That’s Some Bad Puns... The MMP

Ah. Being witty, are we?

I think I’m going to try to make Rhee’s lasagna tonight.

I’d love to see Bob Dylan in concert, but one of my friends was saying how his voice has gone down the drain. Plus his concerts are way overpriced.

Alistair, that is quite a dashing coat.

I saw Dylan, back in…'78? He was at our college homecoming. I also saw Elvis Costello years back, I was supposed to go see Nick Lowe last month, but never made it. Go get his new CD though, it’s really good.

I had planned to get some work done this weekend, and I OUGHT to, but I worked my tail off today, just ate a semi-large yummy dinner of grilled poke chops, au gratin taters (N.O.T.) and rolls. Now I just feel like sitting here and turning into a big blob of goo on the couch.

It’s all just some things I have to write - a report, and a couple memo type things. Maybe I’ll knock them off when I get home after the game tomorrow. Or, early in the morning Monday.

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Time to go find a cat and crash.

Wow, Haze, I hope I didn’t kill your Halloween party thread.

I’m waiting for the husband and nephew to leave. They are being NOISY!

I’m trying to stay out of my kitchen because it’s HOT! I’m cleaning my oven and the heat is just running me right out of there.

Other than, I’ve got nothing.

We saw Dylan a few years ago at a Jazzfest concert in New Orleans. It was, to put it mildly, a massive disappointment. His voice has not only gone to shit, but he sings everything in a mumbling monotone so that you can’t even tell what the hell he’s singing; even some of his classics were literally unrecognizable until he was halfway through them, or more. Add to that the fact that he spent the whole show at a back corner of the stage, and the lights went out the second each song ended, and he was also nearly invisible as well as being unrecognizable.

So if I were you, I wouldn’t waste my money.

I have spent the day doing basically nothing, so I’m going to give up and go crawl in bed and watch a movie or something. The biggest excitement all day was that our power flickered for about five minutes, and then decided to go out completely, come back on, go back out, etc. three or four times before <knock wood> coming back on to stay. Yeah, life is thrillsville around here today.

So I’m gonna go eat some good ice cream (Turkey Hill baked apple dumpling) and watch something mindless and cheerful. Toodles!

Well, I ended up going into Heartland to the EBGames there and picking up the Orange Box. Played a bit of Episode 2 and love it. I’m a little miffed that they axed the Black Box, 'cos I ended up paying $62 (with tax) for three games I didn’t have (one of which, Team Fortress 2, I won’t play 'cos I’m not really into the multiplayer thing) and two games (HL2 and Ep 1) I already own. They were very nice to include the option to gift Half Life 2 and Episode 1 licenses to someone if I want to.

McUne - Thanks for the tip – I couldn’t wait though. I’m very impatient when I’m after something. I knew I could get it somewhere, I just had to travel to get it. I was going to get it at Best Buy, but EBGames was closer and it was too chilly to do any more walking than absolutely necessary. What’s Gamefly? All I see is an online rental place, so the “put it on Gamefly” doesn’t compute. By the way, that Wishblade thing looks pretty damn cool. Expensive as hell, but cool.

Heff&Roo - Sounds like you’re more into the atmospheric adventure-type games (which I enjoy, too.) The Half Life series is more a first-person shooter, so there are periods of some pretty intense action. Having played a couple hours of HL2 Episode 2 so far, I just engaged in an absolutely ridiculous Antlion battle, and from what I’ve seen of the gameplay videos deep in the forest, it’s only going to get more intense. I do love adventure games too though. I didn’t care much for the Myst series, and haven’t played The Longest Journey – though that one looks pretty cool. I love scenery as well though; even in first-person shooters I love to explore absolutely everywhere and play with everything. I’ve gone through STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl twice in a row now (it’s kind of a hybrid FPS/RPG/Adventure) 'cos the scenery and action are incredible. Penumbra Overture: Episode 1 is also an awesome horror adventure which more emphasis on exploration, stealth and puzzles than action, though there’s enough of that, too.

