That’s Some Bad Puns... The MMP

Roo, your welcome. The catalog is fairly large. There have been a couple of the scrapbooking sets that I’ve wanted to get, but I ended up buying the stamps instead. I did buy one years ago, and it did include an instruction sheet with ideas. Do you have an item number or remember what the kit was called, or even a page number? Let me look at it and see what I can figure out. You can create a design on just about anything. You can take an image, trace it, on the computer, save it as a Wishblade file, and then you can cut it away. I haven’t found the need to do that yet though. So far I’ve always found ding-bat fonts with the shapes/images I need in them. I download fonts all the time and the machine does wonderful in cutting everything out! I even brought it into work and used it for a work project once. Our Equipment Guys were fascinated with it and wanted to know how it worked and everything.

Oh, you mentioned the tone on tone effect. If you ever buy stamps, get the VersaMark ink. That is kind of like a clear ink, but when you stamp on the paper, and it dries, it leaves a tone on tone effect. I used it on my Christmas cards last year. Here is a picture of the card. It’s very simple, since I had to make so many.
I really need to go and get ready for chruch today. Off to shower and find some decent clothes to wear. I have to stand up in front of the entire congregation today, not looking forward to it, lol. I’m one who would rather stand in the back and remain unknown, lol.

I am intrigued. Why do you have to stand up in front of the entire congregation today MCUNE? Do you have to give a talk? Are you being recognized for all the wonderful stuff you do? Are you Exhibit A of what a bad person looks like? Is the congregation gonna point and laugh? I need to know!

Speakin’ of church, I’m havin’ rather heathenish feelin’s this morning. See, if I was not ushin’ today I wouldn’t even go. Alas, unless I catch some horrid, communicable, lyin’ at death’s door disease within the next hour, go I shall cause I’m on duty. I don’t wanna though.

I’s tahred and sleepy!

Swampy, I get to stand up in front of everyone because I received a calling, and that is announced to the church. Since there are so many people there and not everyone knows everyone, you get to stand up in front of the congregation. The congregation could point and laugh at me though, wondering how in the world I’m going to be a “Literacy Specialist.” No talk yet, I have a feeling that is coming soon though…I do not excel at public speaking, lol.

Now to go get dressed and head out the door.

Later I will post some more pictures, including a couple that make it very very clear that not only has fall started here, but it’s just about at it’s best. But I thought I’d wait and get parade pics as well as yesterday’s (not that there are that many) before getting 'em online. The trees here are just glorious, and the pics don’t do them justice!

I have to caffeinate, then go check out the sheep a bit later.

Ick. I don’t like standing up at the front of church, either. It’s scary.

Lunch, the kitten is cute and fluffy. Please mail her to me now. My cats are big and dumb and less cute. They’d make very nice hats or throw rugs.

Went to bed again LATE (after one)(this getting older thing is ridiculous. One isn’t late) because I went to a movie with AT and QD. We saw The Golden Age, and it was fun and historical-romancey-intrigue-y. The costumes were gorgeous. Then came home and chatted, and went to bed.

At 2:15 this morning someone pitched a screaming fit outside our place. It sounded like a hysterical teenage girl. Mr. Lissar went outside to investigate, and came back fifteen minutes later. Apparently there were three different pairs of hysterical fighting, one after another:

Father-daughter
Girlfriend-boyfriend
Pair of teenage girls screaming
QD says work at the hospital has been full of stupid injurious because of Oktoberfest. I wonder if that was the cause of last night’s wake-ups.

Time to make tea and brunch, and then putter until work.

Oh, I forgot! Lazy Husband and his parents were walking their dogs in the nearby cemetary, when they came upon a live chicken. Rooster, actually. Fluttering around. They tried to catch it, called Driving Husband for backup, and the four of them corralled it.

It’s in a cage in their house. Everyone’s mystified about why there’s a live chicken wandering around in the middle of the city. It’s small and pretty. I hope Lazy Husband’s brother doesn’t mind that it’s in his room.

