That’s Some Bad Puns... The MMP

Feel better, rosie!

I had a dream last night that I’ve had repeatedly over the past year - I am back in Korea, at my old job, and trying to get to work but cannot catch a cab. I have this feeling of absolute dread because I know I’m going to be horribly late. At the same time I have to pick up my baby from a hospital. They keep telling me that they’ll only keep the baby there til 2pm - after that, they have to throw it out. I call my mom and beg her to do something about this, but she tells me sternly that I’m old enough to be responsible for myself. Last night’s dream had the added variant of That Guy, but I can’t remember exactly what he was doing there.

I dunno what it means. That I’m afraid I’m going to get knocked up and consequently be unable to work? :dubious:

I got my dog a tad sooner than I thought. Nelly had been fixed before, so I got to bring her home today.

Here she is. She likes me. The cat is displeased.

Feel better soon, Rosie!

If a movie you see
with a Rebecca or three…
that’s DeMornay.

Excellent news, doggio! Congrats!

The guy who does this strip must have been reading this thread…

If it eludes you… … think FDR.

Heh

I got it without the hint, too! W00t!!

Too much to do today. :stuck_out_tongue: Still got some game time in though. Portal was indeed short (though I haven’t done any of the advanced bonus levels yet), but it was a lot of fun, and it has an absolutely wicked sense of humour. If it were longer it could have stood on its own as a very good game. Episode 2 on the other hand is one hell of a lot harder than previous installments. A metric crapload more fighting, and the fighting is harder. (Ogdamn Hunters.)

Doggio - Awww, she’s sweet! I’m sure she’ll love it there. The cat, not so much – but tough.

Heff&Roo - Well, I wouldn’t let the kiddies spoil it for you. As I said above, Portal is a ton of fun on its own. Short, sure, and the puzzles aren’t terribly difficult (though they get pretty sneaky) but it’s pretty freaky, and the humour is awesome. It’s also relatively non-violent; your only weapon, as it were, is the portal gun, so anything you have to destroy (and it’s just machines) has to be done with some thought as to how to get rid of it. If you have Steam installed you can buy it by itself if you don’t want the rest of the Orange Box. As for non-violent, non-scary adventures … well, that’s a tough one. The ones I know of do feature some violence to one degree or another. Two of my older favourites are Omikron: The Nomad Soul (doesn’t work on more recent hardware though, much to my dismay), and Beyond Good & Evil, which also has its own problems on very modern hardware. If you’re into puzzles, there are two completely awesome 3D ball/physics puzzlers that got me completely hooked: Ballance and Switchball. Both games are extremely similar, though Switchball is far prettier-looking and has more interesting puzzles (and requires a higher-end PC). Both have great scenery and very intuitive gameplay.

I don’t get it, FCM, even with the hint.

Nelly looks like she’s really, really happy to be your new bestest friend ever, canineservant – I hope you two have many happy years together! And the cat can, well, suffer.

**MamaTigs ** - try reading the next to the last panel aloud. It took me 3 or 5 readings for it to click.

Ice cream has been consumed, house has been closed, dishes have been washed, and so my weekend slips away. A winning lotto ticket would be really nice about now.

Update: Nelly is a quiet beagle. She didn’t even bark when a neighbor rang the doorbell. Unfortunatly, she snores. Can you stick Breath-Right strips on a dog?

:D:D:D it hurts to laugh :D:D:D
migraine better, sinuses still throbbing - I even dreamed I asked someone for a tylenol but we kept dropping the pills on the floor so I never did get to take any (in the dream)

db - Nelly is a sweet puppy. And she loves you because you have given her a home full of things to explore (even a cat). And Lucretia will come around - how could she not? Besides she knows you’ll always be good to her - who else would put a cushion atop a stereo just for kitty but a cat person?

I may be late to the new MMP - I am going to resist coming in here in the morning because I always end up being late when I do.

This one was hilarious because it wasn’t on the first post on the page anymore.
Your coffee machine experience amused me immensely this morning. Thank you. I needed that.