Hank - Y’know, I played the original Sims, plus a couple of the addons, but I totally lost touch with it once they started coming out with a million add-ons, plus a sequel with another million add-ons.

Taters - Your husband sounds like a perfectly sensible man. If your son gets it I’m pretty sure he’ll like it. It’s been fun so far, and there’s a lot of stuff in the package to keep him busy, especially if he doesn’t have the original HL2 or Episode 1.

Evenin’/Whatever Y’all! I slept almost nine hours today. I was tahred! I really didn’t want to sleep that long cause I was plannin’ on catchin’ a little sleep tonight (not too much) cause I’m ushin’ tomorrow mornin’. However, I am wired up and wide awake right now. Dangit!

Supper tonight was tbone steaks, baked N.O.T., sallit and cheesey bread. YUM! Oh and ice cream for dessert. I got “appreciated” for it and ol’ y’all know who is sacked out right now. I wish I could sack out. Heh. Maybe in a while I’ll go in and do some “appreciatin’” of my own. Would that be mean?

Special1, not only female mumpers… How you doin’?

Work last night was well… laid back. I swear it was like nobody was doin’ anything at all most of the night and nobody cared. I was told that that’s what the Friday/Saturday night shift pretty much is every week. So, around three this mornin’ (that’s dinner/lunch/breakfast whateveritisatthattimeofday break) I joined in the general slackness. Oh and it was 48 degrees Amurrkin when I got off work this mornin’! BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Puggy reckon it’s time to put out the “NO SNOW” signs?

Mork, I know what you mean about waiting. I was that way about Halo3. I couldn’t wait to get it, in fact I took that day off of work. blush We were out at Midnight that night to pick it up. Glad that you got the game. Gamefly is an online rental place for video games. Kind of like Netflix put for video games. When I said put it on gamefly, I meant to add it to our queue, and eventurally get the game. They also offer WONDERFUL discounts on games. If you want a referral or more info, let me know.

The Wishblade is AWESOME. I love that thing. I don’t use it nearly enough as I should though. I’m getting ready to hook it back up for a project I’m working on though. It is very expensive, I saved my pennies for that, lol.

Thanks! But I think I overdid it. I was feeling so great to be back with the living that I did way too many things and now I’m back to feeling not that great again. But thankfully, not as bad as yesterday.
**
McUNE**, thanks for the info. on the die cut machines and the offer for more info. If I ever decide to get one, I’ll know just where to ask.
No, I didn’t get anything from the Stampin’ Up catalog yet. It’s pretty overwhelming. But what I like about it is that everything is color-coordinated. I like the tone-on-tone effects of the coordinating paper and inks. That was pretty awesome, I thought. I have a question about the scrappin’ sets. I’m assuming you have some of those. The demonstrator said that each kit comes with an instruction sheet with instructions for a card, a scrapbook page, a box, etc. that you can make with the kit. But where do you get the template for the box? It didn’t look like it came in the set. Thanks for the link to that wishblade. It looks like a beauty. But I’m glad you later said it was expensive. I nearly choked when I saw the price. OK, I have to ask, can you create a design of anything you find on the web or just standard fonts? Thanks for all the helpful info.

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one. There’s something so neat about being able to cut stuff out of paper and push the paper through and come out with something embossed. It’s enticing.
What’s good at kohl’s? I’ve been in there a couple times but I don’t know what to look for there. I’m not much of a shopper, so it all just looks like a big store to me.

ems, welcome to the sickies corner. I’ll try not to spread any more germs around. It’s no fun to be here, is it? I hope your dad is improving.

Mamatigs and FCM, all your talk about ice cream had me craving some. But because I’m lactose intolerant, all I can have is either a couple bites of the real thing or tofu ice cream which is actually pretty good, considering. So I went to the supermarket in search of some tofu ice cream. But I don’t live in a healthy kind of place, so there was a carton of each of cherry vanilla and some chocolate thing and both were crushed. They’re building a health food store around here soon. I can’t wait.

