Personally, I find this whole arguement stupid. It’s all part of that persecution complex.
If I were to try this same act whenever I enter a thread with the term “ricer” in the OP, I would be laughed at.
I feel the same should be done here.

If “ricer” were used derogatorily (which it is around my part of the world), I’d say you had a case, but evidently I’m too thin-skinned.

Oh, I can help you with this! You have no free speech rights on this message board. This is a message board, not an institution covered by the First Amendment. Your rights here exist solely at the discretion of the SDMB staff. IRL, no, you have the right to speak offensively all you want subject to the relevant Supreme Court rulings on the subject and so your rights don’t end where another’s feelings begin. However, just because you have the right to hurt someone’s feelings doesn’t mean you ought to, or that if you do, you shouldn’t apologize for doing so (rather than, say, complaining about your right to free speech).
Or that if you do, someone’s not going to call you a jackass for doing so - that would be their right as well, n’est-ce pas?
