That’s Some Bad Puns... The MMP

Yeah, I’m only posting to get you guys to shut up and stop talking and not make the thread so long…

:dubious:

…Houston, we have a problem.

Hang in there, Rigs. You’re allowed to have down days. And to talk about it, or not, as the mood seizes you.

So which boat are you going to buy, welby? And that one property where you were looking at the for sale sign – trust me, you do not want to know how many extra zeroes get tacked onto the price in that part of Annapolis based on location (inconvenient), charm (200 years old with attendant problems), and parking (unavailable)!!

Alas, Special One, when I said Tuesday I meant next Tuesday. I can see already how much fun (not!) I’m going to have between now and then. I have just barely enough meds on hand to take a half a dose, but it’s nowhere near enough; the foot is already throbbing and the pain is rapidly working its way up my leg. I am not going to have a fun or productive week, I can tell you that. This level of pain is enough to prevent concentration, which is enough to prevent working. :frowning: I’m feeling a seriously cranky mood coming on fast. Durn right you’d better be afraid of me if there are any whips around – I reserve the right to use those on my doc!

So, as I said, I’m struggling to work. Mostly losing the struggle, too. :frowning: At least I made the Idiot happy by throwing his Kong for him; he’s pretty easy to please, fortunately. He’s apparently recovered from his over-exertions at Gettysdope; poor arthritic baby, it was two days before he wanted to play again, even with upping his aspirin dose (with vet approval) from once a day to twice a day! The kids were having so much fun throwing the Kong Saturday that Papa Tigs had a hard time convincing them that Isaac’s willingness far exceeds his ability these days. I know how Isaac feels. :frowning:

Back to sulking and attempting, unsuccessfully, to work.

I’d love the t-shirt!

Thanks for the encouragement folks. I still want everyone to like me, even when they’re psycho. Because I’m nice, too, dammit!

I’m so bored! My software keeps hanging up and I can’t work. My cube neighbor and I are getting good at shooting rubber bands… I saw these wooden rubber band guns on e-bay - I might get them for us for X-mas!

ETA to add - {{{Rigs}}} (and anyone else who needs one!)

welby, your better half took some terrific photos! And I’m sure you won’t be surprised to learn that I recognized most of the street shots and more than a few of the boat shots. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time around the boats - we were mostly in the assorted tents.

{{{{rigs}}}}

Well, much as I wanted the trip to be cancelled, it looks like I’ma gonna be traveling from 21-26 Oct. Oh well, it’s good for my career, right? <sigh> Whatever. I’m a pro. I can deal.

Is it Friday yet?

:dubious: embarrassed to share it with everyone? Let’s head over to room 304 for a minute, you can tell it to me in private…

I understand you… especially the part about not being able to share your feelings :frowning: Hang in there!

Tigs – that sucks! :frowning:

They have no fear of you.
Solution: kill one of them in front of the whole class. Let them know that you will do it to who ever when ever it’s necessary. Worked great for me.

I’m very…, I guess ‘disconnected’ today. Like I’m here, watching some guy that looks like me, doing my job.

And damn, he sure is good looking.

Well, there’s what we need, and then there’s what I want. These are two entirely different concepts. We need a decent cruising sailboat, but if I had my druthers I’d get one of the big honking motorsailers.

We called, the price was only 1.3 million. And it needed work.

Not surprised at all, and welbywife is certainly turning into a reasonable photographer. I’ll post the nude descending a staircase photos next time she has the camera out and I’m going downstairs.

We spent time everywhere. We got there at the opening and bugged out around 7:30 or so. We figure the next time we do a boat show we’ll have to take a more directed approach instead of looking at every boat that looks remotely cool. I was disappointed that there were so few pilothouse designs, and the one design I like is about four times the size of our boat budget. Other than that, we had a lot of fun talking to the various reps and crawling through the boats.

As for motorsailers - they’re great - our last boat was a Fisher 37 - great boat! Scour the websites - there are reasonable motorsailers out there, especially if you’re willing to put some elbow grease into them. When you’re ready to start shopping, we’d gladly offer our experienced eyes, if you’d like.

Annapolis is one of our favorite cities, with or without the boat show…

Uhhhhhh… nude welby pics?

Um. I don’t know that that’s such a great idea. You’d get swampy all overheated and it takes weeks to calm him down again.

I am very tired of puking. Haven’t done it today, thank goodness. Little one, we need that food. Speaking of which, I should pack up my dinner and head off to work. Bleh. Three more weeks!

Thanks, all. I am here AND in class, thanks to the miracle of modern technology.
I think a lot of it is that I am just tired. Tahred. I’ve had to be up for work so early the past few days, plus the next two, then the craziness that is on campus…
I need a vacation.
Off to pay attention in class. Haze–if I were your student, I’d read everything, but I’d drive you nuts with my nitpicking and close questioning. Heh.