Believe me, if you get Teh Sick, we won’t know the difference between Teh Mad and Teh Sick look. They’ll both look the same. :frowning:

doggio, nelly looks so much bigger in your house than in that first set of pictures. She grew so fast. :stuck_out_tongue:

McUNE, in the Fall/Winter 2007 Stampin’ Up catalog, I’m talking about the kits on pages 174-177. The demonstrator said that each instruction sheet showed how to make a box (or some type of cardboard carrier). I wondered if the template for the box came in the set. So with the set that you got, was there a template for a box in it?
That Christmas card is indeed very beautiful. Is the Merry Christmas part rubber stamped? It looks like there’s some white shading around the edges? How did you get that effect?
What does it mean to receive a calling? I’m not a Christian (although I do go to church), so you’ll have to explain in non-Christian terms, please. And how did standing in church go?

Don’t walk into our corner. We’re all quarantined over here.

rosie, sorry you’re feeling bad. Welcome to the sickies corner! Put your feet up and relax.

It means you had quite a bit to drink last night before you went to bed.

Mork, oooh. . .thank you!! I like the scenery in Ballance very much. It’s so beautiful. I don’t know if I can play the game but it’s worth it to look it up just to look at the beautiful scenery. Omikron has a picture of a skull on the cover so that one’s out, but the other ball one looks nice too.

FCM, I don’t get the comic either. I mean, I get what it says in the second to the last panel. But how does that relate to this thread and the last panel? Mamatigs, I’m glad you admitted it before me. I didn’t want to say I was lost again.
Thanks to all you Mumpers for sitting in the corner with me and to those Mumpers who are keeping me entertained. Besides the existing symptoms from other days, today brought new and even more gruesome symptoms. It has NOT been a pleasant ride so far. So thanks everyone, for helping keep my spirits up.

Awwwwwwwww… Nellie is a cutie doggio! Lucretia Hellcat will get over it in time. Or not.

FCM bad pun! Bad, bad pun! I love it! HEE!

I am officially a curmudgeon. This mornin’ in church I nabbed two boys wanderin’ around in the narthex after the start of services and made ‘em go sit down with their parents. Also, since I noticed several people fannin’ themselves with service leaflets, I turned the AC down a couple notches which made a big difference. After church [del]this old bitty[/del] a church member came up to me and started to chastise me about doin’ that cause she got cold. I stopped her midsentence and reminded her that she can always bring a sweater or jacket with her in case she gets cold but people that are hot usually can’t take sump’n off to get cooler. She looked somewhat taken aback but got the message. Oh and our Priest and his wife are in Spain so we had a guest Priest, the assistant from the big church downtown. He’s so young! Like maybe 27 or 28 even. He looked so cute in his vestments playin’ grownup! :stuck_out_tongue: Actually he gave a pretty good sermon.

I slept til about an hour and a half ago so maybe I can stay up all night tonight and sleep durin’ the day tomorrow. Have I mentioned this week that…

I HATE THIRD SHIFT!!!

BioRosie hope you’re feelin’ better. I’ve never had migraine headaches but I do know about icky sinuses.

Ok, off to do some other stuff. I’ll check back in from time to time with the night shift.

Roo, hope you are feeling better soon!

Seems like everyone around here and me is getting Teh Sick or some variety of teh sick.

Roo, you have me drooling. I hadn’t peeked at the New Fall/Winter catalog yet. I did peek online though and it is some yummy stuff! I’m wondering if the instructor sheet just includes a template printed on a piece of paper that you cut out? I couldn’t tell from the catalog if you got an actual box to make or not. I do know that SU! (Stampin’ Up!) used to sell some punch out type boxes. I don’t know if they still do, but they were really cute. I do like the kits, and there are a couple that I want. I’m on a self-imposed no spending spree right now. I do not need any more scrappin’ stuff. Only stuff that I’m buying is if I absolutley need something for my up coming craft fair. I am going to add a few things on my Christmas list though. Oh, and to answer your question, I didn’t get an instruction sheet for a box, but that was probably 5 years ago, when I ordered my kit.

Thank you for the compliment on the card! Nope, the Merry Christmas is not rubber stamped. That is a rub-on. The white shading that appears is just the flash from the camera and the edge of the rub-on.

