The computer company…or is you a farmer?
I thought that was only allowed to go to school.

Happy Anniversary to FCM and FCD!!!
24F outside, contemplating how dressed I need to get to go outside and get the newspaper.
I swear, Sari, sometimes I think you’re the one taking the classes, with how much you do to get Son organized… ;)
Thinking about breaking fast, but undecided on what to have. I’ll cobble something together.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s a balmy 30 degrees(American) outside.
Happy Fairyversary!!!
I do it more for me than I do for him MetalMouse.
I am way too anal.
I like plans and schedules.
I may not keep to them, but I like them.
Happy Fairyversary!
I has a blurf. It’s nearly hometime and I still has a blurf.
I’ve been keeping one of the cats in a room by himself in order to get a urine sample out of him. So far he has managed to spend all day with his legs plaited, waiting for me to let him out of the room so he can head straight for the catflap. If he doesn’t produce anything today, I’ll have to pick him up and give him a good squeeze.
Happy Anniversary Mooooooooom and Daaaaaaaad!
Spidey
Computer… it was tech support through a 3rd party company. I’d be a miserable failure as a farmer. I can’t even get an herb garden to grow.
Swampy, I am glad Smokey has found a home…
Emily G Glad things went well.
Awright, that’s enough loafing… time to get started cleaning house… it’s prep day for me.
Also I have to decide between chicken sharwarma and rice or BBQ chicken and cornbread Sallit for Sabbath supper… decisions decisions…
Love to all!
Thanks, all!
For a while, our anniversary celebration, such as it was, involved going to a Japanese Steak House. But the schtick there got old and we quit going. There is a rather nice place in Leonardtown that we like but it’s too pricey for “regular” dining out - maybe we’ll go there. Or have pizza delivered. We shall see.
Meanwhile, LUNCH!!
Firday blurf TGIF…
Happy Anniversary Moooommm and Daaaaddddd
Yeppers — those people pay someone to drive them all to drink and are so grateful that they buy several rounds for various houses. I would be willing to attend the conventions and I’m fairly ambivalent about hockey.
Same here!!!
And put that way it sounds like something Trump would hate so I’m even more in favor of it ![]()
Just so I can say I am not a total sloth today, I have a load of whites in the washer as I post.
HAPPYFAIRYCHATIVERSARY!!!
Depends; I have a gluten free brownie recipe that’s really good, actually far better than the gluten containing one I used to use, likewise my gluten free Christmas cake recipe is good enough that the family scoffed the lot last year, which was really annoying 'cos I was banking on taking at least half back home… This year I’ve made two to be sure.
I’m being a little excited today, but shh, don’t tell anyone yet.
I sent in an inquiry about a university level course yesterday, fully expecting to be told sorry, I didn’t meet the requirements (the whole system has changed since I left school, which makes it a little complicated to work out equivalent grades, and mine weren’t very good anyway) or I’d missed some deadline (the system is, unsurprisingly, set up for school leavers, and tends towards the ‘ask your advisor’). Apparently though, I’m in time, and my grades may actually be accepted; a definite maybe!
I’m going to meet the course manager at some point in the new year, to discuss it, as I can’t make the open day (which is smack in the middle of my Spain trip, of course).
It would mean moving 3 hours away, so abandoning the allotment, and probably rehoming the bees, but I really am getting to the point where I need a change, and this would definitely be worth it!
Happy anniversary, Moooom and Daaaaad!
metal mouse, your attire when stepping out for the paper depends entirely upon your tolerance for heat/cold and the proximity of your neighbors.
I thought I would be out of here by the usual 1:30ish today, so I scheduled a friend to come over to make cards in the studio. Had my boss not been up in Wisconsin on vacation, I would have been gone at noon. However, the grandboss wasn’t available just then to sign off on it and when he got out of his meeting, it was to tell me that I would have 288 journal lines from our Mexico operations (and I’m the only one here with login rights to do this :dubious:)to adjust before I left.
That meant resetting the studio day and taking a lunch break. And he still isn’t back so that I can get started.
Home from testing.
He got TacoHell as usual. I got McD’s. After the woman at McD’s swiped the card, she handed it back to me and said,‘you ladies have a nice day!’.
He said, as I was pulling forward, ‘I’m not a lady’.