Evenin’ all. We are home from our playgroup Eid party - mini-pizzas, mini-quiches, chocolate cake, cheesecake and cheesecake brownies (made by me) for the grown-ups and teething rusks and rice crackers for the bubs. Noor wore her Ralph Lauren denim dress (photos later - I left the camera in the diaper bag, which is now upstairs in Noor’s room) and was undisputedly the best-dressed girl there! She even made it through the whole afternoon without puking on her dress!!!

Lili, you think 1am is late - wait until tinyninjachef arrives. You will think 10pm is late!!! Mind you, you will first go through a stage of not knowing (or caring) what time of day it is, as long as you can sleep! Oh, and maybe the rooster was supposed to be part of some kind of weird sacrificial rite, to waken the dead!

McUne, that Christmas Card looks so professional - I’m impressed. It’s all I can do to remember to buy Christmas cards each year, let alone make them. And don’t even start on writing in them and sending them so they actually arrive before the day! Before my brother and his wife had their kids (3 boys, aged 5, 3 and 1), my SIL used to make her own greeting cards - she made all the birth announcement cards for their first son, but that feat was never repeated (understandable with 3 holy terrors racing around the house).

Hubby has gone out for a walk to get some fresh air - why does he have to do that after I come home with Noor, instead of during the 3 hours that we were gone? Probably because it was still 95°F/35°C when we left at 2:30pm, but it’s now only 86°F/30°C. Ahhhh, lovely autumn weather! :snerk:

Now I have to think about what to do for dinner. I am feeling incredibly lazy and unmotivated, so I think I may limit myself to oven-baked chicken schnitzels and throw together a quick green salad. Sold, to the lady in the lavender t-shirt!!!

Morning, all. I’ve been up and caffeinating for a while, but still feel like c-r-a-p. Not Teh Sick, just miserably achy in my foot and up my leg. This half dose of meds sucks bigtime, have I mentioned that once or twice in the last few days? :dubious:

Anyway, I’m glad you survived the last week, Dotty, and can now enjoy a much more peaceful week, especially with a nice high chair for HRH to sit it. May I offer a suggestion? If you can find an el-cheapo plastic-covered tablecloth or something similar, spread it out on the floor underneath the high chair. It will save a LOT of floor scrubbing. Trust me on this one. My son took particular delight in seeing how far and wide he could spread his meals, but the tablecloth could be easily picked up and tossed in the washer. Thank heaven for Wal-Mart specials!

I forgot to mention our big excitement yesterday. I finally got a Furminator™ animal brush, and tried it out. Isaac, who usually only stands still for a brushing for a minimal time before wanting to go back to chasing his Kong, stood like a statue for as long as I wanted to brush him, and you would not believe the loose hair that came off him. And, mind you, I brush the dogs every week or so anyway, but have never gotten this much off him. Rusty is a brushing whore, so he let me brush and brush and brush till I was afraid I’d irritate his skin; but I also got huge amounts of hair off him.

But the real surprise? Was Emily. She loved it! Yes, a cat loved to be brushed! Mind you, I couldn’t try to hold her still with my free hand but had to brush a moving target, but she thought it felt great! And considering that immediately after I finished brushing her, she went in the bathroom and, in a moment of surprising kindness for a cat, horked up a giant hairball on the tile floor, not on the bed or carpet as she usually does, she will need lots more regular brushing. She’s never let me brush her before this, and she hates hairball medicine so much that even if I smear it on her paw she just rubs it off on my blankets or something, so the Furminator™ was an excellent discovery.

So that was my big thrill yesterday, brushing my animals. Here’s hoping today brings equal excitement!

Good morning all.

I’m up and caffienating. Everyone else is asleep, so it’s nice and quiet.

All of you sickies need to keep your sick germs to yourself. I cannot get sick.

I don’t think we have anything planned today, which is nice. I havent’ decided what dinner will be, but I need to decide soon, because I need to take the meat out of the freezer.