To receive a calling, is something unique in the LDS (Latter-Day Saint) church. After you become a member, you more than likely will receive a calling. The calling is inspired by the Lord and revealed to the Bishop. Since no one in the LDS church is paid, all of the members do some form of running the church. My, small part, is being a Literacy Specialist, which will help people set scripture reading goals, help the Spanish members with the ESL resources in the community, helping them fill out job applications, etc. It should be interesting. I don’t know everything it entails yet, I’m meeting with someone from the Church to go over everything more in detail. It should be a challenge, but interesting. Standing in church went ok, didn’t no one booed or laughed, and some of the ladies came up to me and said that I would do a wonderful job.

I think I’m going to be lame and be off to bed. I have had a huge headache all day that hasn’t gone away. I spent the afternoon lazing around on the couch. I hope I’m not getting Teh Sick.

That’s interesting. The Mennonites just instantly co-opt you the minute you walk in, and force you onto six commitees. Driving Husband is Mennonite. I think he’s on eight commitees right now.

Work was very quiet, but the business owner came by, was very friendly, and said he’s really sorry to see me go. I told him it’s okay, because I’m coming back next year! Maybe I should have let him get all sentimental.

I think it’ll be early bedtime. I definitely have a head cold. I’m all snuffly.

A quiet beagle? There is such a thing? I like the beagles I’ve met, but I’ve never met a quiet one. I guess there had to be one somewhere. Good girl, Nelly!

Nobody better give me Teh Sick. That’s the last thing I need right now! So all of you get well and nobody send me any germs, puhleeze? I just missed a week and a half of work and while I’m not going to starve, I need my next paycheck!

Sheep pics are forthcoming, but honestly I don’t have the energy to load 'em up tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I have to do the usual Monday morning opening-the-shop bit, which sucks because that means I need to be there a bit before 8 instead of at 10. Hopefully a lot of cleaning and stuff got done around there Friday in my absence. And I am looking forward to seeing my various doggy friends again, I’ve missed them!

Oh, and concerning sheep – I’m thinking you’d have to be real lonely for one of them to start to look appealing. I always thought that, but after seeing some up close and personal, now I know for sure. They get really dirty doing their sheep thing up in the summer pastures, lemme tell ya! (Well, I guess they probably actually do the sheep thing in the winter so that the babies arrive in the spring, but whatever.)

Going to bed, I’ll pull something out of my butt for the new MMP in the morning.

HI, all.

I did fulfill one part of my plans for this weekend–I got semi-tipsy last night. It took one Corona to do it, too. Lightweight I am.
I’m in my hotel room, after a long day of boring lecture. I face the horrible teacher tomorrow --but 5 of my friends are in that class. We had a nice dinner tonight. I do like coming to see all my friends here. Too bad there are classes attached to doing so. Went for a swim and hot tub this afternoon as well. Nice life.

Home tomorrow and back to whatever we call the grind at home…

MCUNE that seems like a very worthwhile calling. I’m sure you’ll do well.

An Episcopalian can do as little or as much as he or she wishes. I’m an usher and a lector and serve on our outreach committee. I pretty much always show up on work days and have served two terms on the Vestry. I’m eligible to be nominated for election to the Vestry for the upcoming year but I don’t know if I’ll allow myself to be nominated. One must ask if the person is willing before nominating him or her. After serving two three terms in seven years, having another year off has been good. However, I see several of our newer members who I feel would be great Vestry members and would like to see a couple of them elected. We elect three new members to the Vestry at the annual Parish meeting in January. Also I just made my pledge to the church for the next year, bein’ as I is a good Episcopalian and all.

It’s midnight. I have seven more hours to go at least before goin’ to bed. I’ve considered a beerverage or two but I’m afraid if’n I did I’d just get sleepy, so I’ve been good. So far.

Rigs I did sorta the same type thing when I went to grad school, except we’d have classes for a week at a time for five months out of the year over the course of three years. I liked that cause I could work and go to school at the same time. We’d reserve our rooms for the whole five months each year. The hotel liked it because they knew they’d have at least twenty people stayin’ there for a whole week so we got a discount. Of course I was reimbursed for my expenses as a part of my grad school grant, but still the discount was nice.

doggio if the MMP is from your butt, all I gotta say is I’m glad I won’t be able to smell it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Semi-tipsy? Rigs, I’m disappointed. Hey, when I do get around to inviting myself over to your place, I think we should both get trashed and flood the MMP with durkn pists.

Hope you sick MMPers feel better tomorrow. Even if it is a Monday.
