That’s Some Bad Puns... The MMP

SETTING:
Our local city park.
Cold, cloudy day, raining off and on.
A group of friends walking through the park, on a bridle trail.

First Friend: “Do you think we’ll get in trouble walking on these bridle trails??”

Second Friend: “Oh, I don’t think so! I mean, as cold and wet as it is right now, by the time we get home, we’d have all caught colds!
Then we’ll all be a little hoarse!!!”

bahdumbum!

No, it sounds like (and Myndy called it) she believes she is the center of the universe and all revolves around her. Rebo, does she know you never got the whole sotry from her husband? not that it would change her reaction, but still. When I was in junior high school, my “best friend” was a self centered drama queen. Whenever we got down to talking about stuff in our lives, she always brought the convo around to her and her deadbeat dad or her and her alcoholic mom. (She was also a bad influence on me - she taught me how to shoplift) The friendship breaker was one weekend she was staying over and we were in our beds (I had two beds in my room for having sleepovers) and talking about kids in school, about her stay in a drying out ward, about her affair with the 40 year old therapist, and it wa late, after midnight, and I must have drifted off because the next thing I know, it’s 2am and she’s getting dressed and muttering about how I never listen to her and if that’s how I’m going to act she’ll have no more to do with me, and could my dad drive her home because it’s 2am and her mom doesn’t drive and her dad is out of state…

Yes. It’s good. Please, please let them not horribly kill it in the movie (due out next summer).

Bacon Salt has been acquired! YAY!

I could spend way too much money down at that market. There were lots of great things I really wanted but just couldn’t afford. Maybe it’s a good thing I don’t live here, because I’d be even more broke all the time!

It’s been all right being here, but I’m looking forward to going home. I do love my grandma, but she can be…difficult. It’s easier at a distance. It’s complicated! Family…sigh

It will also be good to go home because my back is not at all happy with the sofa bed I’ve been sleeping on. I think tonight I’m going to just sleep on the sofa itself. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve found the sofa more comfy than the bed included with it. This is not anybody’s fault, just the fault of my screwy back.

Sigh. I told you to behave! Now stop struggling!

So you’re thinking it’s the clothesline? Hmm.

I’m cringing as I read this, but I have to ask. . . who was doing this?!

Good luck with that! I’m trying to get Lunch to behave and even that’s not easy. And they say he’s been housebroken already. :dubious:

The funny thing is that I hadn’t read the lyrics closely enough that I tied the two things together and after posting it, I still thought it said that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Rebo, sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like a lot of hurt and miscommunication all around. I’ll send some healing thoughts over in your direction.

Why yes, yes I do. Why do you ask? ::looking pointedly at Lunch::

::hands over whipped cream, nutella and ostrich feather to rigs::
Have at it! And don’t leave visible marks on the body. Please try to be considerate of other Mumpers who might need to use it later.

Mamatigs, sorry to hear about your foot.
**
swampy**, do these t-shirts have slogans? or pockets? I think I need more details. I was good when it was only black or white but purple t-shirt with no slogan and no pocket is a little hard to imagine. A cite might be good.
**
Dotty**, too tired for a song tonight, but I hope you have a good day anyway.

Good night everyone!

Good morning, everybody!!

**Dotty **-- just 2 more days of Iftar, and counting! Did everybody eat what you [del]stuffed down their throats[/del] lovingly made for them yesterday?
(It is two days, right? Friday night is already Id?)

::Tries to get free::
::Only succeeds in making the clothesline tighter … but manages to throw a loop around Roo and reel her in, too::

You know how it is… once feral, always feral

OK, but why do you care what all the other crazy morons are thinking? Wait… you treating them all like you’re treating me? Cheater! :dubious:

OK, Rigs… let’s head off to room 304 now…? It’s nice and… inappropriate
Maybe you should untie me from Roo’s clothes-line first, though… :o

Good Night, Roo!!

