That's it. Let's have a Comfort Party.

I’m here - huddled uner a blanket. Outside is a bit scary. Some feetie kammies sound good, even if I have no clue what they are for

Yeah, outside’s more than just a bit scary. I was considering crawling under an antique desk, but not unless I can bring the rest of you with me!

Okay, here’s what I think I’ll do. It’s just what I did when I was younger…pin a whoooooooooole bunch of blankets together and making a giant tent out of them, holding the edges down on bookcases and desks and chairs by stacking books on them, and we’ll all huddle under a sky made from a bunch of well-loved quilts, patches of memory floating over our heads. There’s room for everybody, come on in…

scattering cushions around under the homemade tent, so people can get comfortable and cozy

declares through the front door oh my people!!! I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

My trip was awesome, but I just went through an 8 hour time change, so I’m a bit fuzzy as to who I am, let alone where I was, or am, for that matter. I’ll letcha all know later.

I’m so happy this thread is still going.
Actually, maybe it’s not, but I’ve missed you anyway.

cuddles under the tent

I just found out they called up one of my friends.
:frowning:
Good thing is after he leave his wife will be comming home for a while. Bad thing, I have one more person to worry about. One of my cousins is on a ship somewhere.
And what about military Dopers? I’m going to be a wreck.
Let’s not even mention if they activate my husbands unit. His is one of the last ones left in the state of Iowa and they have already taken six people out of his unit.

I love this place.
I’ve just settled in from one of the worst days of my life, only to find out many of my friends lives are going to hell, too. The TV only spouts more bad news…

And then I read the quote above.

Man, I don’t mind telling you I almost wept.

Scooch over, and can I borrow some footie jammies, too? I’ll share my chocolate bunnies!

(thanks, all of you, for bringing me back to my childhood. I’d forgotten what it was like)

*[Peeks into Todd’s blanket tent]*Oooh, I see people in need of comfort here:
Tapioca, here ya go, some feetie jammies just for you. See, they have feet in them, just like your blanket sleepers when you were little. If you’ve never worn feetie jammies, you’re in for one comforting treat…they are mankind’s way of making you more appealing to the comforters among us, so that you get extra cuddles.
And Lynne is back! So nice to see you! You just rest up and we’ll hear all about yur trip when you’re ready to chat. Here, have some nice hot chocolate. Want a little Irish Creme in there too?
Kricket, you are gonna be just fine, sweetie. You don’t have to shoulder all this alone, because I see…[counts]…well, a whole BUNCH of shoulders here to share your burden. So you just take a deep breath and look around you and remember that we are all in this big ol’ blanket tent together, okay? Let’s see if we can find you some nice PlayDoh–it’s great to squish and the smell is heavenly.
ArrMatey! Welcome! I’ve been holding these extra-soft feetie jammies just for you, and you may have your choice of cuddlies: we have kittens, dogs, teddy bears, and nice soft fleecy quilts. Let’s see, what else does ArrMatey need…hot chocolate maybe? Some nice macaroni and cheese? Or maybe you’d just like to sit here quietly and get a relaxing foot rub while we listen to a Babbling Brook cd.

Oh, I’m so glad you’re all here! It’s great to see you again, and I have a feeling we may need to keep our little party going for a while now.

Maybe I’d better run out for some animal crackers and jars of frosting to dip them in, hmmm?

Your’re a quilt?

And after some good sleep:

As for the hot cocoa, yes please, but quit offering alcohol to minors!  .

I had a great time in Paris, went there with some friends and my choir teacher. We took the Metro everywhere, and went to so many places is was hard to recall at the end of the day how we fit so much in. The food was great, the city was beautiful, and I got a great ego boost from a good number of the french guys who checked me out, told me I was beautiful, asked me out, and wanted to paint me (k, that guy was just plain lecherous, but hey). The Museums were cool, but I wish I had had more time to see them, especially the more modern ones that I couldn’t get to. Our guide seemed to know everything, and he told us stuff other than just the bare historic minimum. He told us where the rich people live now, how much it costs to live there, where to shop, … I could go on forever… and it looks like I already have… so I’ll just sip my vat of hot cocoa, cause I came home and saw all this snow:eek:, it goes on forever!!!

It’s so good to see everybody here! Old friends returning, new ones arriving…I’m glad to see you all.

Lynne_kilii, welcome back! Hoping that your trip was fruitful, and putting a couple of extra cushions over here inside the tent so you can nap off your lag…tea will be on when you awake.

Kricket, I’m sorry to hear about that. I’m always holding out hope that the cup will pass my friends here…come and rest awhile.