I’d love to have a student that actually ASKED QUESTIONS. I’ve forgotten they exist.

I borrowed The Time Traveler’s Wife from the library today and just finished reading it. It was so good I couldn’t bear to put it down. And I cried a little at the end. Best book I’ve read in a while.

Oooh, and we could have a BE NICE, DAMMIT! talkshow on which we tell people who are jerks that they should be nice. The marketing with the combination of tv show, book, and t-shirts would be perfect!  :stuck_out_tongue:

{{rigs}} and {{tigs}}

Gotta run home and make dinner! We’re trying this.

Oooh, that chicken sounds yum, taxi. Can I come over for dinner? Please???
(So it would require a little bit of travel…travel build character and stuff.)

Mean people suck. That’s why I like nice people, dammit. (Sorry everyone seems to be running into the mean ones today. :frowning:  )

Hi Meeks!!!

I’m tired - again - although I feel better than I did yesterday.

Started to read my next book so that I can get to my next Ann Patchett novel so that I can get to whatever we’re reading for book group in two weeks so that I can get to a book I promised I’d read after that. I’m thinking I’ll read *The Time Traveler’s Wife * after that; I’ve been meaning to read it for a while. (That made sense, right? Did I mention I’m tired.)

Back later…

GT

Just finished putting ears/noses/tails/collars on 3 kitty jars. I was going to do the 3 doggies, but dog noses are more complex and I just didn’t feel like it. If jury duty ends early enough tomorrow, I’ll be able to finish them then. After I go to WalMart and buy doggie and kitty food.

Supper was veggie soup - one freezer bag holds one meal for the 2 of us - quick and easy. And yum! Altho apparently not enough for FCD, who is eating a bowl of cereal right now.

Looks like it’s going to cool a bit tomorrow, but the real cooldown is farther out. Can’t believe it topped 90 today! Stoopit weather.

I like the idea of “Be Nice, Dammit” T-shirts. We should design them and sell them on Cafe Press, for the benefit of, um, the MumperFest Fund. Think we could sell enough to fund airline tickets and hotel rooms for all of us?? In Tahiti? Or Little Rock? Or the geographic center of our combined locations??

I’m likin’ the idea of a Mumperfest in Little Rock! What? It’d give the folks in Little Rock sump’n to talk about and that’d be nice, dammit!

taxi in addition, we could travel all over and give BE NICE, DAMMIT! seminars. We’d corner the manners market! I can see Miss Manners quivering at our might now! OH THE POWER!!! Also, let me know how that 30 minute Country Captain turns out. See, Country Captain is my favorite thing to eat ever but it does take a while to prepare. Thus, I’ve made it very few times. However, there is a restaurant in town that has it on the menu and if’n we go there I always order it. It’s teh YUM!

rigs sometimes we all get that way. This is the place to come and talk about it. Hope you feel better soon.

Ok, work in a little while. Purple pocket t and black jeans tonight. I still hate third shift but I’ll live. Folks are more laid back though. Heh. Fifteen minute breaks turn into thirty minute breaks and thirty minute lunch breaks turn into forty-five minute lunch breaks. Nobody much cares, it seems. Tonight I get to spend time measuring CO[sub]2[/sub] levels in half barrel kegs. Envy Me! (That’s how you use the phrase as sarcasm Sean.)

Alrighty then. I suppose I could do a couple productive things before work purtification, so I shall.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

FCM, that’s a purty boat!

I don’t know that I want a true motorsailer, but given our plans, I’d like some sort of pilot house design. We’re still a few years from our purchase date and plan to take a loooot of time and see a looot of boats before we make the jump.

Annapolis is great, we’re planning to make another trip just so welbywife can see the town this time. Mainly she saw boats, and an ice cream place.

I was just surfing the local area message board and came across this sentence embedded in a thread:

It made my head explode.

But I’m feeling much better now.

I’ve always wanted to live in an inappropriate manor–I wonder if it’s architecturally sound.
I’m in class, but surfing the net. I can’t stand this class.

**Haze-**I have to work the next 2 days, but post some of your stuff you teach–I’ll give you questions!
Swampy–good luck at work tonight. Purple T sounds nice.

Guess what **I **got in the mail today? Yep, a jury summons. Yay. Why do they always manage to send them at the most inconvenient time possible? I swear, it’s a talent. Since later would be even more inconvenient, I’m just going to hope I don’t get called. Luckily, this is a 5 paycheck month, so I can just stash that “extra” check against having to serve next month. (It is so very, very strange to not owe money to anyone. I can’t quite get over how my paycheck gets deposited in my account and **stays **there. I’d like to keep it that way.)

Now I’m off to pick up my allergy meds. Achoo!