SnowBunny, what’s Bacon Salt, again? Is it kosher? (not that I really care, it just seems like a pertinent question for me to ask!)

Jah – Yay for keeping your paychecks!

I’d join the BE NICE, DAMMIT! World tour… but the only part I could probably play in it would be the Bad Example!

Did I miss using any smilies in this post? :smack:

Morning all! Hi Roo and Nooner! ::waving hello::

Nooner, 3 more iftars left (tonight, Thursday and Friday). Friday is (I believe) the last day of Ramadan, so Saturday we will be back to having lunch on a regular basis and only going to MIL’s house once a week. The even better news is that MIL has decided to go to Kuwait to visit her relatives, so after a Saturday morning cash-collection visit, we should be in the clear.

We have a special Eid playgroup planned for Sunday, which should be nice. Husbands are invited too, although I doubt hubby will want to go. He feels uncomfortable with larger groups of expats that he doesn’t know, primarily because he worries that his English isn’t perfect and doesn’t want to embarass me. I tell him all the time that he has nothing to worry about, but that’s just one of his hang-ups!

Well, I got a message from my folks to let me know they have arrived safe and sound in Cleveland (my sister lives there - well, until the end of November, anyway), after flight cancellations and delays, missed connections, etc. LAX sounds like a fabulous airport!!! :sarcastic smiley: Less than 2 weeks now until they arrive here. I really need to finish cleaning all the crap out of the spare room and get things organised!

Jah, I WISH I could keep all my salary, but it just seems to vanish faster than if someone picked my pocket!

HRH has woken up again, so off I go …

I followed you until that last word. I’m cheating at what, pray tell. :dubious:

rigs, don’t let him trick you. He’s a wiley one. Just untie me and you’re good to go.

How did you get in the Mump without knowing this?! I thought it was a prerequisite.

~waving~ back to Dotty

Look at all the new kids this week. All right, time to get in line guys and take what’s coming to yah!

You may resume normal posting now.

Hey, bbs2k, you missed at least one:

::gives kitemaker_chuck a noogie on bbs2k’s behalf::

Woo hoo…I slept straight through till 4:08. Not actually sure what time I fell asleep, but it was early - around 9 or so. And what’s more, I’m actually yawning right now, so there’s hope that I’ll actually get another couple hours in. Yay!

GT

Blah. Up every hour and now I have to go to work. I’m TAHRED I tells ya. Actually feel a bit disembodied about now. Hope I can drive home this afternoon and go straight to NAP mode.

I thought Roo was female. I’m not interested in tying up females and applying nutella and ostrich feathers (so messy) to them.

off to make some money the honest way. Whose idea was this, anyway?

I cannot believe the many levels of lunacy on which my workplace operates. I had to prepare a list of recent medicine grads which goes to the General Medical Council so they can be registered and start work. It’s very important because they usually have jobs lined up to go straight into, and they are not allowed to work until the GMC has them registered. See? We have a shortage of doctors and the Uni is stopping them from working because the GMC doesn’t know they’re qualified.

So you’d think the Uni would be falling over itself to get the document signed and have the official Uni seal put on it, wouldn’t you? No, that is not the case. I prepared said document on Monday morning, checked it with the student records bloke who looks after the med school on Monday afternoon, got my covering letter to the GMC signed by the taught student records assistant manager…and took it all down to the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

The document has to be signed by two people - one is our acting Registrar who is probably doing the jobs of at least three people by now, and the other is the Vice-Principal who comes into his office half a day every week provided there’s nothing more pressing, like a round of golf with his chums. I have to check with the VC’s office to find out who’s signing so I can get their names on the document, and make sure it’s ready for when they come in. I took it to them on Tuesday morning 'cos the acting Reg was supposed to sign that evening, and the V-P would sign today.

So this morning I get a phone call from the VC’s office to say that the acting Reg has looked at the document and refused to sign it. Why? Because the covering internal memo from us to them asking for signatures wasn’t signed by the taught student records manager. But they never sign internal stuff…never, ever, ever.