Mork, I couldn’t resist going to Best Buy and looking at The Orange Box, but as I stood there looking, I was flanked by two 12-year old boys looking at the same thing. It killed my interest right there. But as I was walking out, I saw some very cute Sony VAIOs. . . one was a very sexy red 14" and there was a really cute 11" also. Do you have any suggestions for games that are not violent or scary in the adventure genre? The Nancy Drews don’t work on my machine for some reason. And btw, I’ve been meaning to thank you for your tip about ptunes that you gave me a long time ago. I listen to it every night. It’s been wonderful!! Thanks for recommending it.

swampy, how can “appreciatin” be mean? After all, it’s appreciatin’.

Good morning, Dotty!! I hope you’re having a great day and this starts a better week as distinguished from the last one.

To everyone else, I’m whipped, so good night!

The beauty of the concert was: it was free. Also, it was awesome, despite Dylan’s inability to enunciate. Amos Lee is a friend of a friend, so we were actually there to see him (he’s excellent - I’d never heard anything by him before, but really enjoyed it). His band plays everything from kind of rockabilly to heavy blues rock. Very talented. Elvis Costello was really entertaining. He played solo, but also chatted a little bit in between songs.

I found Dylan kind of hypnotic (in a good way). You mostly forgot that you could understand very little of what he was saying/singing. (I did have a couple of moments where I wanted to yell out: “enunciate!”, but I controlled myself.) His band was EXCELLENT, which I think made a big difference. My boss saw the Columbus stop of Dylan’s solo tour and was severely underwhelmed. With a good band, he’s really really good. He played an extremely long set, including a 2-song encore (which was kind of bogus - they let people applaud and stomp and generally make noise for several minutes before they came back out and unfurled an enormous banner. Seems kind of tacky to take it for granted that an encore will be demanded). At any rate, they were on stage for more than 1 1/2 hours. (Amos and Elvis were on about 45 minutes each.) So it was actually quite a good deal if you were paying for the tickets. (And an excellent deal if your tickets were free. Did I mention free tickets?)

We had really good seats. Close enough that we could see the performers clearly, but not so close that we lost our hearing. I could, however, feel the sound waves pounding against my sinuses. I chose to regard it as therapy.

Now, of course, I’m amazingly awake. I’m trying to think relaxing thoughts so I’ll get sleepy, but it’s not working yet.

I notice the hospital wing of the MMP is expanding… It’s going to be bigger than the non-hospital wing pretty soon. I guess we’d all better start getting healthy.

Neat pics Al (and yes, the coat is awesome).

Hi swampy!

How can it almost be Sunday already?

doggio, I’m supposed to remind you that you’re hosting on Monday. (No, I didn’t remember, but I checked to see who was up on Monday and it’s you and then I remembered that you said to remind you and…)

Off to try to sleep…

GT

Morning all.

Yesterday was very quiet - recovering from a hangover after drinking 3 (count 'em - 1, 2, 3) glasses of sparkling shiraz. I am such a cheap drunk these days, it’s embarassing!!! Fortunately it was my sleep-in day, so I didn’t get out of bed until 10:45am and immediately choked down a couple of paracetamol. In other news, we bought Noor a high chair yesterday, so HRH now has something decent to sit in and eat her morning tea/lunch/dinner!!!

I have to admit I am not into die-cut machines or computer games that much. I have a shockwave membership and play some of their games a few times a month, but I have never been committed enough to playing games to spend $80+ on buying one!

Well, HRH is grumpin’ again, so once more into the breach, dear friends …

oblighty drunken pist! twon nights in a wro!

Andfitst post ona new page! w000t

“pist” is right sweetie! You are a stronger woman than me!!!

Voluntary sober post. Who-knows-how-many-days in a row!! Why am I doing this? Maybe I am drunk and just don’t know it?

**Silly **appreciates all the “squeeing” over him; and I appreciate all the squeeing over me; even swampy’s

Other than that, I got nuttin’. Just another working day in the Middle East… Appropriate and inappropriate yays, boos etc. all around.

No work here Nooner - everyone is on holiday until Tuesday!!! This week will be a 2-day working week (not that I’m back at work yet), so neener, neener, neener!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

ETA: I passed 500 posts, and I didn’t even realise it!

