Well, at least I enjoy watching the games. And UK won, so I’m happy. Glad I don’t gamble.
My brackets are a mess. After the first day, my record stands at 8-8. Forget March Madness, baseball season starts soon : )
My office does the pool differently; we don’t start submitting our guesses until we hit the Sweet 16. I like this. Next week, I’m in the game!
My first day’s record was 5-11. Guess I didn’t win the million dollars from CNN.
Gotta brag quickly while I can… I’m 13-3 after the first day, and I didn’t carry of my misses on to the next round.
There are about 120 or so in our pool though, so I’m sure there are others doing better.
Keeping my fingers crossed for today.
I’m 12-4 so far, but that’s all gravy since Kentucky won! Go Keith Bogans!
Besides, one of those 4 really hurts me: I had USC into the Elite Eight. I won the family pool last year (about 30 entrants) but I doubt I’ll get it this year.
I’m 10-6 so far, which is not too bad since I had picked 5 of my 6 losses to lose in the second round. The only team that lost that I had predicted going to the Sweet 16 was USC. We’ll see how today goes.
I guess I might not not have been too bad off (8 and 7. . . better than 50-50% barely?) except that my bad guesses are nightmares. I had Gonzaga versus W. Kentucky in the end, with Valparaiso in the final four (and Duke). I think it’s curtains for me.
With the first four out of the way today, 13-7 with 3 Sweet 16 teams gone and 1 Elite Eight. Everybody else around me is doing better so I know I’m out this year.
I’m numero uno in mine right now. Hope it lasts, but I know it won’t. The guys would get pissed, anyway. They always do when some random chick guesses end up taking all the dough!
::sigh::
Another 12 seed upsets a 5 seed, Creighton over Florida in double overtime.
The irony of it all is that I picked only one 12 over 5 upset (Utah over Indiana), and it turns out to be the only 12 seed not to upset the 5 seed (Tulsa upset Marquette, and Missouri upset Miami(FL))
::double sigh::
We’ve done a pool within my immediate family, and 4 out of the last 5 years my teenage daughter has won it. She lost last year because she started paying attention to win-loss records and seedings. Prior to that she just made her picks on the school colors, or the state they were from, or if she liked the name of the school. It drives my son crazy!!!
End of Round 1… 25-7. Only one of my misses carries over to the next round (damn you Bobby Knight… you were supposed to surprise everyone with your powers and take them two rounds).
Time for bed… lots of basketball to watch tomorrow.
22-10 so far.
The only pick that carries over into the next round is Gonzaga, who I picked to make the Sweet 16. So, conceivably, I could go 15-1 for the second round. Here’s hoping !
Oh and by the way, as of right now (8:18 AM Central Time March 16) three people in the Yahoo Pool are 30-2 :eek:.
I’m actually doing well, so far. 25-8, including the Siena/Alcorn St. game.
Of course, I’ll not win anything this year. WE DON’T GAMBLE!!!
cough cough
I chose Gonzaga to go to the Elite Eight, and USC to go to the Sweet 16. Marquette was supposed to win another, too. Oh, well.
If I had watched a basketball game in the last two years, I might be doing better. Or if I knew anything about basketball.
It reminds me of the ESPN.com poll yesterday concerning everyone’s brackets. Two of the answers were, “I’ve been Gonzaga’d” and “Did I write USC? I meant UNC-Wilmington”, heh.
6 of my Sweet Sixteen are gone already. I really suck at this.
Another 6 of 8 for today, and I only had Ohio State slated to go to the next round.
I’m feeling good today, but I’m sure when I see the official results so far on Monday, and find out I’m in 15th place I won’t be so cocky.
And we’re playing for jelly beans just in case anyone is wondering.

I’m number two baby! And the prospects of my teams winning in the rest of round two are looking fairly decent. Since we’re all within a few points of each other, it looks like one or two upsets could turn the whole leaderboard over real soon. Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen.