MamaTigs, I have an even better option than a “hose-down” plastic tablecloth. Arabs tend to be messy eaters (well, at least the ones I know are - MIL is frightening to watch :shudder: ), so all the supermarkets sell rolls of disposable plastic tablecloths (about 1m[sup]2[/sup] - 100cmx100cm, or a bit more than 3ftx3ft). Naturally, I have a roll of those in my kitchen drawer (along with the aluminium foil, the baking parchment and the cling-film). So in the near future, it will be a simple matter of tearing off a plastic drip-catcher and sliding it under the high-chair, so once feeding is done, I can just fold it up with all the mess inside and toss it in the bin. Yes, I use disposable diapers too and no, I am too busy chasing my daughter round the house to give a flying fark about landfill.

Guess how I started off my day? I meticulously washed the coffee machine, filled it with beans, flipped it on . . . and walked away without putting the pot on. A few minutes later, the entire kitchen floor has been baptized quite thoroughly with coffee. :smack:

Why yes, I was quite drunk/high yesterday.

migraine/sinus headache
tylenol not working
can’t take NSAIDs of any kind (medically bad - various reasons)
tempted to pop a Skelaxin (muscle relaxant) and a Vicoden and call it a day
so much pain, no pronouns available

An excellent solution, Dotty! I never had the option of disposable, or you’d better believe I would have used it. So your MIL needs some lessons from Miss Manners, eh? You know, the more I hear, the more I wonder you haven’t taken hubby and HRH and moved far, FAR away from her.

Don’t feel so bad, Haze. Yesterday Papa Tigs put a full pot of coffee on, without noticing that there was still a couple cups left in the pot. So he ended up cleaning the kitchen counter and floor, too. And he wasn’t even drunk or hungover, just unobservant.

Can I just fast forward to Tuesday so I can go to the doctor and stop hurting? Please? Pretty please? :frowning:

:::shoves a Vicoden into the CD drive for Mama Tiger:::

Can’t believe I have been home for 2 1/2 weeks already…I don’t want to go back to work… :frowning:

Another loverly day here, and I’m in the basement making clay stuff colorful… I need to plan better for future craft shows.

I just finished loading the bread machine for a loaf of white. In an hour or so, I’ll shove the little chicken in the rotisserie like I’ve been going to do since thinks Thursday. So dinner tonight is chickie, fresh bread, and whatever sack o’frozen veggies I grab from the freezer. And some fresh pineapple.

**FCD ** is semi-crashed, watching the Green Bay game on TV. I’ll return to the basement shortly. At least my studio has 2 windows, which are open, filling the space with fresh air. It can’t possibly be the end of the weekend already. Two days is simply not enough, dagnabbit! I’m going to file a complaint!!!

((rosie))), sorry you’re feeling awful.

I’m listening to the dryer dry, Mr. Lissar is trying to assemble some Ikea furniture behind me, and Aerin is asleep in our bed under two quilts. It’s been a good afternoon. It’s too bad I have to leave for work in half an hour. And that my sinuses are all clogged.
The life of a housecat is brutally hard. Bailey’s asleep on a cushion on the couch. Neither of them have moved for hours.

Thank you **Dotty ** for the compliment on the card. I haven’t been lucky enough to get to make baby announcements yet. Hopefully in the future. I love creating stuff like that. I even did a pay job for my manager at work and made her some bridal shower invites for her daughter.

(((rosie))) Hope you feel better soon!

I wanna be a housecat!

Sorry you’re feeling crappy, rosie.

Back from church and stopping by at a friend’s. Need to go to the grocery for a few items I forgot to pick up at Trader Joe’s yesterday. But first I’m vegging for a bit.

Turns out the concert was probably a bit much, so I don’t feel great today. I’m feeling a bit better than I was when I woke up, but not nearly as good as I did yesterday morning. :frowning: I’m hoping tomorrow a.m. brings better things… This is really annoying.

Nap time.

GT

Thanks for the Vicodin, rosie. I hope you took one yourself first, though – I hope you feel better soon! A combination of migraine and sinus? Oy.

I don’t have that much work I need to do today, and I am even more strongly afflicted with a case of the Don’t Wannas than I was yesterday. I couldn’t even muster any guilt over Papa Tigs doing seven, count 'em seven loads of laundry yesterday (although he did leave it all for me to fold, lucky me).

At least it’s a pretty day. Maybe I’ll go imitate the animals, who are suffering just as badly as your cats are, LiLi.
