I know a lot of people were worried about Naomi’s kitty Smokey. Just found out tonight that one of Naomi’s coworkers/friends is opening her home to Smokey and adopting her. She will be safe, loved and cared for. I know she’s confused now and misses her Mom terribly (as we all do) but it is comforting to know that she has a new home.
Glad to hear about Smokey.
I did put on a pair of jeans and a jacket and retrieve the paper, and that was about as energetic as I got today. I still have one tender spot on my knee from my fall last Saturday, it doesn’t restrict movement, just sore to the touch. If it doesn’t seem to get any better into next week, I guess I’ll go see the Doc.
The phone folks were a no-show today, which ticks me off some. I mean, I make the effort to come to your office, I’m very polite and don’t demand immediate service and I repeat back to you when the service will be, well, I sorta expect SOMEONE to show the hell up! Will continue the ‘discussion’ with them on Monday bright and early.
Youth indoor soccer tomorrow and Sunday, will try not to trip and hurt myself this time.

I didn’t get out of irk until nearly three. My friend and I did some projects in the studio, then went to the good noodle house for a bite to eat. Crispy pork pho for me and Tom Yum for her with spring rolls to split.

I’ve got a good Christmas (Rum) Cake Recipe that is also gluten free…

Rum Christmas Cake

[li]1 cup water[/li][li]1 tsp. Baking soda[/li][li]1 cup sugar[/li][li]1 tsp. Salt[/li][li]1 cup of brown sugar[/li][li]Lemon juice[/li][li]4 large eggs[/li][li]Nuts[/li][li]1 bottle rum[/li][li]2 cups dried fruit[/li][/ul]

[li]Sample the rum to check quality.[/li][li]Take a large bowl, check the rum again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.[/li][li]Repeat.[/li][li]Turn on the electric mixer.[/li][li]Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.[/li][li]Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.[/li][li]At this point its best a make sure the rum is still OK. Try another cup…just in case.[/li][li]Turn off the mixerer thingy.[/li][li]Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.[/li][li]Pick the fruit up off the floor.[/li][li]Mix on the turner.[/li][li]If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.[/li][li]Sample the rum to check for tonsisticity.[/li][li]Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something.[/li][li]Check the rum.[/li][li]Now shift the lemon juice and strain the nuts.[/li][li]Add one table.[/li][li]Add a spoon of sugar, or some fink. Whatever you can find.[/li][li]Greash the oven.[/li][li]Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.[/li][li]Finally, throw the bowl through the window.[/li]

Cold morning here - cold day ahead. All laundry will be done indoors, because I’m a delicate flower. 
**FCD **and I will be going to my work because he wants to see the helicopter I’ve done drawings for. The project he’s assigned to uses the same chopper, and since this one will be shipped to Australia in a week or so, he wants to get a look at it for reference. That’s our after-breakfast plan. I hope someone will be working in the shop - I don’t know how to turn the lights on in that area.
Apart from that, no big plans. I’ll probably wrap the $10 exchange gifts along with the ones for daughter and bf. Yeah, I’m nice. I got something for bf. What he really needs is a job, but that’s another story…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a very chill 29 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 53 and N.O.S. for the day. Next week we’ll have high temps in the 70s. :dubious: I have a hunk of beast (a chuck roast) on the kitchen counter that I will shortly cut into chunks for beast stew. This also means the peelin’ and chunkin’ up of carrots, turnips, a small rutabaga (the only way I will eat rutabaga is in a stew), some parsnips and of course, N.O.T. So I have a couple hours of peelin’ and chunkin’ ahead of me. Everything will go into an eight quart slow cooker to turn into beast stew. That’s the big plan for the day.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify up a bit and get to peelin’ and chunkin’.

I went back to shower and saw the temp in that end of the house was 64°!!! So I bumped it up to 67° - at least it’s working on that. The pellet stove won’t be able to keep the house warm enough. I may suggest firing up the basement fireplace - the warmth from there will rise thru the floors eventually, right?
I’m all dressed and waiting for my sweetie to achieve the same. Then we’ll have some breakfast and head down to my office, assuming it’s not alarmed. They gave me a key but no one ever said anything about a security code, so I’m hoping there isn’t one. Or maybe someone is working today…
Tonight is the company holiday party - heavy horse-doovers, open bar, and dancing (eventually.) We’re going at least for the early part of the evening, but I don’t expect to stay till midnight. I know my sweetie isn’t thrilled about it, but we really should socialize with other humans more.

Back. We went to Golden Corral for their breakfast buffet - it was kinda sad. I think **FCD **was insulted that the clerk gave us the Senior discount without asking.
And who should we encounter there but BBBobbio! If I recall, the last time I encountered him in the wild, it was a breakfast. I sense a theme…
We didn’t go into my office because no one was there and I don’t know if there’s an alarm. We did go by FCD’s new office, so I now know where he works. In an office with a window, even!! I’s jealous!
Home now for laundry and maybe some cookie bakeage.
Da cave is smellin’ good with the beast stew doin’ its thang. OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried chikin so he’s goin’ to the Pubic sto’ to get us two of their fried chikin plates. If’n he’s buyin’ I’m eatin’.

It’s cold and N.O.S.
Cat has me trained, now he gets treats every time the dog goes out. He has learned the doggie stare that says, ‘that’s it? you’re kidding, right? you call that a treat? I want more and I will stand here and stare at you until I get more’.
However, I have taught Cat something. He’s learned if he pats my knee without claws I will pet him, but if he pats me with claws I will pick him up and hold him in my arms to pet him and he *hates * being held like that. Of course, I’m just being a loving mommy, how can he get angry when all I’m doing is loving him?
Red, that’s a lot of stuff you are putting in your bean soup!
We’re not going out today as he changed his testing schedule.
I need some breakfast and then get to irk.

N.O.L. has been ingested. The beast stew continues to simmer away. I foresee gettin’ all comfy in the recliner in the near future.
I finally got around to hauling the laundry downstairs and there’s a load of jeans in the washer. I let the pellet stove burn out and cool down, and I’ve de-ashed it and cleaned the window. It’s refilled and firing. Pic on FB if you care.