Just think Dotty you passed 500 posts and most of 'em were up in here. If I were geeky enough to say, look at all my posts over time and see where I made 'em, I just know most of 'em would be MMP posts.

Oh, Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I did go to sleep for about three hours. I needed some sleep so’s I can make it through churchification this mornin’. Then it’s lunch (N.O.L.) and beddy bye time for da bear. Lunch, btw, is of my makin’. I figured since I was up and all, might as well do sump’n productive, so there’s a nice pork loin all browned up and cookin’ away in the crock pot with a nice gravy. Ima do some rice, sweet N.O.T., steamed spareguts and rolls to go along with the pork loin. Ok, the rolls are frozen but if’n I have to thaw 'em and bake ‘em it counts as cookin’, SO THERE! :stuck_out_tongue: I might even whip up a peach cobbler and throw it in the oven to cook whilst we eat. Gotta spoil ol y’all know who a little bit every now and then, after all.

Alrighty then, time for some more caffiene. Later Y’all!

Yeah, us Jews always end up being discriminated against… :stuck_out_tongue:

Now why did I read this as “Nooner, Nooner, Nooner”?

Holy crap - I saw my breath this morning!! When I took the doggies out to do their thang, I exhaled and created a little fog!! Temps in the low 40s. I guess fall has arrived at last. They were predicting frost west of DC, but we’re south and east and very close to the Bay, so it’ll likely be a while till we get frosted.

**FCD ** swapped out my monitor last night for the big flat screen he bought last week. It’s going to take a little getting used to, but I think I like it. He definitely does when he does his design work, so there’s that.

Today’s agenda of excitement includes a trip to the convenience center, after we put air in the van tire. It’ll also include some pot decorating and studio tidying. And I’ve got a small chicken in the fridge that I intend to pop into the rotisserie some time this afternoon. Yep, it’ll be an orgiastic pleasure fest at FairyChatEstates, I’m tellin’ ya! Will the excitement ever [del]start[/del] cease?

Another disturbing dream last night - disturbing because I was back in school. I had to take an exam and before it started, I put all my notes and stuff away. Then I found out it was an open note exam, and I couldn’t find *any * of my notes. One side of my dream brain was saying “You know this stuff - you don’t need those notes!” And the other side of said brain was saying “Notes! I want my notes!! I *neeeeeeed * my notes!!!” And there was a lot of mud involved, and some more stuff but I’ve said too much already.

I’d like to respectfully ask you sickies to keep your germs to yourselves. I’ve had a bit of a sore throat for the last couple of days. I’m pretty sure it’s just my sinuses draining, but if it’s the first stage of Teh Sick, I will not be pleased and I’ll hunt you all down and, um, give you such a Stern Look!!

I just noticed that when **FCD ** replaced the monitor, he did something with the cable for the digital camera. I can’t see it - normally it’s draped over the modem box for quick and easy photo downloads. I’m going to have to yell at him anyway - he’s not supposed to lift more than 10#, and that includes crawling under the desk and messing with the back of the computer. Why are some people such stubborn patients?? sheesh.

So, Happy Sunday to You and Yours.

I’m off today! I have an exciting day planned at Casa Perro. I’m going to Mass, then off to do laundry. I’m going to swing by the shelter this afternoon to visit Nelly(I’ll take pictures).

Lunch, Silly is a cute kitty, unlike Lucretia. She causes terror in small children.

Dotty, I can’t party like I used to either.

gt thanks, I’ll slap something together today. Or as Bob Dylan would say: “M mmMm mMmMM MM mmM.”

Yes, it’s starting to be fall, isn’t it? I’m up, although I’m going to want a nap momentarily (I can feel it coming on…)

I’m certain that most of my posts are in here, because I seldom post elsewhere.

I hate back-in-school dreams. You’d think they’d wear off eventually, but apparently now. I had a long dream last year where I decided to go back to grad school, started teaching again, and then got disenchanted with grad school again (having taken several classes and worked on my dissertation). That was frightening.

Yay for the new high chair! And for upcoming new Nelly pictures!

OK…back to sleep.