I laughed.
I finally got rid of most of the junk mail being delivered for me, now he is getting it everyday. Lots of credit card offers and today he got two separate letters from State Farm wanting to sell him auto insurance.
For Janis:
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Disclaimer: This uses a lot of canned goods. If you have fresh stuffs, by all means use them.
Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts or equivalent. (If you have left-over chicken, you’ll also want a couple of cans worth of broth.)
~1/2 - 1 tsp poultry seasoning
1 bay leaf
salt & pepper
1 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can creamed corn, not drained
1 7oz can fire roasted diced green chilies (or a large anaheim or poblano or other mild green chili, diced)
1 bell pepper, any color, diced (I didn’t have any last night and didn’t miss it, so I’m gonna say this is optional)
1 can diced tomatoes, not drained
1 can kidney beans, or black beans, or whatever you like, drained
~ 2 tsp taco seasoning
~1 - 2 tsp cumin
~1 - 2 tsp chili powder
salt & pepper
cilantro chopped, if you have it. Again, I didn’t have any and didn’t miss it.
Crushed tortilla chips. The stuff in the bottom of the bag will work fine.
Directions:
Do ahead: If you’re not using leftovers, put your chicken in a sauce pan with poultry seasoning, salt and pepper, and a bay leaf.
Cover with water and cook on stove top until cooked, then turn off the heat and leave it.
When you’re ready to assemble your soup, put ~1 Tbsp cooking oil in the bottom of your soup pot. Put in the diced onion, bell pepper, diced green chilies, and the whole kernel corn. Cook until the onion is translucent. Put in the garlic and cook it til it smells good, not very long. Put in your creamed corn, tomatoes, and beans.
Pour the chicken and broth through a colander into the soup pot. You should have enough liquid, but you can add water or broth as you like. If you are using leftover chicken put in a couple cans of canned broth instead.
Add the taco seasoning, cumin, chili powder, (to taste) and salt & pepper at this point.
Transfer your cooked chicken to the cutting board that you left out after dicing the onion, et.al. and shred it with a couple of forks, and put it in the pot.
When it’s all heated up, taste and adjust your seasonings. If you like your soup hot, as in spicy, put in your hot stuff of choice. I like chipolte powder. You probably like something else.
Serve with crushed tortilla chips (that’s the ‘tortilla’ part) and whatever garnishes float your boat.
Let me know if you like it.
Have I mentioned lately that I dislike Windows? It seems that it took it upon itself recently to modify a key in the registry having to do with the ‘User Profile Service’ and refused to let me even log on this morning. I had to boot into ‘safe mode’, which ain’t as easy as it sounds, and then go into the registry and change the key back, while reading the instructions as to how to do all this on my phone. Fortunately this time the instructions actually corresponded to how the system actually worked, for a change. Still, it took me almost an hour of futzing around to fix.
Chili is simmerin’, green sallit is made, and cornbread is bakin’ away. YUM!
Nuts appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.
Well I am ready to go home but my boss was around earlier and said he needs me to go to Home Depot and buy some storage bins and he would be in touch. So here I wait for him to get in touch. If I don’t hear from him soon he will have to wait until Moanday or get someone else to go shopping for him.
I hate waiting. Tis Firday and I am ready to go home…whine…
Executive decision has been made - we’re going to The Front Porch for dinner. Once Higgs has been fed, we’ll head out.
Heck, we might even splurge and have dessert! We never have dessert when we eat out - mostly because we’re usually too stuffeded to have dessert. ![]()
Chili has been ingested. Good comfort food on a cool, windy day. YUM!
MOOOOOOM sounds like a good place. There’s a place called “The Back Porch” in a town about thirty miles from here that’s really good. They have great steaks and seafood. We never get dessert either for the same reason.
Got Italian chicken cooking in the oven. It’s been a slothful day. But since it’s my only day off, I’ll take it.
Well, that didn’t go a planned. We got to the restaurant before 5:30 and they were full!!! They said it’d be at least 20 minutes, but as we sat waiting, it became apparent that it’d be longer than that. So we just went to Red Robin - we like their fish & chips.
Our daughter called while we were there, so that was nice.
Home now, thawing. It’s 34° and falling. Very windy. brrrrrrrrrrr
Time for robe and slippers and chillage!
