Misred, I think so, given that they backed out at the last second and didn’t bother to tell anyone till then. Still, it woulda been sweeeet to make that much money.
Emily, appendages crossed and prayers said. Hope it goes well!
I am all cleaned, primped and powdered and waiting on my Daddy. Hope everyone has a good rest-of-thursday… Toodleoo !
My mom didn’t teach me to cook per se, but I learned everything by hanging out in the kitchen with her. She did teach me to bake, as in standing next to me and telling how to measure, etc. My mom was an excellent cook. People talked about her turkey dinner at her funeral. sniff Now I miss mom.
It’s freaking cold here. 23 degrees and single digit wind chill. I am not amused.
I think I’ll go with the $20 for these five because they’re for coworkers and none of us make a lot. If/when I sell them at the flea market I’ll go with the second pricing scheme. And if I ever sell them at a craft fair in Tourist Trap I’ll label them as “Authentic Appalachian Craft”* and charge and extra $10 per.
(Hey, I’m an authentic Appalachian. I have a mountain family to prove it. ;))
{{{{Emily}}}} I wasn’t real sure about hugging you this early in our relationship, but everyone else is doing it…
Mom, maybe they used carob chips. Those things are evil.
I do know that using salt instead of sugar in an apple pie makes for a seriously disadvantaged pie. Another good reason to not have unlabelled containers on the counter top.
My mother kinda taught me to cook, but she wasn’t a real good cook.
I learned much more from my college roommates.
It snowed today, and was sticking, and, since I needed to drop something at the post office, I decided to take a walk in the snow. Walked the 5 blocks to the post office, then walked 4 blocks up First street to the bakery, where I met The Spousal Unit for lunch (corn chowda), then we walked across the street to her office, (which was closed on account of weather), so she could declutter part of her desk. Then we drove home.
I got one of those Echo Dot thingees on sale the other day. Haven’t done very much with it yet, but it is kinda fun to just say “Alexa, what’s the temperature outside” instead of looking it up on the phone.
The Dot is just an Echo without the big speaker, and it costs about $120.00 less, and since I had some extra computer speakers lying around, I figgered I’d do my own speakers. I got Alexa going and plugged in my speakers, and, as I was reading about what I could do with Alexa, I smelled burning plastic. I looked up and saw smoke coming out of one of the speakers! So another plan bites the dust. I have a pair of bluetooth speakers I will try to pair up to the Dot soon. Maybe tonight.
Thinking about making chicken tortilla soup for dinner. That’s one good thing I like about winter. I get to make soup.
My kitties get themselves stuck on the screen doors; much drama ensues when that happens. Not sure why they insist on climbing the screens; it’s not like they don’t have other things to climb – trees outside, a cat post inside. Who can fathom the mind of a cat?
Taunt us with mention of such cuteness and we will demand photo proof.
My cat is sulking. Got hauled out of the apartment today to hang with humans she didn’t know in this communal area near the office in my complex. She, the bird, and DH had to evacuate for a few hours while pest control was boring holes in walls to put in gunk.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear (the stars are incredibly brilliant!) with a predicted high of 50 and N.O.S. for the day. No big plans for the day. I foresee stayin’ in da cave all day. Chili, corn bread and a green sallit for dindin tonight. Chili is already made. I took some outta da freezer and put it in da fridge last night. There’s a hunk of beast thawin’ as well that shall be turned into beast stew tomorrow. I got a really good night’s sleep. We were both asleep by around eight-thirty and I pulled an all nighter as in did not get up even once to go pee.
A post of facebook says that one of rosie’s friends has taken Smokey in to live with her. I know some of you don’t do facebook but were wonderin’ what would happen to Smokey. I’m sure Smokey is missin’ mama but it’s good to know he’s (I think) in a good home.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. OYKW is in the shower as I post and will leave soonish for irk poor thing. I could go back to bed but don’t feel the need to do so, so I reckon I should purtify for a day of sloth.
Today is my anniversary - well, mine and FCD’s. 33 years! No plans, but we might go some place nice for supper. Or not. We’ll just see. We’ve never really made a big deal about our anniversaries. My sisters were aghast that we didn’t do something special for the 25th. Whatever.
I’m hoping I can beat the drawing from hell into submission today. That’s as ambitious as I can manage. TGIF!
I’m up way too early again, have been since before 5am. I tried and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I’m up.
It’s cold outside but it’s supposed to warm up to 37.
According to my phone, it’s suppose to be 51 on Moonday, be in the 40s Tuesday and Wednesday, then drop to 28 on Thorsday. YUK!
Today is Geology final day. Saturday and Sunday will be Math and English in whatever order he decides. Moonday will be Psychology, which is a pain in the ass because it will be a short test (10 T/F questions), but it’s not available until then. Otherwise he could take it on the same day as one of the other tests. Maybe we can move Geology to Moonday since that is a short exam too.