What kind of stupidity is that? So when the GMC ring up complaining that they need confirmation of our grads, and the grads ring up in tears 'cos they can’t start work…who do you think will get the blame? The acting Registrar or me?

Bah! And on top of that, I now have to wait 1-2 weeks for my funky new boots. It’s definitely not my day. I could well be turning to chocolate and I don’t even really like the stuff.

Morning all! Dotty, I know you’re glad that Ramadan is winding down. Yikes, I can’t believe how rude your in-laws are … and what a waste of food. As my Mom always pointed out, “there are starving children in China!!!” How they would be able to get our leftovers, I never could get an answer to, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{{{{{{RIGS}}}}}}}}} Sometimes you just need some hugs; the Mumpers are thinking of you.

I’m up and caffeinated (mostly), ready to leave for work – late! Argh, I did so well yesterday; I got in early and made an hour of credit time. Looks like I’ll be staying late today. :frowning: Oh well! I’m sorry that I keep forgetting what I actually want to post - I have it all together in the beginning, but once I start typing it seems to fly out of me! Have a great day, all.

**chuck ** - that was all kinds of boooo hisssss <groan> - nice first MMP entry!

Today is my second Grand Jury day. In a bit, I’ll shower and find appropriate garb (translation: pretty much anything but this robe I’m wearing) and about 8:30, I’ll head down to Leonardtown. I wonder if this is the day we’ll tour the jail? Wonder what kinds of donuts they’ll have in the jury room? Wonder if we’ll get out at noon again? Wonder if Roseanne Roseannadanna would think I’m asking too many questions??

I was having a weird dream towards this morning that we were looking at buying a house on the water, but the deck was rotting away and covered with some kind of blue carpeting. There was also something about a contest to win a new deck, and our prospective next door neighbor informed us that she was going to win it. And someone in the dream (it was a Doper, but I don’t recall who it was supposed to be) pointed out a huge hole in the blue carpeting. And I woke up with a headache. No, I wasn’t drinking last night.

Anyway, hugs all around, just because. Random smooches, just because. And I’ll toss in the occasional butt-pinch, just because.

On that note, I should probably head to the shower and don jury garb. Good day to you all!

Wasn’t me. The guy riding with me that night is an ex Navy Corpsman, so he’s not exactly shy about doing stuff like that.

Caffeination done.

For a time my best friend was a Navy Corpsman. He was also the best shot with a rifle on the ship. He used to joke that he could kill you, bring you back to life, and then kill you again.

My Classical Chinese teacher in high school used to do that when students were late.

After pretending it’s still July, the weather has now decided to fast forward to November. At least I got to wear the sweater Cloud Maiden gave me - it’s too small for her, she says, even though she’s only the tiniest bit bigger than me. Hey, I’m not complaining. New clothes are always good.

Well, it you’re treating all the crazy morons of the world the same way you’re treating me… you must be one busy Roo with that clothesline

Yes, she is… I didn’t know she swung that way, either! :stuck_out_tongue: Just cut her loose and leave her here. Take **me **with you; still tied up is cool, if you want!
But maybe whipped cream instead of Nutella? Yes, I know… I’m such a *vanilla *sort of guy…

::enjoys the kiss; pinches right back:: Now that’s what I call being NICE!

It’s been a pretty good day for me – started scary when something in the latest version I released totally broke down (but at least it got caught by QA!), but then I found that bug and closed several other doozies in a few hours. I was so productive!! Sometimes, I manage to get into a sort of “zone,” and suddenly all the problems I’ve been banging my head against for a week seem to be so obvious. I love those days

G’mornin’, mumpers!

I’m done caffeinatin’, and heading to the microwave to warm up my yummy breakfast of leftover fish and scalloped potatoes. What?

I hope today is more productive than yesterday. Waiting for a computer to think gets old very quickly.

Urgh. Need tea. Back later.
