The 2006 Weight loss club - February

Looks like everyone here is mostly doing good! All right team!

I think I’ve lost a couple of pounds since the beginning of Jan now. Still running, but I really…really…really want it to become warm outside. I miss running in just a t-shirt and shorts. The score card is at 190 pounds. Only 20 more to go.

Since I’ve recently moved out, I’m learning recipes for the first time. Who knew frozen veggies could be so healthy, tasty, and easy? (though since they are frozen and not fresh I’m sure they will give me cancer or something)

Frozen is just as good as fresh – at this time of year, probably better. They’re not adding all kinds of chemicals and preservatives – just freezing them.

It’s been damn cold here in the mornings. This morning is was in the upper 30s when I ventured out for my walk. It has the effect of making me walk a whole lot faster. I feel good that I’ve walked 4 mornings in a row this week.

I’m giving the Myoplex a try for a couple of days and see if I can’t shake things loose with the lower calories. 1 Myoplex Lite Shake (made with water, not milk) is only 180 calories.

I just found out that my husband’s ex wife will be attending the wedding of his second cousin in March. I’d really like to be a bit thinner for that occasion.

Twickster is right. Veggies are frozen while fresh, as opposed to produce sitting on display for days at the supermarket. The freezing might change the texture slightly, but the nutrients are still in place.

My news: Week 2 weigh-in on the HMR fast, 5 more pounds this week. My two-week total loss is 8 pounds, with only a smidgen from water loss. I’m a happy camper!

If feels like my sinuses are finally clearing up. Haven’t been exercising because of them. I’ve been pretty good at the carb-counting, but las night I totally blew it. New guest at Wednesday Night Barbecue brought vegetarian chili topped with cornbread. I had some. And I had a hard cider and a beer. And there was a little potato salad left that I finished off instead of tossing it in the bin. I’m afraid to step on the scale.

You mean theres a healthy food I like AND it won’t give me a disease?

This is a great day

Damn, it does seem so unlikely when you put it like that, doesn’t it?

I am now down to 225 pounds, which is 15 pounds shy of my 100 pound mark, which is a huge (pardon the pun) milestone for me. This is actually the lightest and the best shape that I have ever been in my life. I’ve gone down 10 pounds so far this month, and I started this whole thing back in October.

I can’t wait until winter has finallycome to a close so that I can start running and riding my bike. I’ve been doing some work with free weights for the past couple of months, but I need to work on my cardio really bad.

you lost 85 lbs in 4 months??? how did you manage that? and can I have some of whatever you are on?

and btw CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s fantastic

The only thing I can say for me is that even tho the numbers arent moving, the inches must be coming off, because in Dec, when I tried on the new costumes pants from the sizing rack, the 3X where HUGE and the 2X fit but were snug. Last night I got my costume and found 2X pants; I was concerned until I put them on and they fit beautifully - just loose enough in all the right places. I must be doing something right

I’m a little off this month, was eating a lot of bad stuff and not getting as much exercise as I should…but I didn’t gain any. Didn’t lose either. Still at 176 as of this morning. But I’m getting back on track to hit 170 by the end of the month.

Heh. It was a lot of hard work that did it for me. I work at WalMart, unloading the delivery trucks, so my day consists of four hours of moving 30 lbs boxes from the truck onto pallets, and another four hours pulling 2000+ pound skids to various departments using a pallet jack. In a day I can burn upwards of 7000 to 8000 calories. I’m on my feet for 7 hours a day, and moving with something heavy for the whole time, so it whipped me into shape real fast. I was also 150 pounds overweight when I started. The last month or so my weight loss has slowed down to a more reasonable rate.

Previous to this job, I worked in an office, so I sat behind a desk all day, and the only real exercise I got was walking to and from work, and the occasional game of golf.

Outside of that, I just cut back on the amount of food that I was eating, and tried to make things more balanced overall. Rather than big meals, I eat several smaller ones, and limit my junk food intake as much as possible. I still eat McDonalds too much though, as it’s cheap and convenient.

I’m still looking at taking off another 30 or so pounds, and now is when it will get difficult for me, as the majority of the weight is already gone, and the loss has slowed. My goal is to be down to the 190 - 200 mark by July or August. For the record I’m 6’4". Once I get my goal weight I plan on hitting the gym and increasing my muscle mass.

Was a good week excercise-wise. I worked out for more than twice the norm every day except yesterday (I went out of town.)

I still have to work on getting my eating under control. It is better than it was, but I must improve. As I keep saying, this is a life-time change and therefore must be something I’m willing to work on continuously.

We’re posting here, right, not in the other thread? Maybe we should get that locked before this gets really confusing?

I always have to be a weirdo, doing things my own weigh, but I’m not gettting on a scale more than a few times peryear at the doctor’s office. I have a bathroom scale but I think that weigh lies madness, so I’m just focussing on long-term wayt maintenance and getting my old clothes to fit better over the long haul.

i had a decent week (more late night eating than I’d like, but I was socializing with friends who just eat dinner very late, and I was pretty good rearrangiing my schedule) and I’ve been working out fine (though I’ll have to walk when I’m in Florida next week, because I won’t have my exercise equipment with me).

But I just decided, while I was packing for the trip to take out one of my sports jackets from the 1980s and see if maybe it fit any better than it did the last time I tried it.

Has anyone every tried to fit an item of clothing from a Ken and Barbie set on? That’s what this was like. Not only could I not get the jacket to button properly, but the button and the buttonhole were in, llke, different time zones.

I guess that’s why I hate the way-in: weigh too discouraging if the results aren’t quite up to your expectations or your hopes or your dreams. More modestly, my jeans are fitting a little more easily, so I do believe I’ve lost a little weight over the past two months, so this isn’t so bad. But I’m determined to wear that goddamned Ken jacket this year.

Yes, that is why I put the frown smile. I just messed up.

I was at 219 this morning, meaning I’ve been plateauing for three weeks now. That itself isn’t so bad – I can live with it – but what is frustrating me is that during this same three week period, I have been yo-yoing between 216 and 222.

I know weight fluctuates and I have been doing this for thirteen months now so I’m also used to it, but generally only plus or minus one or two pounds, not three or four. It’s maddening but I’m keeping to my diet and not letting it affect my eating habits.

There’s also the small chance it could be muscle mass. I went to Goodwill last night to buy some more pants because the jeans I bought in July have been too loose for months but are practically unwearable on me now and discovered that the 38s that were a little too snug on me a few weeks ago fit almost perfectly now.

When I began losing weight in January 2005, I was wearing very tight 50s.

Initial Weight: 360 lbs
Current Weight: 219 lbs
Goal Weight: 150 lbs

141 down; 69 to go.

180/170/155

current BMI 27.46

2 pounds this week, right on target. The running program is going right on schedule.

This week: 0. YTD: -5.

Not a surprise – it’s been frickin’ cold here, I haven’t been walking.

Down 14 pounds from 27 December.

This week I lost 2 pounds; down 10 pounds in 3 weeks. Tests show I’m still losing too much potassium, so I’m really tired this week, but the increased potassium prescription should get me back to normal soon. I’m really glad this is doctor-supervised.
