might be pretty low at the morning one.

I just found a block of Velveeta that expired two years ago. In my catering fridge. You know, the fridge that got packed up and moved here only one year ago.

Also, I had a VBob moment the other day due to pants that were too big and bending over with large, heavy objects in my hands. At least there weren’t too many people in the room at the time.

You just made me grin. I haven’t had that happen in a rather long time.

ETA: Was the Velveeta unspoiled and next to a pile of Twinkies still in the wrappers?