ArrrMatey, thank you. That’s one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received. I’m glad I could provide at least a little more pleasant headspace for you in here, and I appreciate you saying so. Such as I have, I give to you. Todd prepares to step out of the tent momentarily to put on another pot o’ tea

bodypoet, you look so adorable in your feetie pajamas that I don’t have the heart to send you outside…I’ll go get the frosting and cookies for you, since I’m stepping out to make tea anyway.

Tapioca Dextrin…an extra blanket and hot chocolate for you! It’s good to have you here!

(On preview, seeing that Lynne_kilii has snapped back into consciousness):

Glad you’re home, Lynne_kilii, and please, tell us all about it…we’ve got plenty of time! Sounds like you might have enjoyed another couple weeks there, maybe even had “April In Paris.” I’m a sucker for museums too, and there’s never enough time for me either…

Bodypoet- Awww thanks! I’ll definately take you up on the cuddlin’ of the puppies- I grew up with dogs all my life, and don’t have one now, so I sometimes go over to a friend’s house to get my ‘dog fix’
As for the chocolate, I’m unfortunately under some really bizarre dietary restrictions that make me unable to eat sugary foods, but I’m all about that mac and cheese! Num!

(Happy in the footie pj’s with lotsa friends in the blanket fort!)

Must have fallen asleep ::stretch, yawn::

How we all doin’?

Who wants pancakes and who wants a full English brekkie?

I’ve also Dublin tea as well as Yorkshire… Cuppa heaven anyone?

mmmmm breakfast. Hope those beans are Heinz. Can I make the tea? I’ve got Assam and Yunnan waiting to go. And I think there’s some Blackcurrant for those that want something a little less brisk.

… make tea, not war. My new footie jammies are great

Yunnan? Whazzat?

Great slogan – make tea not war…

Yunnan tea is just yummy. Anyone take milk?

Oh, yes please!
Thank you !

ArrrMatey, no…no–I can barely say it–no CHOCOLATE?

Oh MY. I think you deserve EXTRA comfort.

Here! You can play with the LiteBrite set I bought at auction the other night! Lots of pretty colors and a brand new light bulb should do the trick.

Tapioca, darlin’, I am warmer than any comforter and twice as soft.

Ooops, Lynne. That trip must have made you look older. Coulda SWORN you were 22 at least.

Ooh, if I knew french, I could almost live there. But I’m afraid that I don’t fit the weight requirement. Mainly, you have to weigh nothing. laugh But that’s ok, I saw the sock shops, and drooled over the tights that they had there, with all the designs… yum. I got a pair with comic book scenes on them.
God, I loved the metro, public transportation is my friend. This guy played the accordian on the metro, and that was just darn cool.
The hotel room was itty bitty, but since we only slept there, it was ok. A double and a cot in a room the size of a closet… interesting at least.
I got to go up the Eiffel tower, which was amazing, and ooh, it was just awesome to be somewhere that’s not here. I’ve been to Canada, and Mexico, and a bunch of the states, including Hawaii, and I’ve lived in 3 states other than Colorado, but it was so cool to go somewhere that wasn’t …this. I can’t really describe it, as you can see.
So I had a great time, all in all.
giggle no problem, bodypoet, no problem, just messin’ with ya.

Oooh, Lite Brite! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep. No chocolate. Nothing with a high content of sugar, honey, fructose, etc. etc. etc. If I eat it I get horrible headaches and nausea.

But back to the party! Footie jammies for everyone!
aaaaand… I brought my plush pilsbury doughboy. He’s a cutie and he’s tough, too! (my brother made him some SCA armor)

I have quite a bit to catch up on… but I just need some comforting right now… I’ll catch up tomorrow…

sent my sister back to the states… we spent the last few days locked inside. there were protestors outside hurling eggs and stuff at people standing around trying to watch (the americans in the housing area that they were blocking with their protests). people in cars were surrounded and then they climbed on the cars. if you opened your window, you were spit at. politzei didn’t do anything… they just watched… they stood and sat and laid in the intersection, so we couldn’t drive out of the housing area.

it was ugly… they made it known that we are not welcome here… I want to go home. I want my mommy… but I’m glad she can’t see this stuff… she’d be freaking out right now.

can I have some feetie jammies and something sweet and fattening to eat? I’ll bring my pooh bear from when I was little… I think it’s time to pull him out of the back of my closet. :frowning:

steph

Feetie jammies and a bunch of lovely chocolates sound good? And of course, your pooh bear is more than welcome here.
